Snow to 80 in 8 days–A spoonful of Holiday Cheer (2/5 update Ch 36 - Final Thoughts)

Hmmm. I'm intrigued. And what all can you do with these balls? No - I mean that!

Okay, I'm suddenly thinking of an old SNL skit with Alec Baldwin, but aside from that....

I've only ever used them for the recipe I posted, which is a great, quick pull-apart cinnamon roll thing. But I think you can use them for rolls or pizza dough.

I have no idea which member in our family she is talking about... :confused3 Ah, I got it, it is our father!! :thumbsup2 Unfortunately only one of us inherited his good genes! :rolleyes1

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

And I don't know where I read it, but someone somewhere said something about a good joke about a lawyer from Germany????

I thought this is a good place to state that I would love to hear this joke!! popcorn:::teeth::duck:

Why do yopu now a lawyer in Germany!!!!:rotfl2:

Katharina,
Are you going to let her get away with this! :lmao::rotfl: Magdalene you may be in trouble! :rotfl::rotfl2:

Ok, I'll attempt to do this without peeking at your PTR. In other words, completely random guesses. :thumbsup2

On our Disney travel day, I wanted to make it easily to Orlando before the discount ticket office we like closed at 6:00pm, so we could get Matthew's Disney ticket. I had ordered AP vouchers for the rest of us that we would pick up at Guest Relations when we arrived at our first park! To make sure we had plenty of time for food/gas/potty breaks along the way my goal was to leave my Dad's house by 9:00am.

Did we leave early, late or right on time? Early

How long did it take Marv to pass DS21 with his GPS and take the lead for the rest of the drive to Orlando? You were nice, and gave him an hour.

Did we make it to our favorite Disney Discount ticket office before they closed at 6:00pm, or did we have to spend the extra bucks and buy DS21's ticket at the gate? I'll say you made it. No way you're ponying up the extra dough if you don't have to.

Our first night we stayed off-property. Which mode of Disney transportation did we take to finally arrive at the MK that night? You took the ferry from the TTC.

What was the very first ride Marv and DW rode after arriving at the MK? Marv really wanted to ride IASW, but DW convinced him to head for Buzz Lightyear instead.

How many pictures did Marv take of Tinkerbelle's flight during Wishes? Blurry ones? 2. Good ones? 0.

What drink did Marv and DW have at MK? (we each had the same thing) Dole Whip Float. Is there any other drink at MK? :confused3

Where did we meet DSs when it was time to leave to head back to the hotel? 9:00 p.m.

What color was the first monorail we rode the first night at MK? Red. But I'm writing that answer in a blue font, which feels weird.

What section of the parking lot did we park in? (by character name)
Gaston's Discount U-Park-It Center, way in the back corner.

Good Luck!!! Thanks! Oh, I guess that wasn't a question.

Okay, I'm going to play; but I don't know that I like this game because I could get accused of "skimming". And I'm always in trouble as it is. But I'll try a round or two. Answers in blue.
Skimmer! :sad2:
 what do i win
With those answers??? :lmao: J/K Dan....... :rolleyes1

I didn't know you and Katharina had a third sibling???? :confused3

Okay, on one hand sadly I don't know said joke. Glenn just said to not make any lawyer jokes with Magdalene around, so I was playing with his comment. On the other hand, happily I hope, I was just really giving a shout out to my good DISfriend across the pond!!! :)
I've only ever used them for the recipe I posted, which is a great, quick pull-apart cinnamon roll thing. But I think you can use them for rolls or pizza dough.
Not sure what you call that, but we call it Monkey Bread, and that is pretty much all we've ever used those dough balls for......
Katharina,
Are you going to let her get away with this! :lmao::rotfl: Magdalene you may be in trouble! :rotfl::rotfl2:
I think we have another :stir: in our midst......

BTW, I'm enjoying all of the guesses, especially some of the creative ones. It is funny how close some of you have gotten to what happened in some cases AND things that almost happened too.......

Keep the guesses coming. This round will still be open for a while longer!!!

Oh, I thought my assorted smileys behind my request for telling the joke was pretty obvious, but it looks like you missed that my comment was meant rather tongue in cheek! ;)

Okay, so now you're playing with ME!!! Maybe I need to take a few minutes and come up with one that fits.......... :rolleyes1  ;)

Is it allowed to make ONE (or two) VERY small clariyfying edits to my answers??

Good Luck!!!

Great TR so far. :) Glad you guys didn't get caugt up or slowed down by any of the snow!!

On my last update I left you as I was about to spend some computer time on the DISboards. I pulled out the laptop and set it up on the kitchen table. Since DW sometimes uses it in the car as we travel, I figured it was best to plug it in to keep the battery charged. I pulled the power cord from the bag and tried to insert it into the laptop, but it wouldn’t go in. What is wrong with this stupid thing? :confused3 I know this is where the power cord plugs into this computer!!! And then I realize this isn’t the power cord that goes to the laptop, but the power cord for an external disk drive we have at home. Now how in the world am I going to keep the computer functioning long enough to keep my throngs of devoted followers on the DIS Boards :surfweb: updated on a regular basis during our trip to WDW without the ability to charge the battery???

While trying to get everything else done and loaded in the car, I had asked one of the boys to get the laptop together and in the bag so we could carry it with us. DS13 was working on it, but DS18 was also helping him since the bag is a little small for our current laptop. I’m guessing that they unplugged the laptop and just dropped the cord to the floor while they put the laptop in the bag. Turning their attention back to the floor to retrieve the power cord, one cord looked as much like any other and they grabbed the wrong one. :rolleyes1

When DS13 walked back in the room I asked Drew why he didn’t get the power cord for the computer when he packed it up. Of course his response was that he did; it was in the front pocket of the bag. :thumbsup2 I sweetly and politely explained he didn’t pack the right one. :headache: DS18 walked in about that time and asked what we were talking about, and I told him Drew didn’t pack the power cord to the computer. DS18 chimed in that it was in the bag because he had put it there. I love it when they rat themselves out like that. ;) It makes parenting so much easier. :) So okay, while I’m out tomorrow picking up the additional things we needed for our family get-together I need to add computer power cord to the list. :guilty:

We got up the next morning, had breakfast and began getting ready for everything we had to get done that day. I was heading out to get some last minute things (including a new power cord for the computer) and DW was going to the grocery store with my Dad to pick up everything she needed to make dinner for our family Christmas meal. My Dad had bought a ham a couple days before and took it to my DSIL to cook. When my Dad went over that morning it was waiting on him to pick up, all sliced and ready for our meal that evening. DW was planning to make macaroni and cheese, a brown rice casserole, white limas, and rolls to go with the ham and other items that family would bring with them.

After getting all of our shopping done we all got back to start getting ready for our family get-together. Earlier we had the problem of trying to find cake pans. DW got a chunk of cheese to make the mac and cheese with, but now we couldn’t locate a shredder. I knew my Mom would have a shredder, but we couldn’t find it anywhere we looked. Finally DW located a box that had a rechargeable shredder. This was one strange contraption that was a pain to try and figure out. I really didn’t see my Mom purchasing such a thing, so apparently somebody must have given it to her as a gift. Since it had been in the box a while, we plugged it in to charge it up. While it was charging, I read the directions to try and figure out how to use it, which turned out to be just the opposite of what you would expect.

While DW worked on other things, I started to shred the chunk of cheese. The first problem I found with this modern convenience is that the cheese wouldn’t come out the end and quickly got stuck in the chamber underneath. I was constantly having to take a knife and push it out the bottom. Then the shredder started slowing down due to losing its charge, even though I left it plugged in. This was a very slow and frustrating process and didn’t do much for convincing me that this modern convenience is better than the original. After two attempts I had probably gotten about a third of the cheese shredded. About that time DW went in one of the drawers looking for something else, and guess what she finds???....a flat shredder! About two minutes later the cheese was all shredded.

The rest of the day and evening went smoothly, and we had some great family time. :cloud9: The past few years my Dad has given me money to get presents for each of my family from him. The boys really couldn’t think of anything they wanted, so we had decided to just give them the money to use for shopping when they got to Disney. DW had something in mind we needed for the house, so we took the money for the two of us, combined it and had gotten that. It came in a larger box, and we didn’t want to take it down the road, and then have to keep up with it during the rest of our trip. I had already put it together and we were putting it to use, so we wrapped the empty box and opened it at my Dad’s so he could see what “he got us!” After that, he could throw the box away.

The past couple years we haven’t been doing much with presents at my Dad’s house since my SIL is now retired and on a fixed income, and with the birth of twins earlier in the year, her youngest and his family have found how much difference a family makes on your bank account, times two! This is fine with me because it is more about family time, which was great. :goodvibes We had presents for my Dad, and then of course we had to get something for the twins.

After getting everything finished up, and the mess all cleaned up, it was time to get to bed and get rested up for our long drive the next day. I knew I would have to be up early getting ready and out of the way so I could get everyone else on the move. The goal was to leave my Dad’s the next morning by 9:00am so we had plenty of time, even with stops, to arrive in Orlando in time to get Matt’s ticket for Disney. Since we don’t know if he will be able to go with us next June, we got Annual Passes for the rest of us, but decided to get him tickets for the number of days we were there, and we’ll just get him another ticket in June if he gets to go with us.

I got up the next morning right on schedule, and quickly got my shower and got everyone else started. To speed everything up we were just going to get biscuits for everyone for breakfast. My Dad wanted to handle it, but I was a man on a mission and told him I had some other things to do while I was out, so I would handle it. I knew when I got back I would be able to start loading everything so we could leave. :rotfl2: My first stop was at the closest gas station with a canister vacuum so I could get all of the glitter out of the car. Plus Matt wanted some bottled water for the trip, so I ran in the store after deglittering the car and got the water. Next stop was for our breakfast biscuits and then back home so we could eat and hit the road. Everything was going smoothly so far. :woohoo:

The local Hardee’s is the place for all of the Senior Citizens to meet and eat each morning. My Dad and Mom often joined them, and my Dad still does. I know a lot of those people as I grew up with most of their kids. They are great people, but I didn’t have time this morning to go inside to order and risk getting caught up in a lengthy conversation. Besides, I could see a whole lot of people standing in line inside. The drive through was definitely the correct option…..I thought. :sad2:

I got the order in quickly and got my food. Then a thought hit me……you better check to make sure you got everything because there wasn’t enough time to come back again. I pulled over and checked through a very full bag and sure enough I was missing two biscuits. I checked the receipt and saw that they had indeed included them on the order. Now I’ve got to go inside anyway. I set the bag in the seat and headed around to park when the bag fell over and out falls one of the biscuits, which of course falls out of the wrapper into the floor……

What else can go wrong today?????

Up Next Chapter 8 - We are finally on our way!

Not too late Yuki, still time to get those answers in before I reveal the details.... :)
Hey, Supreme Rule Committee Grand Poobah:

Is it allowed to make ONE (or two) VERY small clariyfying edits to my answers??
Well, I wouldn't do this for everyone Liesa, :rolleyes1 but I guess I will allow it!!! :thumbsup2

Actually I will take answers and edits up until I post the Chapter that applies to the questions, which I hope will be up tomorrow. That's why I gave some clarifications and hints. I plan to get people's answers all recorded just before I post......
Great TR so far. :) Glad you guys didn't get caugt up or slowed down by any of the snow!!
Thanks! Yeah, it ended up working out a whole lot better than I was originally worried about! It did make for a very pretty drive!

Oh goody!!

I want to change my answer, which I realized was sorty of incomplete just after I posted it.

I meant to say Dole Whip FLOAT!!

:rotfl2: I thought you were going to add a parking section at MK since I linked a picture earlier of the parking lot map that shows all the possibilities. At least you would have a one in about 15 chance to get it right.

Just like the lottery, you can't win if you don't play....... :rolleyes1

I hate it when my biscuits drop out of the bag!

Marv, I'm so glad you got some really great, quality time with your dad!! you're right, it's so much more about the people and the time spent than about the gifts. But I have to ask! What was in the big box for you and wifey?

UGH!! Power cord drama!! hate that too!! Something we must have in common! I always have power cord drama, or battery issues. :headache:

I have a salad shooter for grating up cheese (I'm about to use if for pizza right now), but it's not re-chargable. And youre' right, if the cheese is too soft they do clog up. The cheese has to be pretty hard like an aged cheddar for it to work well. Oh, and cold. Also works FABULOUSLY for carrots for slaw! and for taters for scalloped jobbies.

I wil stand by my GUESSES and not appeal to the Rules Committee !!:snooty::littleangel::rotfl2:
With age comes wisdom, right Rosie??? ;) :rotfl2:

Got to spend a lot of time just talking with Dad, and doing a lot of listening! Even though I didn't get to see my sister and her family, them coming a little later probably worked really well since that spread out the time Dad got to spend with family around him!

As for the present, no biggie! We are trying to get some things organized around the house and free up some space at the same time. This was a laundry center that had sections to separate clothes for washing, and a rack above for hanging clothes up when they are done!

Salad shooters are great. This was a rather small device. It was angled slightly and had an area underneath so whatever you're shredding is supposed to slide down and out the bottom end. Not a very large area, and then there was a support post or something right in the middle, which blocks part of the opening??? :confused3 They recommend you hold it at a higher angle when using (so why not just design it that way). You hold the block of cheese (or whatever) against the end and the small shredder part moves back and forth to do the shredding. :sad2: Nothing came out of the end of this thing unless I tapped on it, or pushed it out with the knife.

I kind of wish our family (extended) had spread out their visits as well. 21 people in one house was insane, AND NO ONE got quality time with anyone. Big grougs are fun, but...

I need a laundry sorter thingy too. I only have one basket. BUT, that totally motivates me to do laundry everyday- when it's full, in a load has to go. ::yes::

OK, so it wasn't a salad shooter. I have no idea WHAT this one was you were working with, but it sounds rather a major PITA!

It is real difficult anymore to make everyone comfortable at bedtime with just our few. I can't imagine 21!

This thing isn't much bigger than a good sized chunk of cheese. And PITA is a very good description. :headache: Give me an old fashioned grater any day!
If age is a key factor in WISDOM I am a GENIUS!!!!:lmao:
Well........ :rolleyes1
