Snow to 80 in 8 days–A spoonful of Holiday Cheer (2/5 update Ch 36 - Final Thoughts)

Well, maybe they shorted you a couple of biscuits and the ones you did get fell on the floor, but still.....Mmmmmm Hardee's biscuits!!! Yum!

Marv, sorry I'm late in responding to your update (it was Conference Championship tonight and our wrestlers won their 13th consecutive Conference Team Championship...it was an awesome night and they so deserved the cookies I made).

I'm so glad you and Dad got to spend some good time together.

Sorry about the computer cord...I hate when that happens.

I haven't been to a Hardee's since we used to drive to Florida. I used to love that place.

But another Senior Citizen place? Good thing you didn't go in.

Too funny about your laptop cord issues. I've had my own a couple of time. Once when we went up to our cottage for the weekend I left it at home. Another time I end up leaving it at the cottage and didn't relies it until I got home. My Mum and I end up making a trip up there a couple of days later to retrieve it.

Oh, I thought my assorted smileys behind my request for telling the joke was pretty obvious, but it looks like you missed that my comment was meant rather tongue in cheek! ;)

Okay, so now you're playing with ME!!! Maybe I need to take a few minutes and come up with one that fits.......... :rolleyes1  ;)

Good Job Magdalene :worship: I think you got him. :lmao:

Loving your trip report!:thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear more...popcorn::
:welcome: disneycruising!!! Glad you joined in on the fun!

Hopefully you won't have to wait much longer for more, but while you are you might want to use the link in my second post on Page 1 and try the contest questions. For the most part they are purely guess anyway, so you have a pretty good chance of doing as well as everyone else. :thumbsup2

My Dad eats there often.....probably too much! But there is quite a crowd there of people who he enjoys spending time with, and they were all really great when they found out Mom passed away! :grouphug: I've known a lot of them for many, many years. As for the biscuits, they are definitely some of the best you can get fast food wise!
Marv, sorry I'm late in responding to your update (it was Conference Championship tonight and our wrestlers won their 13th consecutive Conference Team Championship...it was an awesome night and they so deserved the cookies I made). I saw your updates on Facebook earlier! Congrats to the team on continuing their reign on the mat! I know how tough that is to keep it going without faltering! :cheer2:

I'm so glad you and Dad got to spend some good time together. It was a really great, enjoyable time! I think he really enjoyed it too! :lovestruc

Well, I had to go in anyway, but I made a quick escape!

:welcome: EastYorkDisneyFan!!! Glad to have you here! Funny how the more we share experiences on the DIS, the more we find out "we are not alone!" :rotfl:

I think it lost something in the translation.......

im guessing you were a good husband and you marked the one that fell on the floor DW :rolleyes1

just kidding, i am thinking that when you went inside, you told them they shorted you 3 biscuits.
:teacher:

Here I am - screeching in at the last minute!:hippie: I've been wondering where you are, asking KatMark to pass the popcorn, and I missed that you started over here! Blonder than I pay to be!!!:hippie:

:welcome: Tammie! So glad you made it over. I know how busy you've been with all those TR updates and your pajama parties in Vegas!!!

As for the blonde comment, at least you're getting your money's worth! ;)

Looks like I got here just in time! So far so good in getting this far. The problems your having so far are headaches but no show stoppers yet.

I'm going to go back and do your contest real quick...it looks like most questions are still valid at this point.

Hoping to get the Family Christmas part of this TR finished up and get the actual Disney portion started by this weekend. Wanted to go ahead and post the first installment of Marv's Magical and Mystical Mentalist Contest :smickey: to see who can best foresee the coming revelations as I recount the family's New Year's Disney Adventure.

For those of you who have been following along since my PTR, you might find some gimmes in the contest early on. For those who haven't, you still have a chance to look info up that might help. :surfweb: Happy hunting!

On our Disney travel day, I wanted to make it easily to Orlando before the discount ticket office we like closed at 6:00pm, so we could get Matthew's Disney ticket. I had ordered AP vouchers for the rest of us that we would pick up at Guest Relations when we arrived at our first park! To make sure we had plenty of time for food/gas/potty breaks along the way my goal was to leave my Dad's house by 9:00am.

Did we leave early, late or right on time?

The biscuit issue is making me say late but you may not score this answer. ;)

How long did it take Marv to pass DS21 with his GPS and take the lead for the rest of the drive to Orlando?

2 hours

Did we make it to our favorite Disney Discount ticket office before they closed at 6:00pm, or did we have to spend the extra bucks and buy DS21's ticket at the gate?

Made it.

Our first night we stayed off-property. Which mode of Disney transportation did we take to finally arrive at the MK that night?

Boat

What was the very first ride Marv and DW rode after arriving at the MK?

Haunted Mansion? :confused3

How many pictures did Marv take of Tinkerbelle's flight during Wishes?

2

What drink did Marv and DW have at MK? (we each had the same thing)

Dole Whip Float

Where did we meet DSs when it was time to leave to head back to the hotel?

Hub

What color was the first monorail we rode the first night at MK?

Should I change my answer to monorail earlier? Lol! I'll say Green.

What section of the parking lot did we park in? (by character name)

Donald

Good Luck!!!

So okay, while I’m out tomorrow picking up the additional things we needed for our family get-together I need to add computer power cord to the list. :guilty:

It's better this happened before Disney. If WDW stocked computer power cords the way they do camcorder tapes (as I discovered), you would only have been able to find one for a dot matrix printer.

Since it had been in the box a while, we plugged it in to charge it up. While it was charging, I read the directions to try and figure out how to use it, which turned out to be just the opposite of what you would expect.

You use the cheese to shred the machine?? :confused3

DW had something in mind we needed for the house, so we took the money for the two of us, combined it and had gotten that. It came in a larger box, and we didn’t want to take it down the road, and then have to keep up with it during the rest of our trip. I had already put it together and we were putting it to use, so we wrapped the empty box and opened it at my Dad’s so he could see what “he got us!” After that, he could throw the box away.

Brilliant solution! :thumbsup2

I got the order in quickly and got my food. Then a thought hit me……you better check to make sure you got everything because there wasn’t enough time to come back again. I pulled over and checked through a very full bag and sure enough I was missing two biscuits. I checked the receipt and saw that they had indeed included them on the order.

Oh boy. In keeping with the theme of my TR, a certain movie quote came to mind, but unfortunately, I can't quote it on a family-friendly board. Just think about Joe Pesci in Lethal Weapon 2.

*****Notice to all my faithful readers!!! My next update(s), which reveals answers to the contest questions is now written. There is one additional picture I want to add that is on the home computer and needs to be uploaded to Photobucket. It is also a very lengthy update so I need to decide how many posts I am going to break it into before I post it. We have a school meeting tonight for all the 8th-graders who will be at the High School next year, which includes Drew:scared1: so I probably won't get to make the update before around 8:00 - 9:00pm, Eastern Time. The good news is that gives everyone a little more time to get answers in for the contest questions, or make changes to your current guesses before I lock them in! With all the worthless, uh WORTHWHILE prizes on the line, make your selections wisely!!! YOU HAVE BEEN SUITABLY WARNED!*****

:welcome: Tom!!! So glad you decided to come along for the ride! And as I stated above, you are good to go with your contest answers!!!

And yes, no real biggies yet to stress over! Just minor inconveniences.

And would have cost about as much as the laptop....... :rolleyes1
You use the cheese to shred the machine?? :confused3
:surfweb: :lmao: :scared1: (cleaning monitor screen now......) Shredding the machine did go through my mind, or something done more conveniently with a hammer!
Brilliant solution! :thumbsup2
Thanks! High praise indeed! :goodvibes

Now there's a movie I've seen. I'll have to go back and check to see which line you probably mean....... ;)

I have no idea how this weired grater might have looked like, but it sounds very useless... I think electrical kitchen gadgets are way overrated and a good sharp grater is all you need, especially for cheese.

I am a bit frightened by the salad shooter Liesa keeps talking about - to me it sounds like a gun to shoot heads of iceberg lettuce through your kitchen. Sounds kind of dangerous!!

And may I ask about the Hardee's biscuits? I have only ever encountered biscuits (the American ones, in the UK people call cookies biscuits) at WDW buffets and they only ever seemed like very crumbly dry things - not worth to drive to a restaurant for. But I guess these are different?

Agree. I didn't take a picture. Next time I go to my Dad's I'll try to remember and then post the pic.

Actually, the salad shooter is pretty cool. Instead of a reservoir to collect the sliced vegetables or whatever, it "shoots" them gently out onto a plate or in a bowl, etc.

Of course you can ask! You have great patience with my endless questions....... :rolleyes1

The biscuits you are familiar with are what we normally call Pre-made and shipped frozen, poor excuses for biscuits, although I've had much worse than the Disney version at some places. Anyway, these are made fresh, from scratch (not a mix, in case you aren't familiar with "scratch"), typically using flour, shortening (Crisco, soft solid form) and milk (or buttermilk if you really know what you are doing). After mixing to the right texture and consistency, they are cut into circles (my Mom never did this, she rolled them into larger balls of dough, then pressed them down on the baking sheet with her knuckles, but not too flat) and baked until fluffy and golden brown. This version is very easy to cut, are great with melted butter, and can easily be filled with whatever you like (eggs, bacon, sausage patties, cheese, country ham, honey, jelly....pretty much anything we American's consider breakfast food). High in fat, high in calories, but oh so yummy!!!

Loved your update! (don't know what took me so long to read it though)

Glad you got to the bottom of the incompetent computer cord packer. :lmao:

Hope the cord didn't cost you too much. I know mine costs $79. :headache:

An electric cheese shredder... who knew there was such a thing. :confused3

The Great Biscuit caper of 2010!!!! Are you sure you didn't eat 2 before you checked the bag? popcorn:: :lmao::lmao:

You just have to ask the right questions, the right way....... ;) Something you really need to know when you have more than one and have to figure out which is the guilty party!!!

About $80, just like yours....

:confused3 It was a first for me......

Under normal circumstances that might have been an option, but this day I was too focused on getting back so we could leave on time. The negatives would have been speeding up those who were moving too slowly because I wasn't there, and the extra stoppage time on the drive due to the consumption of multiple biscuits....... :rolleyes1

Marv only you would give a count down to your next update !! I get home about 9:30p but may check at work !!! So no one answer him till I get chance !!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

It's okay Rosie, this update isn't more contest questions. This is finally an update with our first night at a Disney park, and gives the ANSWERS to the first contest questions!!! :woohoo:

And it wasn't really a countdown. I just wanted everyone to know that if they haven't submitted an entry yet, and wanted to, they still have time..... :)

BTW, my contest isn't like Glenn's where only the first to respond correctly wins. I wanted to make sure you have a chance!!! :lmao:

OH goody, goody!! I can read it while I cook dinner!!

I like Magdalene's idea better! :thumbsup2 I think the A-Team built something like that in one episode.
