Snow to 80 in 8 days–A spoonful of Holiday Cheer (2/5 update Ch 36 - Final Thoughts)

This is NOT your TR!!!! If you want to blame lack of skill, then do it on your TR with something you burned the edges on....... :lmao:

true, but i never burn my food.
:rolleyes1

If you have two pair, and wash the first pair on day 5 when you finally put on the second pair, AND you are only needing to cover 10 days total, can you really say you forgot your underwear????:confused3 I mean, it's not like I tried running in front of a bus on the way to a bath house or anything!!! ;)
why not just take the pair that you left home in and on day 5 go commando, or plan a water park day then you dont have to worry about underoos that day of the week.
:thumbsup2

just watch zipping up on the commando day, dont want to hurt the beans and frank.
( i hope you have see something about mary to get that comment)

Hope to get that final update up soon. I'm ready to move on to the Disney part of the trip so I can spice things up with some of the many pictures I took! That part is partly written so hopefully everyone won't have to hang on much longer!

Things are gonna get spiced up?? :cool1: ;) I'm looking forward to the Disney part! Although, I have to say, my DH should read your TR so far, he likes to bake too and I could use some 7 layer bars around here! :rotfl:

And he's a GPS guy, I like the maps!

Do I sound like that to you Marv!!!!!;):rolleyes1:rotfl2::stir:
Every time I've heard you speak.......
I dying laughing picturing your boys driving 90 mph to beat you! :drive: I don't think it was the GPS route getting them faster :)
Yuk it up funny girl! You've got two who will be driving before you know it......
I have tons of stoneware. I love them.
We have some too, along with a variety of others.
Since, according to Glenn, I am the "reasonable" one...:rolleyes1....how about you make several batches of the 7 layer bars, you can use a glass pan, stoneware, metal.....as many different materials you want, then you can cook a set of batches in your stove, then run to your dad's and cook another set of batches in his stove, then send all the batches to me and I will use my "reasonable-ness" to determine if there is any benefit to one type of "pan" over another, and how much of a disadvantage the faulty stove was. :thumbsup2
I'll get right on that for you.......

He'll learn in a few years, when he starts doing his own Disney vacation planning. :thumbsup2
You'll forgive me if I don't hold my breath.....
What about your co-pilot? Doesn't she know your TR needs pictures?? :confused3
She was already getting upset I kept waking her up to "look!"
Nice! :thumbsup2 Figuring out the shortcuts is a total "guy" thing to do. My DW can never understand my obsession with maps.
They'll never understand. That's why they always think we need to ask for directions and we never do!!!
true, but i never burn my food.
:rolleyes1
I didn't figure you did......
why not just take the pair that you left home in and on day 5 go commando, or plan a water park day then you dont have to worry about underoos that day of the week.
:thumbsup2

Saw it, but I think it would have been self explanatory anyway!
How'd you get the beans above the frank??!!
well you already got the tracks set son , we just have to reverse em.

ready 1, 2,.....

....we got a bleeder.
Okay boys, let's keep it clean! There are ladies present...... and some wannabes!!!
Things are gonna get spiced up?? :cool1: ;) I'm looking forward to the Disney part! Although, I have to say, my DH should read your TR so far, he likes to bake too and I could use some 7 layer bars around here! :rotfl:

I'm sure you can persuade him to get right on that! And after dealing with all those car seats, multiple times, I would probably be ready for the easy way out and use the GPS too!

Sorry for the lapse in replying Marv! Ok, let's get started here...

First, I have this sickness, it's called "I have to make good time to any destination ever". I believe it's technical name is IHTMGTTADE. Rolls right off the tongue, yes? Anywho, I laughed and laughed when I read about how you were trying to be all cool and beat your son to your dad's house! That is soooo me and my dad. It's like an unspoken rivalry though and the first thing he always askes me when I drive down to his house is 'what time did you leave, did you make good time?' See? It's all his fault.;)

Love how you re-routed the GPS to go through town and get your refreshments:thumbsup2. I have a love/hate relationship with my GPS, it always tries to trick me. Therefore I always have a print out and map of where I need to go.

:laughing:Too funny that you bought your DS new tennis shoes (although I call them sneakers but I guess that's a northern thing?). We actually went to Disney our 1st time in 2008 and I completely forgot to pack socks for any of us! DH was sooo annoyed:sad2:, who could blame him? Glad your poor DS was able to get some socks too. Do you actually feed the child? I was just wondering since he apparently owns 1 pair of shoes and doesn't have any sock?:confused3:laughing:

I'm actually going to have to side with Marv on the whole baking in another person's kitchen mentality. It does mess with your results so I can understand your frustration. My oven runs a little on the hot side which I'm familiar with. But my step-mom's oven is sooo unpredictable so I can't be held responsible for baking while there! Although burnt edges on 7 layer bars are actually quite tasty IMO, but then again I like my bacon burned to crisp too. However, (Glenn, please look away here), I am not a big fan of stoneware. It's not because it doesn't work well, it actually works great! I just hate that it looks so used! I know that's a hallmark sign of stoneware but I like my pans clean! So I use Wilton pans now.:thumbsup2 I have tons of other Pampered Chef products Glenn, so I think that makes up for me dissing the stoneware...:rolleyes1

It sounds like you had a fabulous start to your trip Marv!:goodvibes Glad the snow diminished, it's no fun traveling long distance in snow!

I'll get right on that for you.......

Ok - I'll just sit here and wait for them.....

Too bad I wasn't able to take any pictures while I was driving.

WHAT??? NO pictures???? BAD DISer!!!!! :lmao:

Now the second "left behind" issue arose. Matt informed us that he had not packed very many pairs of socks, and would need more before we got back home.
Oh man... can't wait to see what else was forgotten....

Well, even though they had the GPS, they missed a final turn or something and had to circle the block so as I pulled in my Dad's driveway they had to pull in right behind me
HAHA... dad knows best! ::yes::

After passing the toothpick test, we decided the issues with the stove were resolved and we now knew the magic formula!

You are making me hungry... at 1:30am! :lmao::lmao:

Since I had located the pans I needed to make my 7-layer bars while we were looking for the cake pans, and we were now uber-confident in our baking skills on this finicky of stoves, I figured it was the perfect time to go ahead and make my creation. :thumbsup2 After all, they would need the same exact temperature that had just been used to perfection for the cake. Since I had premeasured everything at home and put it in separate baggies, I melted the butter and put together the first pan for baking while the butter melted for the second pan. I pulled the second pan with melted butter out of the oven and popped in the first pan ready for baking. Henry Ford would have been proud of this very efficient assembly line I had going!!!
Something tells me that this isn't going to end too well. :confused3

(Okay, how many of you were thinking disaster was going to strike and Marv was going to mess this all up???)
ME! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

So what was the recipe again? :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

First, I have this sickness, it's called "I have to make good time to any destination ever". I believe it's technical name is IHTMGTTADE.
So THAT'S what they're calling it now, huh? :rolleyes1

It's like an unspoken rivalry though and the first thing he always askes me when I drive down to his house is 'what time did you leave, did you make good time?' See? It's all his fault.
It HAD to be somebody's!!! ;)

That's all you have? I also have a printed out trip plan that tells me at each landmark how long and far I've been traveling, how much time and miles are left in the trip, and I keep checking to see how accurate it is...... :thumbsup2
Too funny that you bought your DS new tennis shoes (although I call them sneakers but I guess that's a northern thing?).
I've called them sneakers many times myself.
We actually went to Disney our 1st time in 2008 and I completely forgot to pack socks for any of us! DH was sooo annoyed:sad2:, who could blame him?
 He could have packed his own....... :sad2: I never entrust something so important to somebody else. That way I NEVER forget anything......
Glad your poor DS was able to get some socks too. Do you actually feed the child? I was just wondering since he apparently owns 1 pair of shoes and doesn't have any sock?
Two different boys.....but I do make them share their meals.....

Okay, we're starting to have entirely too much in common.... :goodvibes
Most. Funny. Movie. Ever. :rotfl:
Uh oh! Agreeing with Dan. THAT can't be good!!! :lmao:
Ok - I'll just sit here and wait for them.....

I'm so ashamed....... :guilty:

With age comes wisdom!!! ;) (sorry, guess you wouldn't know that yet...) :rotfl:

Something tells me that this isn't going to end too well. :confused3

ME! :rotfl2:

So what was the recipe again? :rotfl2:
I would repeat it, but my new recipe book will be out soon and I don't want to cut into the sales...... :rolleyes1

Hoping to get the Family Christmas part of this TR finished up and get the actual Disney portion started by this weekend. Wanted to go ahead and post the first installment of Marv's Magical and Mystical Mentalist Contest :smickey: to see who can best foresee the coming revelations as I recount the family's New Year's Disney Adventure.

For those of you who have been following along since my PTR, you might find some gimmes in the contest early on. For those who haven't, you still have a chance to look info up that might help. :surfweb: Happy hunting!

On our Disney travel day, I wanted to make it easily to Orlando before the discount ticket office we like closed at 6:00pm, so we could get Matthew's Disney ticket. I had ordered AP vouchers for the rest of us that we would pick up at Guest Relations when we arrived at our first park! To make sure we had plenty of time for food/gas/potty breaks along the way my goal was to leave my Dad's house by 9:00am.

Did we leave early, late or right on time?

How long did it take Marv to pass DS21 with his GPS and take the lead for the rest of the drive to Orlando?

Did we make it to our favorite Disney Discount ticket office before they closed at 6:00pm, or did we have to spend the extra bucks and buy DS21's ticket at the gate?

Our first night we stayed off-property. Which mode of Disney transportation did we take to finally arrive at the MK that night?

What was the very first ride Marv and DW rode after arriving at the MK?

How many pictures did Marv take of Tinkerbelle's flight during Wishes?

What drink did Marv and DW have at MK? (we each had the same thing)

Where did we meet DSs when it was time to leave to head back to the hotel?

What color was the first monorail we rode the first night at MK?

What section of the parking lot did we park in? (by character name)

Good Luck!!!

The car was a given since we were off property. That's why I worded the question as DISNEY transportation. Until I actually post the TR update that reveals the answers, edits to guesses are allowed....... ;) :rolleyes1

I thought it was a trick question since you even asked where you parked. :confused3

Okay, since edits are allowed....

Unless of course the Rules Committee has a personal vendetta or something, but I don't know why they would........... :)

Well, this is something for people who are really good at remembering things and who are highly competitive. As this description doesn't fit me but a close family member, I won't even start to hunt in your PTR, but will take wild guesses!
