WEnt to the Mk today. I was at the bag check security area at the MK waiting for my purse to be checked. The family in front of me, which consisted of mom dad and a couple kids, were having their bags and cooler checked when security found they were attempting to smuggle beer in to the park in their cooler. Security made them remove the beer from the cooler and take it back out to their vehicle. Dad and kids proceeded to the ticket tag area to enter the park and mom volunteered to take the beer to the car. Mom then proceeded to follow dad and the kids to the ticket turnstiles and secrity was watching her to make sure she did not enter the park. I am assuming she did not enter the park and returned to take the contraband back to the car as at this point i was entering the turnstiles to begin my fun. I have never seen anyone attempt to bring alcohol into the Mk or any other parks, thought it was interesting. You would think these people would have the common sense not to even think about bringing alcohol into the parks but i guess some people dont.

I've always suspected that a big part of those bag checks had to do with looking for alcohol....interesting story. Have fun and please say hi to Mickey for me! ;)

When i first saw this post i went hm,,, what have they done? LOL :rotfl2:

If you need beer, go to Epcot or DTD. Don't they sell some there? I don't drink, but I would think that mom or dad could live without if for a few days :confused3 .

I see the stupidity of bring beer cans into the park, but in general, what's wrong with trying to bring alcohol into the parks?

exactly...that's why I baggie my alcohol up and tape it to my inner thigh. An ole UF game day trick! ;)

Mmmmmmmm...warmed beer, now that's *good* drinkin' :drinking1 :crazy2: !

agnes!

On one of our previous trips, an older woman right in front of us at security (I think Epcot)check-in had a flask in her purse. Security asked what was in it and she answered," My medicine";)

He made her empty it out right there!!!! The alcohol smell was overpowering - especially at 10 AM!! I commented to the guy that I had never seen such a thing. He said he's been a bartender for 30 years and there was no way anyone was gonna get past him.

Talk about explaining unusual sightings to the kids!!!:confused3

Because it is against the rules, that's why.

Last thing I want to do is trudge thru a hot amusement park w/a buzz...however, I know plenty of folks who start their vacation day w/a bloody mary & spend the day @ poolside getting slammed (i.e., see cruises;) ) if that's their idea of quality vacation time - go for it, as long as their using resort transportation.

Even @ the MK, if you need a little sumpin', you can always catch the monorail to one of the hotels & return to parks.

I dunno. i could definitely see 'the happiest place on earth' being 'the most stressful place on earth' when toddlers are involved. :smooth:

It would relieve the stress of traveling with kids. However, too many, and you would lose the kids. Not that that's a bad thing. :rotfl:

But technically bringing in food is as well, although they let that slide.

On my last trip this past summer I saw six packs of beer on the security table almost daily, even at the parks where they sell beer. You aren't allowed to bring it in even to those parks because having to purchase it will at least put a little restriction on how much you can drink.

Also if you are bringing alcohol into the parks they cannot make sure that you are not giving it to underage guests.
Its illeagal in all the parks but ESPECIALLY in MK which is "dry" because it has the highest concentration of small children.

Theme parks, not just Disney, prof. sporting events, concerts etc do not allow people to bring in their own alcohol, so why would these people think the Mk would allow it?Especially since Walt specifically did not want alcohol in Disneyland and then that carried over to the MK. I dont drink alcoholic so it isnt an issue for me.

Now, come on...any self-respecting old lady would have stuffed "her medicine" in her bra. :rolleyes1 She just had no class and deserved to get caught :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I enjoy a cold one as much as anyone, but I've never even thought about bringing alcohol into ANY theme park I've ever gone to, let alone the MK. (Jersey Shore boardwalk amusement parks don't count!)
