Smuggling Beer into the MK

Man, this is one of the funnier park experiences I've read about. Uhh yeah, I would figure a person could just go over to World Showcase for a drink. That may be a problem if ur too whomped to get on that monorail ;)

I love hearing the myths about Walt wanted MK to be dry, well BULL!! We all know DL came first and club 33 was all part of original construction.

And no you cant buy 15 drinks at Epcot or any other park for that matter. You are allowed 2 drinks per person per serving. Now that is not saying you dont make 7 different trips to the same stand, but all parks are still under FL law in that the bartender can be held reliable for the person's intoxication.

Yes I have been known to have several drinks in Epcot or TL or MGM for all that matter, but just cause I do or dont have kids doesn't mean I am not allowed to have my fun.

I have seen several 6packs of liquor not make it into the parks. Most are in the "NOT KNOWING" Think of how many people get there answers here on the boards. Now think of how many visit Disney and have no clue these boards ever exist.

yeah - it's easy to stick a flask in your back pocket, I mean they don't frisk you or anything, just check your bags!

last April i was at MK and the couple in front of us were VERY drunk, then we noticed they were sharing a hose, from one of those cammel back things, and it was not water they had filled it with beer.

I guess being a non-drinker, I just don't get what the big deal is. My BIL goes nuts by the end of the day at MK. He's ready to hop in no time to another park to go grab a beer.

From the Magic Kingdom? Your BIL doesn't have to hop to another park - just take the monorail (or walk) over to the Contemporary!

But technically bringing in food is as well, although they let that slide.

One doesn't need to maintain a liquor license for food----

I'm sure the "rule" exists for legal reasons and not just financial.

I can't smuggle a beer into TGI Friday's or walk the streets with it--b/c of the laws.

don't fill a Camelbak with margaritas, the smell never washes out of the bladder. that's my tip for the day. :) during football season, we've brought a cooler and a TV. the dads sneak out of the park, take the tram back to car and have a little tailgate. then we sneak back in and regroup with the families. at least at IOA, they have a place where you can get a beer, some wings, and watch the game. that's forward thinking.

We do have special needs for our snacks: not to pay 2 dollars for a water and 5 dollars for a bag of goodies!!!!

Also if you are bringing alcohol into the parks they cannot make sure that you are not giving it to underage guests.
Its illeagal in all the parks but ESPECIALLY in MK which is "dry" because it has the highest concentration of small children.

We actually saw a father pour beer into his toddlers sippy cup and give it to the toddler who of course drank it. A CM saw this happen and said that wasn't something he should be doing and that it could make his child ill. The man was quite livid caused a bit of a scene. I don't think anything was done about it though if something could feasibly have been done in the first place but I can only imagine what goes on at home if he found it fine to give his toddler beer at WDW.

Well I emailed Guest relations and this is the response...

Dear Vanessa,

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

We would also like to mention that as an exception to our standard policy, guests who have specific
food allergies are welcome to bring their own small snack items with them into the theme parks.
However, picnic baskets, ice chests, and coolers are not permitted.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us.

Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number if applicable on all
correspondence.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Peggy Bishop

so according to this, they are not welcoming food into the parks and security is overlooking the cooler issue unless you have glass bottles.

We went to WDW in 2002 and I remember the locals at the grocery store made a big deal over the fact that food and soft cooler bags were now allowed in all the parks. They made a point while bagging my food to tell us that and to be sure to bring some of our own snacks in for the kids (we planed to anyway since we had a tolder at the time.) It was my understanding it was offical policy at the time. (We also heard it from a number of cast memembers in the parks.) It is rare we enter a park without some kind of food or drink. (juice box, water, pop.)

I now have a child with food alleriges, but didn't at the time. The only comment I have ever gotten from secrurity they somtimes joke about sharing if it looks good. ;)

Why would any one be dumb enough to bring their own beer? Go to Epcot if you need one. Others are right, it isn't just WDW parks but any puplic place with lots of people.

Maybe we should ask why Disney makes all of these rules, only to not bother enforcing them. It is like your dad telling you to behave or he will pull the car over, but he never does. pirate:
I don't know about you guys, but my dad DID pull the car over, and we were the sorrier for it! :guilty:
On another note, I have thought about bringing in a juice drink that wasn't entirely "juice"--haven't attempted it yet though  .

You are allowed 2 drinks per person per serving.

At WDW I understand you can purchase one drink per ID at a time. You can't buy two drinks at the bar intending to bring one back to someone else unless that person is present and their age can be verified. You can order as many drinks as you want, but only one at a time per ID.

that's the rule at all FLA theme parks. but a lot of FLA restaurants offer 2 for 1 drinks during happy hour. I've been told that the parks do it to to minimize underage drinking by visitors from other countries and obey our '21 years and older law'.

Those double and triple stollers bangin' into my legs when its 90 degrees send me packin' to the the trout pass bar at WL faster than buck shot from Dick Cheney's double barrel!!!!
