Smells on rides

Completely agree! I went in July for the first time since I was a kid (6 and 11 before) but that water smell was exactly as I remembered it! So comforting! It's that kind of chlorinated but not really like a pool kind of smell... I remember even smelling it a bit (or a smell very similar to it) entering the Adventureland area and in the queue of Indy. Definitely my favourite DL smell too! :)

Agree with you all also! POTC is my favorite smell too. When I smell it in line I just think "I can't believe I'm here!" :goodvibes

I completely agree!!

OP, your husband needs to get his senses checked lol. Especially if he hasn't noticed the oranges and pine trees on Soarin'

He does notice those now, but I'm not sure if it's only because I pointed them out. He definitely thinks I am nuts for smelling ginger at Harryhausen's and even crazier for the burning smell inside RSR.

As for POTC - I know the water smell you mean (though I never would think of it as lovingly as others LOL), but that's not an intentional smell, right? Just the way it is. Like the water on GRR . . . it smells a bit chlorinated.

I also love the smell of kettle corn in DTD - for about 2 minutes. Then it gets sickeningly sweet.

I don't think it is intentional. The chlorine smell (I think it smells like old stagnant water personally) does not tend to evoke thoughts of the open sea lol. The Jungle Cruise is also stinky. But I would agree that the smell is a unique Disneyism for me that I can't help but enjoy.

My sense of smell deteriorates the longer I'm in the SoCal smog zone.

I haven't noticed RSR, but the pickled ginger smell is so strong! Makes me hungry for kappa maki every time I ride...

Oh and sometimes you get lemons when the abominable snowman offers snow cones on Monsters.

I love the smell inside POTC!! It evokes wonderful childhood memories for me! It was always one of the first rides we went on as a kid, and I still get excited with my first whiff!

Love the smells! During this time of year small world smells like candy canes.

One bad smell in the park is when you are near the trolley rails in front of the castle while waiting for the fireworks...smells like urine probably from the horses :crazy2:

I thought it was just me that smelled this and maybe it was an isolated incident. Guess not!

That's the exact reaction I have everytime on Pirates! :)

On POTC, i'm not sure it's chlorine...it's sort of water, dust, and something else...I don't know, but I love it.

JC smell was mentioned...did you know that JC has become a self sustaining ecosystem? I read that somewhere.

I felt the same way when I went on its a small world. I went for the first time in 20 years this past September and it was the first ride we went on. it felt like that scene in ratatouille where the critic takes a bite of the ratatouille and then it flashes back to his childhood where you see him completely happy, comfortable and worry free. Wow what a feeling!

This was my first holiday trip and I swear the snow smelled like peppermint. It was heavy in the air and my son's hair smelled like it after.

We live in the county. Lots of horses, cows, pigs, you name it are all around. When the SMELL is ripe (being polite here) my grandkids would go whewwww P U!!

I began referring to it as Country Air.
Now when they are within the range of animal smells, they too refer to it as Country Air.

We were on the horse drawn trolly last year, the grandkids said it smelled like home.

We just stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, and every time we walked back and forth by the little ice rink it reeked of manure. Why? There wasn't anything there that particularly needed fertilizing!

There's the smell of pineapple from the Dole fruit stand in front of the Enchanted Tiki Room. I tried the pineapple soft serve (aka Dole Whip) the last time I was there and I'm seriously thinking of maybe buying my own soft serve machine and getting the mix. It was that good. My kid was absolutely eating it up even after refusing to eat anything else.

One smell I actually don't like is that gas engine exhaust smell when waiting in line at Autopia. They should really look into switching those cars to electric or something.
