I never could understand the concept taste wise.
I could understand that noodles were added to increase the volume and therefore feed more persons.

Maybe it’s a regional thing? My mom always made her chili with pasta in it, and so did DH’s mom. So whenever we make chili, it has pasta in it…usually elbow macaroni or little shells. We call it chili though, not chili mac. Maybe it was an economical way to turn it into more food?

When I think of chili mac, I think of hamburger helper chili mac, which does not have beans, and has a higher ratio of macaroni, and is more like a pasta dish/casserole. Our chili does not have nearly as much pasta in it..

I've never had it, but I guess it would be okay. Timely question, I'm actually making a big pot of chili today with some cornbread on the side. Chili homemade, cornbread out of a box.

I’m not sure what you mean. Chili over cooked elbow macaroni? Or macaroni mixed in?

I like mac & beef with a tomato sauce, but I never tried chili with any form of pasta.

Is Cincinnati chili served over spaghetti?

It’s chili over cooked macaroni noodles

I don't care for it, but I've had it and it's OK. i like chili by itself and I just don't need the extra calories by adding macaroni noodles. My daughter loves Cincinnati chili, though, and gets Skyline chili as often as she can (which is over spaghetti noodles).

Not allowed to make mac and cheese; barely allowed to buy cheese…DGD keeps mumbling something about cross contamination. I am however free to make any kind of chili I want as long as no dairy products are used. That little girl is weird, I tell ya, weird.

I have had chili with rice, but not pasta. I think it would be ok, but I prefer my chili with cheddar cheese and crackers.

Chili that is served over cooked macaroni noodles

Ew. No, thank you.

The only acceptable carb to serve with chili is corn bread.

My mon used to make white rice (similar to japanese sticky rice) and serve it on top of chili. Must be a Puerto Rican thing, although I never liked it that way.

I prefer chili on its own, but mac doesn't ruin it for me. My grandma made a pretty good chili Mac. We eat a lot of chili in my house but never add macaroni.

I don’t eat chili mac. The only ground beef with elbow noodles I make (and it’s maybe once every 3 years) is goulash.

Chili I make is thick and hearty. We will eat it alone or with Tostitos Scoops.

Cincinnati chili is a different chili. It is very thin with spices including cinnamon and chocolate, and traditionally without onions or beans. (But you can add them to make your 3-way a 4 or 5 way.) It’s definitely an acquired taste. I always have mine with hot sauce.

I voted love it, but only with Cincinnati chili. If it is traditional chili, then I enjoy that with a sprinkle of cheese and a warm slice of cornbread.
