We’ve been on 3 Disney cruise. Twice on the Fantasy & once on the Wish. Liked them all. The Wish was a 4 night cruise & that’s just not long enough for us. It goes by so fast. We didn’t see or do half the stuff we wanted. The Fantasy was the same ports (St. Thomas, Tortola& Castaway Cay). Like the 7 night cruise but tired of same ports. Not liking the cost of DCL. I’ve been looking at Royal Caribbean for their different itinerary & better cost.

Yup - this is us! We were in our mid 40's on our first Viking cruise, and now in our early 50's planning our third...not quite as old as most of the other passengers but that's ok w/ us!
We did a Rhine river cruise last year and a Norway/Scotland one in May. I was talking to a young couple on their honeymoon in the sauna room, they didn't mind being the youngest on the ship!

I was hoping someone else would say that they had been on the Big Red Boat
I haven't found anyone else who has even heard of it! I guess Disney saw how successful the cruise biz was and thought they'd just start up their own line.

Our first ever cruise was in 2007 on the Disney Magic. Not been on another Disney cruise, too pricey. Been on many others since though. And may do another Disney if the price is right.

I selected other because it's "complicated".
  1. I cruise often. I am Platinum on NCL.
  2. I have never been on DCL.
  3. I would like to try DCL but ...
  4. DCL is insanely expensive.
  5. I can afford it, but I choose not to.
  6. I would have to get over my disgust for the insane pricing to book a cruise.
  7. That might happen if I get curious enough but probably only if I collect enough Disney Gift Cards to bring the price down from "insane" to just "crazy".

Let me just say...if you want to pay for me to go on a Disney Cruise, I will gladly accept!!!

That being said, I've never seen anything to justify the cost. Yes, the DCL ships boast staterooms that are larger than the mega ships of other lines and the service is supposedly top notch, but the itineraries don't do much for me, they don't offer a drink package, my kids are older teens who love Disney but hate any kind of forced/organized vacation youth activities/groups, I really don't want to be around a bunch of younger kids, and while I've only cruised once...3-4 day cruises are a hard no for me. It seems the newer DCL ships with more stuff are the ones that get those quickie cruises while the older ships in the fleet get the longer ones. Ship size is also important since I was able to feel the rough seas on an Oasis Class RCL ship, so I see being miserable on something like the Magic. I also get a bit claustrophobic. By day 6, even that huge ship started to make me feel like a sardine.

I'm not in a hurry to cruise again, but if I do, it will probably be another mega ship on a cruise line that isn't targeted more to a certain age group. It's not just DCL. While they obviously skew younger, my 70-something parents have found that certain lines like HAL skew too old for them...although, they're growing into Princess 🤣

Been on 3 Disney cruises.

First was pre-children (went with my mom) and neither of us enjoyed it. Very disappointed, in fact.

But then I had a child and we booked a lower capacity Covid-era trip on the Dream and it was fantastic. He was not-quite-three and we had a wonderful time.

After that success, we decided a transatlantic + few days in Barcelona would be our first dip into international travel with a young child so we did that last year. He was 3. BEST trip we've taken in our LIVES. Cannot recommend it enough.

Honestly, after 2 trips with significantly reduced children on board, I'm not sure I'd be happy taking him on a full capacity sailing. That, combined with the ridiculous cost, has made cruising something we might do again down the road with a VGT rate only.

Also, I don't get the Disney magic feeling on a cruise. It's way easier than WDW but there is nothing like walking down Main St for me. I will always opt to spend money on WDW over a Disney cruise.

Have you taken a Disney Cruise?
If yes…..which ship(s) have you sailed on?
If no……do you want to take a Disney Cruise?
Check my signature. I'm a cruising fool. We didn't start cruising until 2008, but I was hooked the day we walked up the gangway on our first ever cruise (DCL, Panama Canal).

I have been on one on the Wonder to Alaska in 2009. My girls were 6 and 3 then and it was one of the only times Disney had a “ kids sail free “ promo. Also going out of Vancouver where we live it was a nice and easy no flying trip. We had a wonderful time but if we have to factor in flights I can not justify Disney cruise pricing so our following Cruise was RCCL instead and we have a Celebrity Cruise ( Japan) booked for next year.

it was one of the only times Disney had a “ kids sail free “ promo.
We were on one of the kids sail free cruises. It was a nightmare. Kids were running all over the ship with no parents in attendance. Elevator buttons all pushed in the elevators, kids running in the aisles during the shows (endangering performers), ice cream all over the self serve counter/floor, foot races in the stateroom passageways.

We went on the Wish in December - loved it - we've always wanted to go to Castaway Cay and it didn't disappoint. However it was a whole chunk of change for the three nights. We stayed in the adult only area whilst on the ship so managed to avoid as many children as possible. The staff were absolutely fabulous. We will definitely do another Disney cruise at some point.
