Let me just say...if you want to pay for me to go on a
Disney Cruise, I will gladly accept!!!
That being said, I've never seen anything to justify the cost. Yes, the
DCL ships boast staterooms that are larger than the mega ships of other lines and the service is supposedly top notch, but the itineraries don't do much for me, they don't offer a drink package, my kids are older teens who love Disney but hate any kind of forced/organized vacation youth activities/groups, I really don't want to be around a bunch of younger kids, and while I've only cruised once...3-4 day cruises are a hard no for me. It seems the newer DCL ships with more stuff are the ones that get those quickie cruises while the older ships in the fleet get the longer ones. Ship size is also important since I was able to feel the rough seas on an Oasis Class RCL ship, so I see being miserable on something like the Magic. I also get a bit claustrophobic. By day 6, even that huge ship started to make me feel like a sardine.
I'm not in a hurry to cruise again, but if I do, it will probably be another mega ship on a cruise line that isn't targeted more to a certain age group. It's not just DCL. While they obviously skew younger, my 70-something parents have found that certain lines like HAL skew too old for them...although, they're growing into Princess
