Just got our (real) tree today ! Lights and ornaments and other decorations are still in the boxes waiting to be hung..... :flower1:
Stays up until first or second weekend in Jan. when the city picks up trees for recycling.

Fill the bucket with Sprite if you want it to last longer. We got the tip years ago from a florist regarding roses, and it worked brilliantly so we decided to try it on the Christmas tree that year. Been using it ever since. The sugar provides nutrients, while the fizz encourages the tree to drink. We normally have ours up for over a month, and it feels just about as fresh when we take it out as it does the day we bring it home.
Thank you for the tip. Over the years, we’ve tried several things that supposedly preserve the tree longer: soda, sugar, corn syrup, etc. and I don’t know if they made a difference. The current position of many scientists/tree experts seems to be that these additives in the water may actually do more harm than good, and it’s best to just use plain water and refill as needed. So who knows? We did have a fresh cut made to the trunk when we bought it, and sometimes cut it again when we bring it inside. Have never had issues with a dry tree. YMMV

If it's working for you, terrific! We always used to have trouble with the tree drying out by New Year's, so Sprite was a godsend for us.

I can't imagine the time involved in putting up multiple trees much less SEVEN!!! Wowza.
We have five, but four of them are relatively small pre-lit artificial trees, so they go up quickly and easily. Its just the 9 foot live tree that takes some work. But if the other poster is putting up seven full-sized trees, I agree. Wowza.
