I hate peas and am not a big veggie person. I force myself to have some salad and certain vegetables but need to have dressing or something to hide the taste for the most part. I love green beans and also corn.

I don't like frozen vegetables in general (although I do like frozen petite peas- but not the regular ones) but that could be because I grew up on canned veg. We had canned peas and carrots growing up, and also the mixed canned veggies (Veg-All?). I really think it was more of a 50s/60s thing, when canned and frozen veggies were all the rage, as convenience foods. I do not serve either of these at home (don't think we even have them in the cupboard/freezer).

I remember my mom serving us peas and carrots often as a dinner side. I like both veggies, so I'm definitely not opposed to eating them together!

I'm "frozen dinners came in foil and we heated them up in the oven" years old. :D I didn't like the peas and carrots that came with the meal and never ate them. In fact, I didn't like many veggies, but for some reason that changed when I grew up. I love peas/carrots (and most veggies) now. :confused3

Ate them all the time growing up, though rarely now. I do like some frozen veggie combos, but not that one so much. For example, I like carrots with broccoli and cauliflower, or with asparagus and corn (Birds Eye makes this and it’s good). I like peas alone, or sometimes make them with onions and mushrooms. And carrots I mostly buy fresh and slice, then steam, sauté, or roast them. I eat mostly fresh or frozen vegetables, never canned, with a few exceptions.

Is it a southern thing I’m just asking since my house was an eastern house Is peas and carrots something that’s southern???
I don’t think so. Maybe you’re thinking of succotash? Which is typically corn and lima beans with other vegetables, sometimes tomatoes and okra. I’m in NY and peas and carrots have always been a staple.

In my distant past I did have vegetable mixes, including peas and carrots. I don’t think I have actually ever purchased them myself. I do keep frozen peas on hand, as I use them somewhat regularly in a soup.

No another vegetable I wouldn’t touch with a 10 foot pole I was just curious if peas and carrots were a southern thing or not since they were not something my eastern household ever ate obviously I am wrong on this one thank you for letting me know

Canned peas and carrots were a staple when I was growing up. So were those Veg-All canned mixed vegetables that tasted mostly of can. My mother almost always served canned veggies. Sometimes even canned potatoes.

Frozen veggies were rare and fresh veggies were practically unheard of, just fresh corn on the cob a few times in summer.

I think of peas and carrots (as well as mixed veggies) as a Midwestern idea that traveled all over the country.

My Nana, the only born here American of her generation (born in VA) made them often in a butter and water sauce.
The Caribbean grandmother added thyme to the water but of course they both overcooked them 😂
I only served them to my kiddos when money or time was tight or I was exploring American cookery (like meatloaf or I dunno, Salisbury steak).

Nowadays, I buy fresh carrots but find frozen peas delicious.

I had them as a kid. Never as an adult, they remind of the 70s. My husband hates peas so we never get them.,

Never had a peas and carrots side mixed. I buy a few frozen vegetables -corn for some recipes, green beans as a side dish, peas I like to have with my tuna noodle casserole. I sometimes buy a bag of mixed vegetables for stir frying - broccoli, etc - there are some carrots in there.

Peas and cubed carrots are a common vegetable side dish in restaurants.
I grew up with frozen peas, but once in a while we would have canned or fresh peas.
My wife grew up only with Le Sur Petite canned peas, so in the spirit of domestic tranquility that is all I have eaten at home for 42 years. My wife is not a fan of frozen or fresh peas.

I love peas as a kid and I loved eating fresh snap peas. I wish that I had snap peas on hand for snacking and it is good on glycemic load/index. Carrots are low glycemic food... cooked and raw...not fried.

Marie made shepherd's pie tonight, peas, carrots, corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, ground beef. EXCELLENT!!!!!

Not to nitpick (ok, I guess I am nitpicking) Ground beef is Cottage Pie - Shepards pie is Lamb…but yeah - same here - I always dump a bag or 2 of frozen peas and carrots into a bunch of casseroles and stews (along with a bag of pearl onions).
