I'm a Christmas cookie slacker this year. I only made 8 different kinds instead of 15. I was away for the first 2 weeks of the month, so that's my excuse.

I made peppermint patties instead of fudge this year. They are amazing!

I make tons at Christmas and only use one recipe:
1 can sweetened condensed milk and 2 cups baking chips melted together over low heat until smooth. Stir in 1 tsp. butter, 1 tsp. vanilla and 1/2 tsp. salt. Pour onto a plate and chill. Use any chips you like; milk or dark chocolate, 1/2 and 1/2 chocolate and peanut butter or butterscotch or mint. It’s fantastic. It takes longer to type out the recipe than it does to actually make. Try it once and you’ll never boil sugar again. :cloud9:

I voted other. I tried making it once. Didn't work well, never tried to make it again.

Can you all print a recipe that a 5 year old can follow?
^^ My DS started making the one above when he was a kid. So easy and no high temp cooking to worry about.

Oh wow, that is a great idea! I may try that this year as I have a cake on the menu for Christmas day.

I don't know what size cake or pans you're using, but I have 9" and 7" round pans. When working with fudge filling, I usually make the cake layers in the 9" rounds and then have the fudge set in the 7" rounds lined with wax paper so there's easy transfer to the cake when you're ready for filling, stacking and frosting.

I've never made it myself. The stuff I have tried is really good though. I've had coworkers in the past who would make it and bring it in.

Thanks for the tip!

I haven't had any fudge since my days walking the boardwalk at the Jersey Shore; now that was some great fudge.

I have a baby crock pot type thing for melting chocolate. I think Wilton????? For dipping pretzels. Would that work? Thinking that doesn't get too warm, make it with grandkids?????

Marie Nor I have ever made fudge. I do recall Marie used to make some kind of simple pseudo-fudge years ago. Cute into little cubes. It was very good.

I still recall, over 53 years ago, the great fudge we bought at some of the fudge shops on Mackinac Island, one of our stops on our honeymoon trip around The Lake back in '71.

My grandpa always made fudge.
We have the recipe but have never attempted it.
Personally as much as I like most things chocolate I'm not really into fudge.

I couldn’t agree more you would think by now my AutoCorrect would understand what I’m saying some of the things it does just infuriates me to no end it’s got a mind of its own and it’s mine is Deranged

This is the recipe I've used as an adult. I haven't made any this year, because I had foot surgery and need a walker these days (only temporary, but bad timing!). So, my kids are in charge of holiday treats. I have a list of cookies, then a separate list of "so easy, it should be criminal!" This is on the second list! I like to add walnuts, but you could make the basic recipe and stir in whatever suits your fancy--crushed up Oreos? Peanuts and mini-marshmallows? You could probably use white chocolate, too (we're not fans here).

When I was a kid, I'd make the "boil on the stove" type fudge--lots of trouble, it was persnickety. Luckily, I had brothers who were willing to pitch in and eat any imperfect batches.

My aunt makes homemade fudge every year. I have the recipe and have made it in the past. Fudge is not a favorite of mine -- I'll enjoy a piece or two of my aunt's but that's enough for me, so I haven't made it in recent years. However, this year my daughter has expressed interest in making some so we might try.

Decades ago, a friend brought some homemade fudge to an event. Everyone raved about it. 🥰 I finally cornered her for the recipe. She admitted it was the recipe on the Marshmallow Fluff jar.

I made it from that recipe. ❤️ But, having to watch my sugar intake now, I don't make it anymore.

This will be the first Christmas......maybe in my life......that there will not be homemade fudge in the house. As a kid my mom always made it. And my wife has always made it, but most of it went to work. Just the two of us this year, and being retired, and not needing the sugar, no holiday baking, at least to the level we used to do. My wife made chocolate covered walnuts and chocolate covered peanuts, and so far, those have managed to keep my blood sugar elevated all by themselves.

Fudge and other chocolate goods were avoided in the house when I was growing up as elder sister was allergic to it. Which probably accounts for my present take it or leave attitude about the treat. Now if you asked about strawberry shortcake you’d get a totally different response.
