New Year’s Eve. Good idea or not?

I have never been to Epcot for NYE. I grabbed at 10:45 pm reservation for drinks/appetizer at San Angel Inn at Epcot on 12/31. I obviously want to be outside for the midnight fireworks. When I exit the Mexico pavilion will I be able to see the fireworks? Will it be too packed to move around the area? Is it a bad idea to not stake out a spot? I don’t need the best view, just want to be able to somewhat see for the countdown. Let me know your thoughts! Thanks!

I think a 10:45 reservation might be cutting it close, even if just ordering an appetizer and not being particular about having a "good" spot. Not sure if they still do it but when we went several years ago, the walkway around World Showcase Lagoon turned into one-way traffic only -- i.e. couldn't exit Mexico and turn left toward Norway.

9 or 9:30pm would be latest I'd eat if you want to try and get a spot where you might actually see the lagoon. You might not be seated in the restaurant on time, and unless you want to rush dinner... I'd aim to be done eating and scouting out a spot no later than 10:30pm. And that may not even be enough time depending on what your viewing priorities are.
