Monday - Friday I make my DH’s lunch which is always a sandwich wrap that includes lettuce shreds. I love the convenience of this bag of lettuce shreds at 5:30am - makes sandwich prep a lot easier. So I’m wondering…..

Do you buy bagged lettuce shreds?
Do you use lettuce shreds for breakfast, lunch or dinner?
(multiple choice)

For Me…..As I mentioned, yes, I buy lettuce shreds. I’ve never used them for breakfast, but I do use them for lunch and for dinner. For lunch they go in my DH’s wraps, and for dinner they are used when I make tacos or other Mexican dishes. I buy a bag every week when I do my grocery shopping :thumbsup2

Shredded lettuce is a pretty new item on the American plate. Truth be known I barely ever buy Iceberg lettuce which of course is perfect for shredding. In an effort to up my vitamin and mineral intake I opt for dark green salad greens and just add a crispy texture to it in the form of thinly sliced radishes, cukes, etc.

Hardly ever eat breakfast ( I know, I know- bad eating habit but I’m just not hungry early in the day) but lettuce does appear at other meals.

I've bought it before but I no longer buy it. I buy a range of romaine, iceberg, and "artisan" lettuces and make my own mix which I wash/shred/pack myself. I found it last much longer in the fridge than bagged salads. That mix is used for anything we make that requires lettuce, like salads, sandwiches, wraps, etc.

Now, bagged shredded cabbage... diffferent story. :) I usually have two bags at any given time in the fridge.

I've bought it a time or two, but usually I just buy green or red leaf lettuce and use that as needed.

For me Iceberg lettuce is pretty blah.

I’ve used it for Tacos but I use so little of it it seems a waste. Unfortunately when you are cooking for one a lot of things end up getting wasted. Especially packaged food designed for families of 4.

Lettuce shreds on sandwiches is one of the reason we typically don't make sandwiches at home.

To make a good sandwich requires so many ingredients and makes a homemade sandwich more expensive than a store bought one.

To make buying all the ingredients worthwhile we either have to commit to eating sandwiches multiple days in a row or plan other meals that use the same ingredients.

Can’t stand lettuce on any sandwich I eat I throw that stuff away or try to get the sandwich without lettuce don’t put it on my tacos either if I want lettuce it’ll be in a salad and can’t get good salads around here I don’t know what it is but I just can’t so I rarely eat lettuce I like lettuce I just don’t eat it very much and I don’t want it on any sandwich I eat to me it belongs in a salad that’s just me YMMV

If I am making taco's for a bunch of people, than yes. If it is just me, I just get some bagged salad.

DH buys shredded lettuce a lot, and uses it. He does all the grocery shopping, and buys different types of lettuce all along, heads to cut up, bags, etc. just depends on what he's planning.
I really don't like lettuce much, unless I"m forcing myself to eat a salad, then it's larger leaves. I never use it on anything like a burger, sandwich, etc.

I often buy Romaine lettuce that’s cut. It Seems to last longer than the iceberg shreds for me.

I didn’t know there was such a product!

I buy whole leaf usually, or spring mix (which is also good on a sandwich).
