I probably buy about one bag per month. I will sometimes just buy a head and shred it on my own, but most times I like the convenience. It's a staple for tacos and one kid likes to do DIY Jersey Mike's at home, so it's also good for that.

Side note, that bagged brand option isn't available where I normally shop. It's also not an option at my alternative store. . In comparing your Slo's with the pics below, I'm wondering if I should choose a finer grate option on the shredder when I shred on my own. The shreds in that first pic look more like the consistency of a coleslaw blend. Just wondering how it impacts texture.

I bought shredded lettuce a few times in the past but it goes bad too fast to use it all up.

Now if I want some for tacos I just buy a small quantity of leaf lettuce from the supermarket salad bar and shred it myself.

I buy the bagged lettuce shreds sometimes to use with tacos…

Like you, Sandy, we buy it for tacos, Mexican dishes and wraps. I'll even have it just for a salad with Italian dressing once in awhile. Lunch or dinner.

I never buy bagged/shredded lettuce. They seem to go bad in a couple of days once you open the bag. I believe they are packaged with nitrogen so it tends to last longer on the shelf. However, once you open the bag and the air hits it, the clock starts ticking on how long it will last. Head lettuce lasts MUCH longer. Will sometimes buy those mixed greens they sell in plastic containers for some salad variety.

I buy it when middle DD is come from college on especially if we have a taco night. She prefers lighter lettuce and the rest of us who actually eat lettuce are fine with darker lettuce. She went back to school Monday and last night I threw out a half rotted partial bag of shredded lettuce.

The only time I buy shredded lettuce is when making tacos. Maybe 3-4 times a year.

Pretty much never buy it. If I need shredded lettuce for something like tacos, I just pick up a head of romaine and shred it.

I do buy some bagged salad kits, like this one (at Costco):

So far I have not purchased shredded lettuce. Over the years I have had some really good subs/heroes/hoagies that used shredded lettuce, some very finely shredded, to good effect.

I use butterhead or bibb lettuce which works perfectly on a sandwich or in a wrap. It lays completely flat so works great on any sort of wrap. It doesnt fall all over the place like shredded lettuce.

I typically only buy it when I am making a certain taco dip. Because I like how easy and uniform it is for that. But, I am weird and I cannot eat past the day it is opened. So, I only buy when I am going to use it all in one fell swoop.

Otherwise, only a head of iceberg or I buy 3 - 5 bagged salads for my dinners each week and just plop some protein on them and call it good.

We used to buy shredded lettuce when our daughter still lived at home as she liked to use it.
Rarely buy it any more. We don't use lettuce on tacos and burritos we make at home because the hot ingredients kind of kill the lettuce in restaurants tacos and burritos.

I avoid the prepacked stuff as much as possible, and would not buy pre shredded.

Seems like they have far more issues historically with various contaminants and shredded just adds to the risk IMO.

We don't eat iceberg lettuce so I don't buy it shredded. No nutritional value. We don't have tacos either, I made a beans and rice and sauteed peppers dinner last night on soft tortillas. (I do buy shredded cheese, cheddar and mozarella)

As retired folks we don't usually eat sandwiches at home either!

I don’t really have a use for this but we will buy some pre-packaged salads from
Trader Joe on occasion
