I am a hugger. I like them, given and received. But sometimes a person does need to "read" the audience. I don't hug everyone I see because I know not everyone likes them. plus, unless I really, really know you and like you I'm not going to be touchy, feelie.
I did NOT grow up in a hugging family at all. Not sure when or why I picked it up.

Grew up with the hug/ kiss on the cheeks move being common. Hugs still happen with people I am close to. Others I kind of wait to see if they make the first move, especially after Covid which made many hesitant to even shake hands.
