Sleepover Summer Camp - anyone sending your kids?

My parents started sending me to week-long sleepaway camps when I was 7 and I loved it. It taught me independence and self-reliance. Unlike a lot of the freshmen on my wing, I didn't suffer from homesickness when I went to college one bit and I credited sleepaway camp for it. DS14 and DS10 attend a camp run by Camp Fire and they love it. They hike, cook outdoors, do ropes courses, ride horses, swim, kayak, etc. They were really sad when they couldn't go last year. I spoke with the camp director a few weeks ago and was pleased with the thought they put into their safety protocols and the experts they consulted (local public health officials and public health doctors). We plan to send our sons as long as the local infection rates continue to decrease.

Anyone else have any summer camp updates? @goodeats did your girls get into Catalina with their deposits from last year? I put a reminder in my calendar for November 1 so he can get a deposit down on that for 2022! That drone tour of camp is seriously amazing.

We find out Monday! We got an email a week ago from Camp Fox saying that they would open, but are limited to 50% capacity and have one less week available. So they're going to do a lottery for people who had confirmed deposits for 2020. I went in and ranked the weeks, but there are only two weeks that work for us. We'll see. Haven't heard from the horse camp, but now that there is guidance from the state there should be more info soon.
