Also, very important, look for the shoe that gives your foot the best support.
An important in regards to "support" is that what is best may not always be what is more. Sometimes the best support is no support. The more support your shoes have, the weaker your feet and lower legs become which makes you more susceptible to injuries and pain.
I recommend visiting a local running store in your area, have them examine your foot, stride, gait, etc. then listen to their recommendations about what they can offer. Ask about the sketchers and see how they differ, why they would or wouldn't work for you, etc.
After less than a 2-mile walk around my neighborhood, I had a huge blister on the ball of my foot.
Blisters are caused by friction. The most common causes for blisters is friction and moisture in an area that has not been conditioned to friction.
For example, a shoe with a higher heel or narrower toe box. That being said, the most common causes of blisters are moisture and incorrectly sized shoes. Most people would be amazed to find out they are in and have been in the wrong sized shoe for probably most of their lives (different types of shoes can very easily be different sizes based off of what their purpose is).
Non cotton socks have been one of the better insertions into the blister free foot world now for some years and I would highly recommend avoiding anything with over 2% cotton on your feet. Instead, opt for something that wicks away moisture.
Most importantly when it comes to a shoe decision, you should remember that there are all kinds of different shoes for all kinds of different people who have all kinds of different feet who walk all kinds of different ways. What works for this person may not work for you. Do not confine yourself to a specific brand, but rather look for a specific type of shoe, then looks at who offers those types.
I often compare them to cars. Toyota makes the Tundra, the 4 Runner, the Camry , FJ Cruisers, etc. All quite different, yet all made by Toyota and all could come very highly recommended from different people. The first step would be identifying which model suited you best, then shopping that type of car through different manufacturers.
Same thing with shoes....identify your foot needs, where you will be walking, how much, any previous injuries, what is your current activity, level, etc..
