Skechers question

I'm thinking about buying a pair of Skechers for our upcoming trip. I know many people here recommend them. Can someone tell me what the difference is between the different styles? GoWalk, GoWalk2, GoWalk3, etc. Thanks!

I like the GW2 over the original just because I find the design is easier to slip on. A lot wear them with socks, I just put some bandaid brand body glide on my feet, let them dry, and slip on. Switched out between 2 pairs last Disney trip and left with zero blisters. Now, by day 6 my feet were getting sore, but that's with any shoes after many miles at Disney.

Despite any recommendations you might get here you owe it to your feet to go to a Skechers store and try them on your feet. When doing this, go in the late afternoon/evening after you've been on your feet all day. That will assure you a good fit.

Also, very important, look for the shoe that gives your foot the best support. Some of the Go Walk series feel very comfortable at first, but don't have much support. You'll likely be uncomfortable in them for a long day in the parks.

I have plantar fascitis, which after much OT and little tricks I have learned is becoming less of a problem, however what I wear on my feet is a BIG deal. For our summer trips, I only wear Abeo flip flops, which have support while keeping my feet cool in the heat.

For our November trip, I wore the Skechers Go Walks I had been wearing at home, and I have to say, they were fabulous. The support was enough for me, and they allowed me to wear them all day, without socks..and also without blisters, callouses, or arch pain.

I highly recommend them.

I had two pairs for my last trip one was the go walk 2 and the other was the original ones.... Loved them both and the plus was the day it rained (like thunderstorm rained) the shoes that got wet dried quickly with a blow dryer and no wet sneaker smell

I also recommend going to a store and trying them on. I had heard many great things about Gowalks; my Mom had bought a pair and encouraged my sister and I to get one as well.

Recently I had the chance to try a pair on. not for me. The sole is just too weird, though the rest of the shoe fit nicely. There is no way I would have known this without trying it on in a store and walking around in it.

I recommend the types of Skechers that have a really thick layer of memory foam in the footbed. Go Walks are okay for casual walking (running errands at home etc.) but not supportive enough for all-day walking.

I got these and loved them!

They are super comfortable, lightweight, and required absolutely no "break in" period. I have major foot issues (surgeries on both heels the last five years) and had not a single bit of foot pain with these. I highly recommend them!

I have two pairs of GoWalks. They're fine for wearing around in the summer. However, I don't wear them for walking distances at all. After less than a 2-mile walk around my neighborhood, I had a huge blister on the ball of my foot. I need more cushion and support than the GoWalks provide. Plus, I guess my feet have a funny shape because the bone on top of my foot sticks up just a little. It's enough that the GoWalks press on it and it gets uncomfortable after a lot of walking or if my feet swell in the heat. I prefer a shoe that ties on top so I can adjust the tightness if need be. Some people really swear by their GoWalks. I like them well enough for wearing around the house or for shopping, etc. I just can't wear them if I'm going to walk a lot.

I never heard of Go Walks until I was looking for comfy shoes for our most recent Disney trip. I discovered them at Meijer and bought two pairs (at an amazing price!) I think the ones I got were Go Walks 2. I brought them on the trip. I remember stepping into the park with them and told my husband, "I hope these are comfortable because they're the only shoes I brought!" And they so were! I wore them every day all day in the parks and was so comfortable. I wore lots of dresses so they looked cute too! I must say though that having two pairs was nice. There's something about switching shoes every so often that refreshes your feet. Plus, one pair felt more slightly more comfortable. I love the cute green bags the shoes come with too for traveling. Definitely check them out and try them all on. I would recommend bringing a few in the trip. Best Disney shoes in my opinion! :)

Also, very important, look for the shoe that gives your foot the best support.

An important in regards to "support" is that what is best may not always be what is more. Sometimes the best support is no support. The more support your shoes have, the weaker your feet and lower legs become which makes you more susceptible to injuries and pain.

I recommend visiting a local running store in your area, have them examine your foot, stride, gait, etc. then listen to their recommendations about what they can offer. Ask about the sketchers and see how they differ, why they would or wouldn't work for you, etc.

After less than a 2-mile walk around my neighborhood, I had a huge blister on the ball of my foot.
Blisters are caused by friction. The most common causes for blisters is friction and moisture in an area that has not been conditioned to friction.

For example, a shoe with a higher heel or narrower toe box. That being said, the most common causes of blisters are moisture and incorrectly sized shoes. Most people would be amazed to find out they are in and have been in the wrong sized shoe for probably most of their lives (different types of shoes can very easily be different sizes based off of what their purpose is).

Non cotton socks have been one of the better insertions into the blister free foot world now for some years and I would highly recommend avoiding anything with over 2% cotton on your feet. Instead, opt for something that wicks away moisture.

Most importantly when it comes to a shoe decision, you should remember that there are all kinds of different shoes for all kinds of different people who have all kinds of different feet who walk all kinds of different ways. What works for this person may not work for you. Do not confine yourself to a specific brand, but rather look for a specific type of shoe, then looks at who offers those types.

I often compare them to cars. Toyota makes the Tundra, the 4 Runner, the Camry , FJ Cruisers, etc. All quite different, yet all made by Toyota and all could come very highly recommended from different people. The first step would be identifying which model suited you best, then shopping that type of car through different manufacturers.

Same thing with shoes....identify your foot needs, where you will be walking, how much, any previous injuries, what is your current activity, level, etc..

On our trip in Nov, I took my Skechers Memory Foam tennis shoes and my Go Walk 2's. I found the Go Walks to be more comfortable. I only ended up wearing the tennis shoes one day.

I started having feet issues just prior to our trip (small toe hurt, burning and sides also sore). Couldn't find any comfy shoes and then tried Go Walks (heard about them from a friend plus here). Got myself Go Walks 2...and the comfiest shoes. Love them. Wore them the entire trip no issues.

I think the difference between GW2 and GW is just the little hole it has at the back...makes it even easier to slip on. Not sure about GW3...but again, such comfy shoes.

I haven't been on for a few days. Busy time of year as we all know. But I wanted to thank all of you for the input! I normally wear an actual walking or running shoe at Disney because I do have a tendency to get sore feet. Don't flame me. I know it's not about fashion. But just looking for something different.

I don't find my GoWalks very pretty (store didn't have many varieties when I went), but they are soooo comfy.
I've since gone to a sketchers store to also look for regular runners. Their shoes are so cute but haven't felt anything that works for me. So go and try them on if you're interested and see how they feel.

Skechers GoWalk 2 are my favorite slip ons. Plus, I also have a lace-up pair of GoWalks. No issues on our 8-day park trip earlier this month!

I do also bring an extra pair of broken in tennis shoes to wear at least once or twice throughout the trip, too (Reeboks)
