When The Lion King came out did Disney really replace Scar's singing voice actor?

I once heard a story that when The Lion King was in production and they were doing the song Be Prepared Jeremy Irons originally was both the speaking voice and singing voice of Scar but in the middle of production of Be Prepared Jeremy Irons developed throat problems and he was replaced by Jim Cummings as Scar's new singing voice but once Jeremy Irons recovered he returned to do Scar's speaking voice. Was this true and how did Jim Cummings feel about replacing Jeremy Irons doing Scar's singing voice?

Why I think they chose Jim Cummings to replace Jeremy Irons as Scar's singing voice was because when you see Jim Cummings voice villains in cartoons and movies he has appeal to the characters. And it's hard to see Jim Cummings voice cartoon and movie villains because most Disney fans know Jim as Winnie The Pooh's current voice actor and the voice of Ray from The Princess And The Frog. But I think Jim Cummings should've done the singing voice and speaking voice of Scar in The Lion King rather than go with Jeremy Irons because I think Disney chose Jeremy Irons because he's known as a huge talent and how he got to perform Scar's voice is something surprising because Jeremy is known for big roles in movies and TV

I also think Disney offered Jeremy Irons a lot of money to provide the voice of Scar in The Lion King and since Jeremy Irons is such a big star in movies he just couldn't pass up this chance. But Jim Cummings could've done a better job than Jeremy Irons. And it's no secret why Jim Cummings replaced Jeremy Irons as Scar's singing voice because Jim brings a lot of talent to the table when he sings

I was surprised that Jim Cummings could sing and he should've also done Scar's speaking voice rather than Jeremy Irons because I think when they were casting for The Lion King they mainly chose Jeremy Irons to voice Scar because Jeremy Irons was also a singer and when you cast actors who can sing they can bring a lot to the table. Did Jeremy Irons have to have throat surgery after he developed throat problems and that's why Jim Cummings became Jeremy Irons's replacement as Scar's singing voice?
