Robyn seems disingenuous... tears up at the drop of a hat for any wonderful perceived notion that transpires.
I wonder if Kody will spend more nights with her?

That bothered me too.
RE: Robyn's kids calling Kody "Daddy"
Where is the real daddy? I can't imagine my ex-husband being too thrilled if I entered into a Polygamist relationship, when my children were that young!
Where is Robyn's ex?
I have to admit, reading your posts, you guys are a lot more tolerant and accepting of other people's values than I am. I haven't watched the show, but I watched Oprah and read the article in People magazine.
It's just pure brainwashing sick to me...I can't believe the kids have not been removed. I just hate it. It's too weird, although I admit I have serious issues with the Mormon religion anyway, but this is too much. The guy is crazy, and the women are even crazier, and the kids are the victims.
I think the government should step in. I can't believe that the government returned all those kids to the fundamentalist cult a few years back either. It just makes me sick.

I can say the exact same thing about watching children being raised in Fundamentalist Pentecostal religions and I cringe every time I hear the word "Promise-keeper".I have to admit, reading your posts, you guys are a lot more tolerant and accepting of other people's values than I am. I think the kids are some of the better ones I have seen on ANY reality show. Smart, well spoken, not materialistic. I will take them over some of the Real Housewives kids or the Little Miss Perfect kids 10 times out of 10 times. If they are victims? I just don't get it. I have disagreements with a lot of what the Catholics do in terms of brainwashing their kids' stance on gay rights and women's rights. I hate that moms put their kids in pageants before they can speak. But, I will not be asking the government to intervene on Catholic families or pageant families.
I must be watching a completely different show than most of you.
I don't see anybody being unhappy with the marriage. I see women who know what they want but also know that things aren't going to automatically fit in to a perfect little box.
Having emotions is human nature and even though these women chose their lifestyle, they know that emotions are going to come in to play, whether it be jealousy, anger, etc. Just like any relationship.
What they have been saying, if people are really listening to what they say, is that living this lifestyle helps them get through these emotions and makes them a better person, which makes their relationships to their husband and to each other stronger which in turn, makes the family a tight, loving, healthy unit.
The fact that they are so open with each other about what they are struggling with is really great to see. A lot of people go through life and marriages holding in feelings which turns in to resentment and makes for a very unhealthy and unhappy life. They aren't afraid of how they feel and they aren't afraid to express it to each other. I applaud them for that.
The children seem happy and healthy and very loved by all of their parents and siblings.
I don't find Kody creepy at all. A little cheesy maybe but not creepy.
Hopefully we'll get another season to see more of this family dynamic. The more we learn about each other, the more we will be able to accept our differences and just maybe, the world will one day be, a better place.
ETA: Regarding Robyn's first husband: I think I remember her saying that it was an abusive relationship. Maybe the children don't have contact with the bio dad because of this?

I don't know why you are shocked about that. I don't want to have a religion discussion but the reality is that whatever religion you are it is expected that you will believe their stance. We know what the Catholic church believes as well as many other religions. You aren't born with opinions on these things. They are taught to you.WOW--- brainwashing?????? just, Wow...
Robyn's ex-husband is David Preston Jessop.
Well, think about it MNV: most people when faced with a family dynamic that's so completely out of their realm of comprehension need to term the teaching of that dynamic as brainwashing in order to discredit it and feel validated in their own personal choices. But in the Sister wives case, that term just doesn't quite seem to fit:WOW--- brainwashing?????? just, Wow...
brainwashed - subjected to intensive forced indoctrination resulting in the rejection of old beliefs and acceptance of new ones; "brainwashed prisoners of war"; "captive audiences for TV commercials can become brainwashed consumers"
...wait isn't "Jessop" one of the common FLDS names?
I was just about to post this! I can see the book "Stolen Innocence" on my bookshelf right now; it's the story of Elissa Wall, the girl who initiated the manhunt for Warren Jeffs and got him charged with forcing young girls into marriage. Anyhow, I remember the name "Jessop" being mentioned very frequently in that book.
