Sinister Soiree Questions

Wow 30? I saw someone post they heard 70, and I thought that was probably low, but that it would explain the high ticket price. I was figuring they would fill CRT to capacity. If it is 30, then I am extremely glad we booked it. I find that really hard to believe though!
Both of those seem way too small to me... Hey, don't get me wrong... I'll take it (!!)... I just doubt it's this small a group.

I did hear Pete say on the podcast something about 30 people but maybe he meant 30 tables instead of individual people? That number just seems so small! You would think way more days would be sold out by now if it were just 30 people total. And think of all the money Disney would be missing out on when the restaurant has the capacity to comfortably double that number at least.

I'm skeptical, but it would be awesome if the event were that intimate.

30 tables would make more sense. When we do CRT breakfast, the place is packed to capacity, each of the princesses comes to the table for pics, and we're out within an hour. Doesn't seem too crazy to me that they could manage something similar in 45ish minutes... I dunno... :confused3

I just talked to a CM in Disney dining who was pretty clueless (no surprise, the poor CMs don't get any more info than the disclaimer they have to read to us). She asked someone and the answer I got was their assumption that it would be restaurant capacity. I am going to try to call the event line but know there will be a long wait.
I'm not quite convinced that Disney would just pack guests in just for $$$, they could pack more people in at Tomorrowland Terrace for the Wishes dessert party but they don't.
Does anyone know the normal capacity for the viewing location when you get a FP+ for The parade? Is there even room in there for 200 people? My guess the capacity of the event will be the max normally in the viewing area.

I used to think the same thing. But then after you see what they did with events like last Saturday's Villains Unleashed, you really start to question everything they do.

Not in a venue with a set capacity, though...

I would NOT expect a tiny group like 30 or 70 -- I'd expect CRT at capacity.

Oh, I agree on that. I'd be shocked to see them leave money on the table like that. But maybe they feel like they can't take any more of that prime parade viewing space without ticking off too many people. I'd love to see an answer to the question of what they put in that area on a regular park day. Anyone want to go over tomorrow and count? :p

In all honesty, I probably would have caved. If we weren't planning on heading west again this year. I'm the only person on the DLR side of things actually wishing they'd add a hard ticket Christmas party. :duck:

We'll probably swap back to Halloween next so might venture east again. Nearly every Halloween party at DLR sells out. And that really puts me off.

Gotcha. I used to live in San Diego and went to DL all the time -- now it's been years but I'm thinking about a trip out there in the next couple of years. I'd love to time it with a Star Wars Half!!!

I'll look for your DLR trip reports... :)

Last year's TR is still under way and is linked in my signature.

We're smack dab in the middle of the country so don't really consider either park our home base. I am getting anxious to get back to WDW though. Still just not ready to jump in though.

Cool -- I'll take a look at that link!

I understand... you're waiting for the MM+ dust to settle... more FP+ guinea pigs to report back... ;) LOL!! :)

I assume our spot will be the normal FP+ spot. So yeah, anyone wanna go count the FP+ people? ;) When we had FP+ for the night parade last year, the roped off area was 3 rows deep with people, I'm afraid, so 30 groups sound about right if that is the marker.

I found the above blog about the FP➕ section. This says the section can hold a max of 350. So I think the guesses of 300 for this is probably about right. It looks like a great viewing area for the parade and fireworks!

I don't think there were 300 people with us in that FP+ spot, but FP+ was still testing last fall. I didn't pay attention to the spot at all this past trip since we watched the parade from Fronterland. 350 seems tight. :headache:

If there really were 300 people in that section, I'd probably be tempted to leave and head over to Frontierland or down by the train station where you can usually find a curbside spot pretty easily.

I haven't paid attention to the area in person, but i guess the pictures I just pulled up make it look bigger than it is. I searched on the capacity for the restaurant and the best I could come up with is 130. That would be pretty roomy for an area that can hold up to 350. If these numbers are true. Can only guess until we see the reviews start to come in.

I spoke to a CM in events and ticketing, she sounded confident that the soiree was for 100 but no more than the max capacity of CRT which she said was 120, but after a bit of Google searching several sources confirm that CRT actually has seating for 130, this may explain if anyone misheard 30. She also told me that parade and fireworks viewing is NOT in the typical FP+ reserved spot but in the actually castle four-quart area, not sure where that is... just relaying what I was told... If nothing else then we know there will be no more than 130 for the Soiree and possibly as little as 100.

My daughter and I are booked for 9/23- her birthday. :) However Im not really clear on the logistics of the actual party. When I booked the CM did not give me a choice of seatings- just told me to check in at will call or at the forecourt stage/central plaza area then be at the castle by 10:05. Is the dessert party from 10:15-11? What time do I need to be at the 8:15 parade viewing location? Had I had the choice I would have chosen the later seating... :rolleyes2

If the viewing area was actually on the four-court stage it would really be as advertised a "A Wicked Takeover of Cinderella Castle"
