Well I just looked on Budget site for a rental for Mar 10 - 16 and saw the lowest rental price at MCO that came up was a 12 person van for $148 and the next car was a compact for $160.. I can just see myself and my one piece of luggage riding around Disney in a big 12 person van.

On the other hand if anyone is looking for a van check out Budget.

Supply and demand. Most people want a compact or mid-size, not a van. They obviously have vans they want rented and they obviously make money at that price.

That's funny. I usually laugh at those cargo vans because they are usually like $1,000/week. Guess not all the time.

I saw those too! I briefly considered getting one and seeing what kind of rates I could charge for an impromptu shuttle service during our trip. :rotfl2:

Yah that happened to me sometimes too. These oversized vehicles are great with a weeks of cruise luggage for dual families....

Compared to a minivan... Keep in mind...
  • not all have backup cameras
  • you need to find bigger parking spaces for that extra length
  • watch those side mirrors on narrow streets
  • turning in a small parkade can be challenge
  • fuel economy
  • are there DVD/Blu-Ray players for long road trips?

Yeah, these prices on Budget vans in March are odd. If you want one because of the price, go ahead and book it (not prepay!), but about a week before you leave you'll probably find better rates on more traditional classes of vehicles.
