oh my!

I just wanted to let people know that I jusdt bought my 3rd imac..and decided to take those One to One classes. I have to say, this is the BEST thing that APPLE has done!

Even thou I know Safari now, and itunes, iphoto...etc. there is so much more I just did not know about! I am having a blast going there everyweek, and learning smething NEW!!

So if anyone is wondering about this....the $99 bucks is just so worth every cent!
I would even pay more for it! (ya better get it while it is 99!)

They even give you an APPLE notbook, you can write everything down...:thumbsup2

Wow, you have 3 and you still are getting something out of the classes? this is my first, I just converted from Windows. My Dell had gotten on my last nerve and I sold it.

yes, I have an ibook, and I did have an imac G5 a couple of years ago, I just got my 24" imac the end of May. There is just way to much to learn! It is sorta like trying to do all of Disney in a 5 day visit!

What sort of things do they teach you? Is there some sort of structure?

you have no seule...yo learn what you want to do. Sunday I am going to work on my photos, then next week I want to do the iweb. I also want to learn how to do a webpage for myself!!

Since I just got mine, I'm not really sure what I want to do with it yet. I'm not even sure what I can do with it yet. I need to learn how to do just about everything.

then they would start you with mac 101. it gives you a complete rundown on what this computer has to offer! and then you go into what you want to work with...they will help you every step of the way. It sure beats trying to read a book about it. I cannot learn that way.

me either. I tried that with Windows and I never got really good at it. I learned the most from the hands on classes I took.

walk in and tell them everything you know is Windows. the the weird thing about OS X is it's very simplified, but much more powerful than Windows. keyboard commands are a big difference.

some people switching from Windows have a hard time just getting over mounting and ejecting a program.

I had to figure out how to cut and paste! I kept trying control c and control V and NOTHING would happen! Finally, I tried the apple button with the C and it worked!

I also kind of miss right clicking on the mouse and having stuff happen.

Ok the one thing I HATED about going to a mac was the loss of the right click. When I worked (I quite my job because we are relocating) I used it all the time. So I bought a $20 USB 2 button mouse and all is good. It works just fine with the mac and I have my right-click back.

There is also a way to configure the Mac mouse to function as a 2 button mouse. If I were using my mac - I could tell you how to do it but that machine is packed for the move and I'm forced to use my DS's PC. ;)

I am still having a problem with that, I am getting better thou. I have a right click on my ibook, so this mouse I have is new to me.
I could not figure out how to copy & paste....I know now to click on EDIT at the top left and click on copy or paste, and somthing about the control button with the letter C ! Lol

Wait, does the imac not have ctrl click = right click? That is what I do on my iBook.

ETA: To copy I highlight and hit apple and c. To paste I highlight and hit apple and v.

copy and paste are apple C and apple V - apple X will cut.

it is the key directly to the left or right of the space bar (where the PC Alt Key would be).

Also - there is no 'control - alt - delete' on a Mac. On the rare occasion you might need that function you can use 'option - apple - esc' to bring up the force quit menu.

Task Manager isnt just used to close programs that locked up it can also open new programs, get info on how much memory is being used by each program that is running, monitoring CPU and RAM usage and log into other accounts or shut down the computer.

Thanks for all the info! I just got my new ibook - came in the mail yesterday, so I'm just starting to play! So excited, and I think I made a wise purchase - I've had enough of PCs, especially with Vista being the only OS avaliable now.
