HI, has anyone used the silver plan and was it worth the money?? I am going for 8 days with my bfriend and 3 yr old daughter, we are planning on taking our time and would like to rest here and there with a few sit down meals a day. Do you think the Silver plan is worth it?? Would be nice to have the Silver Plan paid..not worry to much for money for food..thanks
Kristen
P.S. would be especially nice if I could use the 4 for 7 plan...we'll have to wait another month to see if they do it.

I personally dont think it's worth the money...I'd rather pay for everything separately. If you want prepaid meals you could always overpay for your room reservation and have a credit to charge on to your room...That's what I do...

Kristentheangel - Hello, I have never used it before but we are going to this summer. There are a lot of people here at the DIS that do feels it's a waste of money but I'm thinking the same way you are. We have a couple dinner theatres planned, the Hoop Dee Doo and the Polynesian Luau. The would cost us a lot of money by themselves. There are also a couple of activities that we are going to try with our magical wishes. We wold NEVER do these things without those magical wishes. We would have too much trouble spending that kind of money on them. I just like the idea of having them paid for ahead of time. I also like the idea of having preferred viewing at parades and such. That's a real bonus for me.
There has been a few people that have given some good advice for the best ways to make sure you get your moneys worth on it. Study up on this and I believe it will be worth your while. I will know more after our trip in July.
Good Luck in making your decision. Remember, what works well for one may not work well for everyone. Everyone's situation is a bit different.

I have never though it was worth the money either. You will have paid for these meals and feel like you must use them when you might not want a big meal that day or night. Your little one can eat at most of the nicer resturants for under $5.00, and you and your boyfriend can deside on a light meal or a large over the top meal, a few times during your stay.

The money you would have spent on the silver package can be saved and put in a special "meal envelope" then the meals will still be paid for and you wont have to worry about meal money...But I guarantee if you use the same amount of money just on your food that you would have used on the package that you will have money still in the envelope when you get home.

The silver plan is worth it if you plan on using some of the Wishes for tours, dinner shows, Cirque du Soleil, or Recreation. If you are using it strictly for meals, you will probably lose money. I would suggest trying to figure out where you want to eat, and look up the menus, guessing what you'd get for food, and tallying up the money.

When I used them on a three night trip in August, I saved about $80-100 because I used wishes for two tours. I don't think I would use it if I was just planning on using them for meals.

I agree that you should calculate what you would spend the wishes on and see if its worth it. Remember that each wish costs $34 per adult and $17.50 for your 3 year old. So each meal or activity should cost at least that. Also, the wishes are "pooled" so you do not necessarily have to use the child's wishes for the child. All of you need to be on the silver plan if you decide to to this route (i.e. you can't have one person on the plan in the room and the others not). Plus you need it for your entire length of stay (unless you split your reservation). You can't just do a day or two.

We used the Silver Plan in July. For us it was worth it. It would not be worth it for your 3yr old, but everyone in the room must be on the plan. What you could do is pay cash for any meals that your 3yr old would be eating and use her wishes for other things that are a better value. If you plan where you want to eat and what recreation you want to do, you can get your monies worth. Remember that each adult wish is worth aprox. $35 and plan accordingly. Dinner shows are a great use. Tours are also a good value, but there are age restrictions on most (actually I think all but 2). Also your DD will not be old enough to use the Children's Activity Centers(ages 4-12).

In December (for our second trip this year), we are trying the silver plan. Although many may not think it is worth it, I figured out how much we paid for dinner and for the character breakfasts we want to do, and it is worth it. Of course, it could be that we are usually 15-20% tippers, and that can add on to your dinner cost. Since a wish covers all that. . .we decided it would be worth the idea of not having to have to worry about the money for meals. However, we do not have any children, so we are just talking about the two of us using it.

So far, we have are going to: Hoop-de-doo Revue, will try for at least 2-3 character breakfasts, and will eat at sit down restaurants for dinner like Brown Derby and LeCellier.

I think it does depend on how you use the wishes. . .but if you know how much you usually spend, like we did last year, you will know if it works for you.

Thanks for all your input. I havent booked the trip yet, pending the May announcement of the 4/7 plan. But, I think we would pay cash for my daughter's meals and use the wishes for the adult meals...on vacation, we will eat...definately at Char. Meals and things like the Hoop... I am going to look at the menus that we might use and decide based on that info...thanks..Ive got some research..
