Show me the shot you're most proud of

This is one I took in Myrtle Beach the other week. I was just trying out settings. Someone walked through all the birds on the beach and they took off. It worked out better than I thought it would.

I love this picture! Didn't you post this on the "pictures from your neck of the woods" (or whatever it's called) thread last week? Absolutely beautiful!

My favorite of late because I like the giraffe, but this illustrated my patience as a photographer, which is growing. You learn to wait for the right shot. The elephant is just getting something out of its eye, but it looks like a game of hide and go seek.

Actually, it looks like the elephant's cheating. :lmao:

Nice pic. :thumbsup2

That is one Great Shot
I would have to wait several days to get a shot like that!!!:thumbsup2

I have two! The first is my all time fave from years ago, and the other is from last Christmas decorating the tree - Disney ornaments of course!

I have a few that I LOVE.... here are 2....

At the zoo behind plexiglass-I can't believe how clear it came out without the flash glare!

And at the pumpkin patch last fall....

Both taken with my Nikon D50 & 18-55mm lens :)

This first I am proud of because I took it handheld with a 1/8 second shutter speed. I used a couple techniques to steady the shot that I picked up on the DIS boards :thumbsup2 :

This one was a case of waiting for a shot to get what I wanted:

My first Moon shot

That's nice enough, but I've noticed that most photographers shoot the same side of the moon from the same perspective. I prefer unusual moonshots taken of different sides and from different locations, like this one (which I didn't take):

I think most photographers could improve their pictures by looking at their subjects from different angles.

True, but I was just using a p&s camera, so I am extremely happy with the picture. Just curious, but where was the picture of the moon taken at. I love all the definition of the craters. I wished I was able to pick up more of the craters, but the moon pretty much always looks the same to me.

Here's what I'm most pleased with at the moment, but it could just be the subject as it's not really a great photo.:goodvibes It's my daughter trying on wedding dresses, at the last minute I realized they would let me take pictures (many placed don't allow it) so I grabbed her Nikon D70 and got this shot. It wasn't a good picture, out of focus a bit, so I applied a crosshatch filter in Photoshop.

A couple I really like...

(The board doesn't seem to want to put the pics in-line)

I love how this one came out. I posted it before I think I just can't remember where.

Not trying to be smart-alecky but, the far side of the moon is not visable from earth as the same face is always towards us. It does wobble a bit but doesn't rotate...at least from our perspective...

I do agree, however, that shots from different angles and perspectives can be more intresting and fun!

I'm sure you'd need some pretty expensive glass to take this shot (not to mention a NASA connection)

Here's a couple.

This one was pre-DSLR, I was in with the eagle exhibit at the zoo with the keeper and my Canon Powershot S2 IS. The two eagles are flightless but they can hop really far and have all of their talons and sharp beaks. I actually took this picture without looking at it as I was backing towards the door since the eagle looked really pissed off that I was there.

This was in FOTLK near the end of the fire guy's show where all the dancers start dancing around him.

I think the far side of the moon must have had a rough childhood or something.

If you click on the picture I posted, it'll take you to a link to a NASA website. As Alacrity mentioned, you cannot get a picture of the far side of the moon from earth. This picture was taken from aboard the Apollo 16 spacecraft.

I was amusing myself by badgering you with the advice so often given to photographers - "move around", "try different angles", "change your perspective." That's great when you're shooting a flower or a kid. For moon shots, it's not terribly practical.

:lmao: I'm sure Mark was just reminding us that as photographers we need to be willing to go above and beyond to get the shot. Anyone can get the common shot - go for the uncommon!

I really love taking pictures of squirrels, I know its a little weird, but I love squirrels. Here are my two favorite shots:
