Show me the shot you're most proud of

Thank you everyone for sharing your great photos. I have quite a few favorites but don't want to post them. Call me paranoid but I figure if you put it out on the Internet someone else could claim it as theirs.

The same is true for the words that you write as well.

I've posted this a number of times before and its still one of my all time favorites. Took this last year in Rockport, MA. The light was absolutly fantastic. I couldn't stop taking pictures and ended up with about 300 or so over about 2 hours.

I had it enlarged to 12x18 and its hanging on one of the walls in our house.

Safetymom, keep in mind, that if you use a place like photobucket, they automatically reduce the size of the photos when you upload to them. I have all my images on photobucket at 800x600 which is less than 1mb (less than half a mb actually). So sure, anyone can download it and claim it as theirs, but its not going to be a very big file and they'll be lucky to get a decent 3x5 out of it. I'll still have the original 5+MB file.

Oh I know. But I also work in a world where everyone has software to make it larger. Your shot in Rockport is awesome. I have some good pictures from there but I sure didn't have the lighting you did.

That could happen at your local photo store as well, as a poster here discovered last year.

Many people watermark the photos they post online.

Regardless, if someone uses your photo as their own, they're breaking copyright laws.

I know all the rules but I really don't have the time to defend my work. Yes that may cause me problems but it seems to be working for now.

There's some photoshopping here, obviously, but I just love this photo. It's my older son's first Lake Erie voyage in the Sunfish without dad with him. He was 12 years old. Smooth sailing all the way. I printed it out large for him to hang in his room.

Wow; what a great shot!

OK, I'm confused. You took the time to post to this thread but you didn't want to post a picture here because you didn't want it stolen or something. I can understand that.

The thing that confuses me is that you have a link in your sig to something called My Disney Photos. When I follow that link (hope you don't mind), it takes me to a site with lots of pictures (which I assume are yours). So why would you post a link but not a picture? Is that safer?

Oh wait, maybe you're doing what I'm doing - just posting your rejects online and keeping your good pictures safe behind your firewall. That's why you didn't want to post your best picture ever. I handled that by just posting one of the better pictures from my set of rejects.

BTW, I like your Caribbean Beach shots. I've never seen it so quiet. What time of year was that?

I just take snapshots P&S

This shot could be a lot clearer/crisper but i love the colors.

This is most likely my all time favorite shot. It is of my cousin and his new baby Sydney...

but I like this one too. It is of my nephew, Alex. He is so sweet!...

Probably not my "proudest" since it's not of my kids - lol - but I really like the detail I managed to get in this photo. :)

My wife and DS8. Was just trying to get camera settings right and they just struck this pose. Lucky capture. I never knew how much their eyes were alike. My wife says this is the only picture ever taken of her that she tolerates.

Wow, guys...some truly awesome - and touching - shots here. :worship:

Here are two of ours that I particularly like. The first is one that DW took just before we went to dinner on Formal Night on the cruise last year. It's not the best quality of pic, but it just brings back so many memories.

This second one is one of my favorite shots from the same trip. We stayed in Cocoa Beach the night before the cruise, and it was DD's first time ever actually touching the ocean. Can you tell she was just a little excited? :teeth:

After photographing this mill on a more or less regular basis over the last three decades or so, I finally got a halfway decent shot.

too bad, now you have no reason to go back to such a beautiful area;) love the way the wheel is blurred btw

if you post them on zenfolio( and i would guess smugmug )they automatically watermark them...it carries over to another site if you use the link they provide( only problem is i can't figure out how to post from there to here since it's a url:rotfl: ) and from what i read a lighter center watermark is harder to remove than a darker corner one.( crazily i had a dream bout this same subject last night which just shows the state of my brain, in my dream i made all my photos bright red instead of watermarking them...probably not the best idea:rotfl2:)

No excuse needed; we're headed back to the VA and NC mountains for our summer vacation (guess Mickey will have to wait...).

Wheel blur was a challenge, but something I had thought about and really wanted to do. It was overcast, which helped, but the D50's minimum ISO is 200, so I used a CPL to cut the light down to where ISO 200 + f/16 + CPL = about a two second exposure, IIRC.

This is one I took in Myrtle Beach the other week. I was just trying out settings. Someone walked through all the birds on the beach and they took off. It worked out better than I thought it would.

My favorite of late because I like the giraffe, but this illustrated my patience as a photographer, which is growing. You learn to wait for the right shot. The elephant is just getting something out of its eye, but it looks like a game of hide and go seek.
