My dh and I are traveling to the world in December on the dining plan. My question is do you think we should pay for a character breakfast out of pocket and utilize the credits for a different meal? What would you do and why?

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Depends on where your TS restaurants are but for the most part, yes, that's not a bad idea. Most breakfast buffets are under $20 while a nice meal at Le Cellier for example will run you far more than that. You can get the most of our your TS credits by using them at nice dinners rather than breakfast buffets. I'm doing this because we have more restaurants picked out than TS credits.

thanks for the quick response! Any recommendations on ones with good food. We do not care if there or are or not characters. Breakfast is my dh's fav meal and I want him to enjoy

I haven't been yet (going in September) but Boma is one of the cheapest ($16.99) and I hear it's one of the best (unique plus regular breakfast foods) and you get to see the beautiful AKL. This is where we're taking our in-laws.
For the best characters, Chef Mickey's is also under $20 ($18.99) and has the usual breakfast foods plus a pb&j breakfast pizza. It gets mixed reviews, but I think Donald's Breakfastosaurs in AK is also one of the cheapest and can get you into AK park early... I hear they have Krispy Kreme donuts.
It's the princess ones that are most expensive ($23- $34) so I'd avoid those.

Oh! And they're not buffets, but Spoodles (Boardwalk) and Kona Cafe (Poly) also have wonderful breakfasts!

find whatever is the cheapest and pay. In the past we have had to pay for a buffet because we madr mores sit donws res than we had. figure what is cheapest. We eat at LeCeleir a lot and if you buy a app, dinner and desert is is more exp per person than a buffet.

Yes, this is exactly what we do. The breakfasts are much cheaper and if you're doing more than one TS meal/day or more during your stay than the TS credits you're allotted, then by all means, find the cheapest of those TS meals and pay OOP for them.
