I am planning a stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge in Sept. My son has allergies to dog and cat dander. I am not familar with the animals that are in the savanna area of AKL. I was curious if anyone has simular symptoms and has stayed there. Any infromation would be greatful, I would hate for the little guy (2 years old) to have a bad 3rd trip to the Happiest Place on Earth.

Our son has alergies and before we do AK or our local zoo we give him a dose of allergy meds. We talked to his allergist before our first trip and that is was he told us to do. Maybe yours could recomend something. I'm going to PM you with one more idea.

Im currently there right now and I have EXTREME allergies toward animals.. Im not doing bad at all.. everything seems to being going good so far :)

I've stayed there with my DS three times, and he's extremely allergic, especially to cats.

He didn't have any problems staying there. Also, we learned recently that you can request at VIP cleaning of your room prior to arrival. We did this in December 2008 at the BWI, and our room was so clean he didn't wheeze once that trip (well, maybe once). Hotel rooms usually bother him, sometimes a lot.

They clean the carpets, change out the bedding, change the A/C filters, etc. The room was very dust-free and clean. It made a huge difference for my son, so maybe that would be a good idea?

I appreciate all the great answers. I think I am going to try the VIP treatment for house cleaning and see if I can get one of his air purifiers in a suitcase. Looking forward to our trip which is less than 6 months from now. It will be the third time for the little guy. Thanks again
