Should I make another Disney Christmas trip?

I have to be honest; all the FP+ rants are starting to wear me down. I'm actually starting to second guess our Disney Christmas trip this year! As you know, it’s the busiest time of the year, and I cannot imagine how the FP+ system is going to respond. We have made this trip twice before, and I can honestly say we did not wait longer than 20 minutes for any ride. I do meticulous planning and we make RD at every park. We will be staying 10 days but I'm not sure if I want to deal with all the problems this time around. Scheduling a FP+ to only show up and have a unacceptable line would really mess up my planning! Let me get some opinions on Christmas with FP+.

To me it seems the main discriminator between liking FP+ and disliking FP+ is how much you were familiar with and used legacy FP. Did you successfully gather 4, 5, 6, or more FP in any given day in the past? If so, I think FP+ will crimp your style. If not, I think you'll be just fine.

If you can make RD everyday you'll probably be OK. I would keep a close eye on how Spring Break and Easter go in the next few months. I would imagine Disney is gathering lots of good data right now on the long FP+ lines and I would hope some changes are made. I fear though this might mean less available FPs. But if you are able to make ressies at 60 days I would imagine you'll get what you want too. The good news is you can see what happens at Spring break and easter and you won't have hit your 180 day window yet.

FTR - I tried FP+ this past Dec. It was right after thanksgiving tho so not as crowded as Christmas. I only had FP+ and I did get in before tiers. I did feel I didn't get as much done ride wise in the afternoon but that gave me time to visit resorts and I really wanted to see all the decorations so I was OK with not as many rides. Full disclosure though - there are many changes to the FP+ system I would love to see and I honestly feel that I don't have the right to tell someone else how to spend their money. If you don't think you'll get the value you want, I would reconsider. It would stink to lay out the cash and not get the return you're looking for.
