Shipping wine to the resort?

On the white side, a lovely summer-time wine is Vinho Verde, a slightly effervescent wine hailing from Portugal. It's light, airy, and exceptional with light salads and seafood. A little heavier in body, Torrontes is a largely Argentinian varietal that hints at being a Chardonnay but with a bit more aromatics (my favorites have a hint of lavender) and minus the oak or butter hints that many Chardonnays possess. From the reds, we enjoy Pinotages with our favorites coming from South America--their uniqueness is unmistakable: lightly smoky with lots of berry and pepper notes. While not exactly a lesser known wine, Montelpulciano d'Abruzzo is our go-to accompaniment to most Italian sauces, especially long-cooking one such as Bolognese. Finally, Chile has a wonderful red called Carmenere: succulent, with moderate tannins, and dark berry flavors. Equally adept at complementing a steak or a burger. Slainte!

My favorite white usually winds up being a Sauvignon blanc from new Zealand with a good grapefruit bouquet. But there are some Chardonnays I love and some white burgundy.
I lean toward white in the summer because it's chilled, but in general I prefer red - and there I am a conspicuous napa girl. Which one really depends on how much I'm willing to spend. If I'm in a crazy mood, I'll do a Cakebread Cabernet. Oh... And Italian reds! Barollo, tuscans..... Oh - and red zin.... Ok, too early in the day for this!

Our go-to wine is Sauv Blanc from the Marlborough region of NZ--love that grapefruit bouquet and zest of the citrus with the many salads and light dishes we prepare. In fact, that's what I'm sipping this very moment before making a grilled Romaine lettuce salad. I used to do Chardonnays quite a bit, but I prefer the light body of S. Blanc or Chenin Blanc or Sancerre. S. Africa has some mighty tasty whites, too, but generally not as appealing to us as NZ wines. California wines have gotten a bit too unctuous and expensive for my tastes, though I recognize the appeal in them and still appreciate an old vine Zin every so often from there. Like you, I enjoy Italian reds--they're a must with certain sauces. Beyond the Pinotage and Carmenere I mentioned earlier, my favorite red through the past decade has been a Malbec. The best provide the dark berry notes from a CA Cab while also giving you a good kick of spice and pepper like a good Zin. Ahh, wine. One of life's most sublime pleasures. ;)

Have not been down in a while, and not a wine connosss....expert, but even in the resort stores it seemed pretty reasonable.

Enthusiast. lol Comparing prices to a typical wine shop one might find the prices a bit higher, but given Disney's mark-up for food and entertainment, their wine prices seem like a veritable bargain. :thumbsup2
