We are traveling to SSR in October with a 2 year old. We have WAY more than we can carry and are thinking about shipping something to SSR. Has anyone done this? Do you just address it to SSR, ATTN: Front Desk and on the sides put Hold For, your name, res number, and date of arrival? Also, can we ship it back home from SSR or do we need to take it to a ups type store? Thanks for any advice!

I've shipped countless packages and you do exactly what you've said (except I haven't put my reservation number on it).

If you can, buy the prepaid priority mail boxes from USPS for the return trip (just don't forget the packaging tape to put the boxes together). It doesn't matter how much they weigh so you can drop them at the front desk. USPS has a couple different box sizes. The boxes themselves are free through the USPS website. All you need do is put the $8.10 postage on the boxes (which is two stamps). Believe me, this is MUCH cheaper than shipping through Disney.

Actually, you might also consider using UPS. We used the front desk at OKW to ship our boxes of pirate costumes back home after our DCL cruise. The charge was exactly what we had paid UPS to ship them east to DCL - there was no handling fee. The UPS charge was in the neighborhood of $5 - $10 and the resort charged it to our room account.

Really? Wow that would be pretty convienient! I have to admit that I like being able to track my package so maybe I will go that route. I will ask SSR if they can ship via UPS or Fedex. If not, I will figure something else out.

Will you have a car?

I shipped a large box to myself VIA ups to SSR. I included packing tape & a prepaid return label. After vacation was over, I filled the box, and we dropped it off at the UPS store in Celebration on our way to the airport.

Yep, I will have a car and most likely will send via Fedex. I think that maybe I will just have SSR send it because I am not sure I want to deal with stopping somewhere with 6 other people in tow. Trying to get to the airport on time is going to be hard enough! LOL

We were thinking of doing something similar when we go in a couple weeks. We wanted to send down some non-perishible groceries to BCV. I have heard others say it works great. Our only problem is I'm not sure of the exact address to send it to to get to BCV, and exactly how to mark it so the receiving resort doesn't "misplace "it! (we will be on DCL the week before) ;) I like the advice not to put ressie number on it, I guess that WOULD be info best left private.

Having the front desk (we were at OKW, but I'm sure all the resorts will provide the service) handle it for us made it very simple to deal with. I'm a great fan of letting someone else do the work, especially if it costs nothing additional.

And we found that FedEx was way more expensive than UPS ground.
