SHIP OF FOOLS SISTERHOOD - Strong & Healthy in 2005!!!

Good for you for persevering, Denine! :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

I'm following WW without the meetings too (they cancelled the lunchtime one near my office; Lara's schedule doesn't make it easy to get to other ones  ) but I'm determined. This is my "support group"! I decided that as long as I weigh myself once a week and record everything, I'm doing the best I can.

Tracy - for your records: -3 lbs this month! Many more to go, but it was a move in the right direction!

Woo Hoo!!!

Everyone who wants to, let me know your total loss! So far for January we're down 7! Keep up the good work all!

I weigh myself daily (ok, I'm obsessed, but been doing it for 3 years now so why stop?). Since my last official weigh-in, I've dropped another 2! Hopefully this week will be a big loss. I won't be at my meeting this week, but hopefully I can get the topic.

Mark, get back to your manly brotherhood thread...really now...

BTW Sisters, I made a new and tasty tortilla soup tonight. PM me if you are interested in the recipe. Soups fill you up without too many calories or fat grams.

Barb ~ I would like that!

Why not post on this thread. Sound very good!

Well I started with the Gazelle this morning! Interesting! DD has been watching the infomercial on it and just sits there and says, "no not that way"LOL

The cat hasn't quite made up his mind about it it! I hit him once when he was walking by! Poor thing! It's taking up his lounging area!

Hey everyone!! I thought rather than merging this thread with the existing one for the August 20 cruise, I would send this thread over to our WISH Board where folks gather to share diet, eating habits, exercise, etc.

Good luck with your goals for your upcoming cruise!! :sunny:

Hey Denine--
I sympathize with you about the little kid thing!! I gained 50 pounds with Addison and now that she is 22 months I am finally able to really excercise. I lost 30 pounds w/in the first 6 weeks of her life just from nursing. Over the past year and a half I have slowly lost 10 more. Now I am down to the final 10 pounds (although I am happy with myself now regardless of being 10 pounds heavier than pre-pregnancy days--just need to firm up that baby flab skin I have!!). Addison is a really easy going child, though, so she plays and watches from a distance while I jog. Note: not always the case though--I joined a gym when she was 3 months old and had to quit after a month of them calling my name from the nursery over the loud speaker. She was a very high-strung infant!!!

It hasn't been easy--I am not 23 anymore and my metabolism has slowed!!!!
With that said--pull that treadmill out!! I got frustrated and put mine away--only to pull it out last week. I did 4 days of 30 mins. walking/jogging. Than today was the first day I excercised this week and I did a slower paced jog than I do when I walk/jog combine, but was able to do it 45 mins. since it wasn't as intense. Believe me--I hate excercising!! I come from a family where all the girls in our teens and twentys had great metabolism and had to do nothing. Now--not the same!! I need to work at it.........and I have found it's easier to stay on top of the cardio part if I let no more than 1 day go between doing it (excercising that is for the fool men on here).

Also--I know I NEED to do it from a genetics stand-point. My dad has heart disease (as did his dad). In Dec. 2001 he had a quintuple (that's 5!!) by-pass. Thank God he's good and has a fresh heart, but I need to do the cardio because it's in my genes.

And if you're not losing weight--do what I do........get rid of the scale. I just go by what clothes say and weigh myself when I am at a friend or relatives house. I found I am much happier this way. It motivates me more to see me go from one size down to the next size.

Don't get bummed!!!

All the WIshers are going to see the name of this thread and go HUH?

Thanks Amanda. I will persevere, somehow. I really do so much better, when DH and I can walk outside. We always did 3 miles with hills. Now we moved and lost our walking spot (warm weater walking spot). There is a new place, but it is not hilly.

Kaleigh is what they call a strong willed child. She has never been easy. Well, except for between 6 and 11 months. Then , she was easy.

Tomorrow I weigh in, for good or bad.

Tonight is Ham and Potato Gratin, 4 points plus a salad.

I would love to join curves, but they don't have child care, and DH and I get so little time together as it is that I don't want to go in the evening. So, the treadmill it is.

Hi guys, my goal was to lose 50 pounds by the time of the cruise and so far I have lost 33 pounds. I am thinking about making it a total of 60 pounds but will see when I hit the first goal. I am doing it by LA Weight loss.

Amanda, you were talking about YOUR metabolism slowing down think about me at 51! I think it has come to a stand still!!!

I haven't started exercising but I do have to consider it. I have to get rid of those unsightly dimpled legs! Any ideas?

Good luck to all!

Amanda, i couldn't agree with you more!! How many times have i stubbed my toes when i get angry and kicked my scale!!! LOL!!

Well i am getting a head start...Because i was sick over the weekend, i had nothing but water and soup,. so my jeans feel loose already when i put it on today!! Also, i shoveled my deck this afternoon, so i can use my BBQ grill to fired up again...I'm tired of cooking meals in my oven...so boy, was i out of breath!! My deck was 15 X 15 and had 6 inches of HEAVY snow.. Whew...well that my excersice for the day.
I have gotten away from soda and sweets so far. I know it takes 21 days to break the habit so i hope i will make it.....I am not going to have a goal of how many pounds to lose...otherwise, i will just get frustrated so i just do what i am able to do and live happily... :)

Denine--the treadmill is great. I can feel it in my legs. Just SO BORING!! So since I love country music and my husband hates it--I am at least able to listen to it while on the treadmill. I have DirecTV and I turn it to the 800's to find the country music and then I can manage excercising longer! Sometimes I'll walk or run depending on if the song is slow or fast!! Hey--whatever I can do to keep my caboose in motion (and boy is that thing in motion while I'm jogging!! LOL!!). :rotfl2:

Thanks Amanda, now if I could only lose the other 33! That would give me room to gain on the cruise! lol

All these pages? Go check out our thread on the Cruise Meets board. What are we up to now, 650?? Welcome to our group!

Ok sisters, today is the day! I'll try to post tonight as to how everything turned out. Should see a big weight loss today because I can't eat! They said nothing for 4 hours before appointment. Appt is at 8:45. I was not getting up before 4:45 just for food! I can have water and my Diet Cherry Coke this morning. That's good enough I guess!

Thinking and praying for you Tracy!!! When we see you post again, we'll know all went great!

Hugs,

Barbara

Yes Tracy ~ Good Luck!

BTW, even though I have been feeling under the weather, another Sinus Infection, last night DD would not let me use the Gazelle but I got up extra earlier today to use it!LOL

This is the first time that I've actually enjoyed doing excerses! But then I've only been doing it since Monday, so I'll leave it at that for now!LOL

Speaking of scales ~ I was at a store that had one and when I got on it, I wanted to throw it across the room! But then I remembered that I had my purse on my shoulder plus the other stuff I was buying!

I know I've lost something 'cause my jeans are feeling a lot looser!

Drink Your Water!

A quick post to let you all know I'm doing fine. I'll post more on the main thread (I shouldn't be on the computer much today, but had to let my sisters know how I'm doing!"

Great News, Tracy!!! You've been in my thoughts and prayers today - glad that all is well.

Now rest and do what the doctor tells you!
