Wonderful, Denine!! :cheer2:  :cheer2:

You must feel so good!!! :cool1:

We are all going to be skinny for this cruise! Only 25 more pounds to go!

Thanks guys!

Denine, I can't believe that I am actually losing. As you know I tried before but didn't succeed. This cruise was such an incentive. I was so afraid of the heat and my weight combined would make me more miserable than most.

Hey, can anyone help me? I am needing to tone my butt and thighs. I have MAJOR dimples and I mean major. Tons and tons of them. Crunches aren't good for my abs because I have arthritis in my shoulders. Any ab advice?

I didn't officially weigh in yesterday. Retaining a bit too much and didn't want it written down.

We had two people in the last two weeks make it to lifetime. Both of them lost 22 pounds. They didn't have much to lose and I think they were feeling that the rest of the group was unhappy seeing them make goal. Jennifer, this week's lifetimer, said it's not about the amount of weight you lose or need to lose. It's about attitude and tenacity. It's a mindset. You are doing what is necessary for yourself.

I shared with the group that as hard as it may seem to make the right choices, it does get easier and easier! You know they say practice makes perfect! It's not all about habits, though that plays a big part. We have a frozen custard place near home that is great. Before WW, we would go there everytime they had a great flavor of the day, nearly 3-4 times a week, and get a shake. I can't even begin to imagine the number of points (it's more than 10). Once we started WW, we limited it to once a week, then once a month, looking for the best flavor. I can't tell you the last time we ate there. I don't think we've been there this year yet, and probably not even December. Sitting here typing, I can still taste the custard and it would be great to have, but the thought doesn't push me to go there anymore.

Now on to the topic of the week!

What are Valentines all about? When you were in grade school and gave away Valentines to all your classmates and friends, what was the purpose?

Good feeling, showing them that you cared about them and liked them. A little pick me up.
You're the Best!
You're Special!
Looking Good!

The problem lies in the way we talk to ourselves. When you look in the mirror, what do you say to yourself? "You need to lose weight", "who would like you", "You'll never be able to get healthy". Would you tell a friend that? NO! So why do you talk to yourself that way!

Develop Positive Self Talk: What you tell yourself becomes reality. You need to tell yourself positive things

Keep up the good work!
Slender You!
Stick to it!
You're special!
You're well on your way to your goal!

One of our members shared an interesting analogy. When you are on a plane, the flight attendant says if the Oxygen Mask comes down during the flight, you are to put yours on first before helping others. This advice should be taken for every aspect of your life. You are the most important thing in your life -- before your significant other, your children, your parents, your siblings, your friends, you work.....Treat yourself like it.

Both new lifetime members said what made it easier for them is they finally said "I am important. I need time to work out for me" and just did it. Yes, you may have to adjust your life a bit. Yes your family may have to wait for you once in a while instead of you waiting for all of them. That's ok. They will accept it. Do it for yourself.

Quote of the week:

"You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection"

Have a great week everyone!!! Be good to Yourself!!!

My Dh went to WW yesterday and e mail me this...Thought i shared this with you....

Caesar Salad

*Now just 3 points!*

1/4 c. fresh lemon juice
2 Tbsp water
2 Tbsp grated parmesan cheese
2 medium garlic cloves, sliced
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp red wine vinegar
2 average anchovies canned in oil, drained, finely chopped or mashed with a fork
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp Worchestershire sauce
1/4 tsp black pepper, freshly ground
4 c Romaine lettuce, chopped, rinsed well, and patted dry

1. Combine all ingredients, except lettuce in a blender or food processor; puree until blended (Note: omit the anchovies if you don't like the flavor)

2. Place lettuce leaves in a large bowl and toss with dressing until well coated. Yields about 2 cups per serving!

OK, that was some "read" Tracy! I just made the "choice" this week to stop eating so much junk food. I have been eating good meals, but not good snacks. You are very right, it is a conscious choice. I liked your story about your custard store. Last night, I ate two tangerines instead of junk. The more I make these choices, the easier it gets. Since my surgery, I have made bad choices and blamed it in on my surgery. Well my girlfriends, it's probably more my bad choices that has caused me this grief, and not the surgery or the meds I need to take now. They do play a part, but now I need to be even more deligent about making healthy choices. So, it's all up to me and my attitudes and choices. Thank you Tracy. All you share is making a big difference to my life. I like the girl I see in the mirror, and I'm working toward loving the girl that I see on the outside too.

Hugs,

Barbara

Barbara:I sure understand how surgery can change things. I had a reduction almost 5 years ago, and proud of it. I always felt fat because of how big I was on top. I got them reduced, and now I am overweight. My shirt sizes hadn't changed so how could I have gained that much weight?

I did lose about 24 pounds a couple of years ago. I was 9 pounds from my goal weight, but I did it the wrong way. That may have contributed to the awful fatigue I experienced the following winter. The doc ran all sorts of tests and they came back normal. He put me on B12 shots and a prescription vitamin. After a few months I started to feel better, but I had gained all my weight back.

This time, I am losing weight the right way and have no intention of gaining it back once it is gone. I am learning how to eat right and portion control.

This cruise is a huge motivator for me.

Thanks for everyone's help and support!

Hi, All....

Just discovered your thread. It's taken me so long to catch up on the Repo thread, I feel I've missed a lot of info and links, etc.

Didn't go back and read all your postings, but are you all on a "group diet"? If so, what plans are you using? I'm joining Weight Watchers next week and hope to lose another 25 (lost 22 for my last cruise).

If there's anything you can catch me up on that might be helpful, I'd be most appreciative.

Thanks,

Cathy :p

Cathy: Glad you found us!

Some of us are doing WW, me included. Other's are doing their own thing. Tracy gives us her weekly WW meeting info.

Tracy is also keeping track of how many pounds we lose together by cruise time. She is keeping track by month, but feel free to post all losses.

Thanks Denine for your sharing and understanding! Well, you know what it is like to have surgery too. What a great decision that surgery was for your life! :) I totally agree about loosing pounds the right way. If you do not, you are not healthy and do not stay lean and healthy. I can tell you are working deligently at doing it the right way this time! And, it's paying off - it must feel awesome to see those pounds come off!!! Looking forward to meeting you and all my Sisters in our new lean machines! (And, being healthy inside as well.)

Thanks again!

Barbara

Hi Cathy,

Welcome, and glad you found us! We are here supporting each other getting healthy for the cruise/post cruise, and for most of us, that means loosing weight via exercise, healthy eating, and attitudes! Sounds like you have a program that works for you (WW). So, join us and share as you make the journey!

Best wishes with WW - it works!

Barbara

I am losing my weight by LA Weight Loss. I started in September. The cruise was my inspiration. I am exercising with DVD's.

Welcome, Cathy. Best of luck to you and your journey with the weight loss.

Hi sisters. I've just found your thread and although I haven't read through all the pages, I am amazed at the strength of support running through all the gals.

My story is that I've been overweight since I got married - 17 years ago. Up til then both Allan and I were slim and healthy. Within the space of 18 months I had given up two jobs, stopped smoking, got married, moved house and area, got married and had DD Joy. I always say my system went into shock! I stopped smoking overnight but I couldn't give up food. Allan always says I used up all my willpower with the cigarettes.

A year ago, I was diagnosed with Diabetes and high (very high) cholestorol and high blood pressure. I began the really watch what I ate and the weight dropped off me. And then Christmas kicked in! I have put on 8lbs, which I can ill afford to do, and although my blood sugar is under control, my eating has gone mad again.

So reading your motivation to one another has inspired me to get myself back together and lose weight for ME!

So thanks, girls. I really needed to find you and I'm so glad I did.

Hello Sisters!!!!!!!

Been about a week since I was here--so much easier to catch up on than the fools thread.

CONGRATULATIONS Denine and everyone else on the weight losses.

Again--no scale at my house so I have no idea about pounds (just know my weight from my June '04 pap smear appt--what fun!).

But I am keeping faithful as far as cardio on my treadmill. Now doing 45 minutes 4 times a week and it feels great. I get just over 3 miles in--so not too intense--just very steady. Pacing myself.

I am gauging my success with inches and/or the way my clothing fits. I'll report inches lost on my birthday (Feb. 28th) which will have made it 6 weeks from the start of my fitness program.

Now if only I could stay away from chocolate (LOL!).
