SHHHHH!!! This time it's the Anniversary

They gave you a tequila flavored Robittussin sized cup???

Yes...believe me after a few of those and look out baby...I learned an interesting fact about tequila - apparently there is such a thing as 100% agave tequila. Alen said this won't give you a headache in the morning. He said a lot of the "commercial" brands have chemicals and sugar and thats why you get the headache. Not sure if thats the whole truth but I may be willing to do a market research project to prove the theory...What do you guys think? :thumbsup2

Sure.. we could sacrifice you to the Gods... :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

& here I always thought it was the strawberries that gave me the headaches...

Yes a sacrifice to the Tequila Gods...all in the name of science and of course better drinking...:rotfl2::worship::cool1::worship::rotfl2::cool1:

Oh yes, anyone still tagging along? I had to hunt for my TR, seems it's way down the bottom of the page...:sick: How could that be?

Anyway, as we last left we headed off from the ocean front spot, which for me was one of the most serene places I had ever been...breathtaking!

We headed back towards the port of Cozumel but had one more stop planned. Now I have to tell you, we thought this excursion would be about 2 hours. At this point we were well past that. As we headed down the road, Alen continued to tell us about Cozumel and the Mayan people. It was amazing. We entered a location called El Cidral. It housed the oldest Mayan church on Cozumel. I was excited to see this, not because it was the oldest, but because they had also built a Catholic Church right next to it.

Now, this is difficult to explain. The area that the church is located is within the confines of an area that only Mayan people can live. Needless to say, it was very poor and rundown. But beautiful just the same...It was strange...

The Catholic Chruch

Now, I grew up Catholic, our family's patron saint is Saint Anthony...Imagine how surprised I was when we walked though the church and found this...

I was almost in tears...It was amazing...

The Mayan Man....
After our trip to El Cidral, it was time to head back to the pier...4 hours after it all began. It was truly amazing...

I have St. Anthony on my key chain... Tony and I are on a first name basis... every time I need to find my keys...

Really enjoying hearing about the excursion you did in Cozumel

I think we are doing the same one:

"Discover the historic beauty of captivating Cozumel during a tour of the San Gervasio ruins, tour the hacienda of the tequila and wander El Cedral, the ancient site of the island's first Catholic Mass"

So did you enjoy it?

It sounded like a good way to just hit some highlights with a couple of tequila shots for good measure

What a great segment. Cozumel looks amazing...love the picture of the two of you with the ocean as your backdrop. The entire excursion looks memorable. Seeing the St. Anthony statue must have been wonderful.

Ya gotta stop asking if we're still here... of course we are... 24/7...

wait... it's time for my nap...

This was one of the longest days we had. But one of the most enjoyable ones...We got back to the port with plenty of time to spare to look around and shop of course. But, by this time we were starving. So we headed to a place that Andreja told us about the night before - Carlos and Charlies. <y DW and I were dying for some authentic Mexican food and hoped that this place did the trick. We were not disappointed. It was a loud, fun place that had lots to offer. We walked in, seated immediately. The menu, which is on somewhat of a billboard was in Spanish and pesos. As we tried to decode the menu (my Spanish sucks) our waiter came by and flipped it over to the English side. Thank God! We ordered what was a sampler platter. Tacos, fajitas, fresh guacamole, tostadas, fresh veggies...It was incredible. We practically licked the plate clean. Drinks, well you'll see, they sort of speak for themselves...It was an amazing meal, one of the best we had off of the ship. And CHEAP!!! About $40 US dollars when all was said and done.

Walking back to the pier we stopped at that "pharmacy" we saw earlier. Since we are both medical, professional curiosity dragged us into the building. We were not surprised to find antibiotics, BP meds, male enhancement and even injectable testosterone available over the counter. We weren't impressed with the prices. They were a little on the pricy side. Now I would assume if you didn't have "good" health insurance that the prices would seem reasonable. We really had no need to buy anything, just more curious than anything else. But, its there if you want it. Also, walking back to the ship gave us some incredible views of the ship...

We headed back to the ship for a little rest and a quick dip in the pool...Ahhh the pool...I love it up there...

You needed 2 straws for those drinks!

& some of us had to visit those pharmacies on the PC cruise because after 2 weeks.. we had passed what we called the Cabo Crud around.. :scared1:

Ha ha RE the menu!!! That's totally something I'd have done. Those drinks look heavenly....even at 5:48am. Ha ha!

Just want to leave a note to say I am reading and enjoying your report! Those drinks look fabulous! Can't wait to hear more!!

It was an exhausting day spent learning and loving the port and Island of Cozumel. i would enjoy going back again. More so than Grand Cayman...

Anyway, after our refreshing dip in the pool, it was time to relax and get ready for dinner and Pirate Night...I love Pirate Night. Now, we have seen the show, many times before and really think the older version was much better...

As we returned to our stateroom to freshen up for dinner (we skipped the show, it was Beauty and the Beast in 3D) I stepped out onto the verandah for an early evening beverage. The seas were calm and beautiful. So, off to dinner back at Animator's Palate for round 2. No show this night, just all out pirate fun. We had a great time. Like I said before we were fortunate to have great tablemates. The guys got up and did the Limbo, while our wives stayed and watched - well laughed I'm sure...

After dinner it was up to deck 10 Starboard for a good view of the fireworks. It was quite windy so, we knew that Captain Mickey would not be flying overhead. It is one of the highlights of the show, for those who have never seen it. The fireworks went off without a hitch to the delight of the crowd onhand.

After the fireworks, it was off to the Pirate Buffet and yummy desserts and food, all over the place. I think I still had room for more food. After a very quick trip to Rockin' Bar D we headed back for some well deserved rest. Tomorrow was our second day at sea and Palo Brunch...

Hi Linda - yes that is the same excursion. It was well worth the money we spent. It was long though, had we known just how long we would have packed some snacks. But, I recommend it. Hopefully you'll get Alen as your tour guide. He is fantastic.

Cozumel is beautiful but also poor and rundown in sections. I would go back in a heartbeat. The ocean and beaches are some of the most awe inspiring I have ever seen. Now, seeing the Statue of St. Anthony was very nice, but scary too...It's like he was following me. However, for those who know the story of St. Anthony, he is the finder of lost things. When you loose something you pray to him and he helps find it. At least that's how I was brought up. As we settled back onto the coach, a driver from another coach came onto the bus and asked if anyone had lost a credit card? He said the name on the card (in his best English) and the woman sitting next to us recalled out the name and asked loudly if anyone had lost their card. Here comes the Lightbulb Moment - she finally realized it was hers. :worship::worship: How much tequila did you have sweetheart that you were sitting there announcing your own name? DUH!!!! :confused3

Anyway, she got her card back, luckily. Can you imagine how much damage someone could have done with that...Do you think she offered the poor guy that brought it back even a dollar? NOPE!!!! For crying out loud, give the guy $5 and say thank you to St. Anthony for bringing it back...No worries though Karma always gets the last laugh...

Thanks for the info :)
I'll be sure to take some snacks along with us !

Yes, me too. Since I tend to be pretty absent-minded, St. Anthony and I are good buddies. :rolleyes1

Funny she didn't even make that recognition ....I'm sure it was a matter of a tequila daydream.

Can't wait for more!!! No video of the limbo??? :goodvibes
