She said it wouldn't be boring!-WONDER WB Caribbean cruise - Bonus Posts Wrap up

Oh wow! That's quite the museum! I love the James Bond collection. Lots of awesome cars there!

What a GREAT museum! I had no idea that it existed in Miami.

[Continued from Previous Post]
This may not be Disney, but the Sherman Brothers did write the music. What movie is this?

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The stage musical was playing in Melbourne in 2013. It was great but I prefer the original movie. It's the Dick Van Dyke factor. :thumbsup2

If anyone can clue me in to what this is from, I would appreciate it.

I think that's from Goldeneye. It's the only Bond movie where I can remember a tank chase. But I might be wrong on that one.

Oh my what an update! My eyes litterally popping out of my head! Love the small cars how cute. Love that tiny BMW. One of those reminds me of the car from the Pink Panther cartoon series. I love the Bat Mobile! Plus to see the Ghostbusters and the Mystery Machine. Oh my goodness you lucky ducks. What a day! Thank you for sharing :flower3:

Just adding my two cents to say that the museum looks really like a lot of fun. Not that we get to Miami ever, but if we ever do that would be a great thing to do on a rainy day.

I agree with PIO that the tank must be from GoldenEye, that's the only Bond movie I can remember with a tank chase too.

I hadn't had an iced coffee in over two weeks!

Were you going through withdrawal?:rotfl2:

For Southern Californians like us, we hadn’t seen rain in so long that we were fascinated. I took a LOT more pictures than just these few.

That does look like quite the downpour. But you're just rubbing in that perfect Southern California weather, right? :lmao:

This was a room the size of my living room it was surrounded by glass cases with shelves, and every shelf was jam packed with James Bond paraphernalia. [/QUOTE}

I love all the movie memorabilia! When you mentioned the destination, I wasn't expecting this museum to be so large and extensive, but it really does seem like a huge collection. Nice find!

I thought this chess set was hilarious.

 Are you allowed to show that here??

That museum looks like the perfect way to spend a rainy Sunday. Great find, and I think that you too have a little ways to go to reach this collecting status, but you have plenty of time. :)

We have been caught out by the Florida rain more than once. I hear you on the coffee. The train station near our office is closed down at the moment so I have to take the tram to work. The good thing is that it is pretty much door to door. The bad thing (apart from the fact that it takes forever) is that I don't get my morning coffee.

That museum is quite a find. It is so quirky and I love the Disney touches.

That museum is SO cool, how nostalgic seeing all those famous cars! I was working in Miami a couple of times this year and that rain, hooo boy!

That is one of the most unique car museums that I've seen. Anyone following my TRs knows that we see a LOT of car museums!
I have to say your tshirt had me like :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Yeah, I'm always getting teased by the other ladies in our band. They all pooled together to buy me that shirt. I wish I could find another one, it's getting rather small.

Starbucks? :lovestruc

BTW what do you load your pics to? I use photobucket but all my pics come out small on my pretrippie and I can't resize them.

Love me some Starbucks! I use photobucket as well. You can change the size of your uploads. Go to the little circle icon with the silhouette (in the upper right of the screen). Hover over it and a menu will appear. Click on "Settings". Then choose Albums from the tabs that appear. If you scroll down, you'll see "Upload Options". Click on Customize Upload Options and it will give you various options to change the size of your pictures. It defaults to really small. My first pictures on PB were all really small too and it was frustrating until I figured that out.

You've seen a lot of our pictures from car museums, I have to say that this was the most "Hollywood" of all the collections we have seen. If you're ever in Miami, you should pay a visit there. I'm sure you would enjoy it, but there weren't many Mustangs. :sad2:

What a GREAT museum! I had no idea that it existed in Miami.

I didn't either. Leave it to Fran to find it! There was also a car museum in Ft. Lauderdale and we got tickets to it as part of our conference package. We just didn't have time to see it with her feeling under the weather and all.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The stage musical was playing in Melbourne in 2013. It was great but I prefer the original movie. It's the **** Van Dyke factor. :thumbsup2

+1 for you! OMG! I have to :rotfl2: at your post. Do you remember when the boards used to **** out Dyke, now look!

Another +1 for PIO! I'm not sure I saw that movie. We never made it through our marathon of trying to watch all the Bond DVDs.

The museum look so amazing and seeing all those different vehicles.

It was a really cool museum, I enjoyed it, and it was a HUGE collection!

An Isetta!!!! (It's the tiny BMW) as a kid I loved to go to the big museum of technology in Munich (called Deutsches Museum) and look at the cars there and I just thought this was the perfect car for kids! ;-)

What an interesting place, but I would have been totally tired out by seeing so many cars as well.

I am glad that you did not have use that door that had a waterfall coming down in front of it! Florida rain can be quite something...

Awesome museum! It seems to go on and on and on!

It was really cool, but it did go on and on....we were tired at the end of the day.

I'm glad you enjoyed the vicarious living! Everything was really cool.

It was a very fun rainy day activity! OK, Golden Eye it is. The tank was outside the Bond room, so that makes sense.

Were you going through withdrawal?:rotfl2:

Yes actually!

Never thought of that!

Hopefully we never arrive at that point!

I can't figure out how to edit the post before, but here is a link about the collection and a picture of the tank, saying it is from Goldeneye

I think since you posted this they added the Edit button back in.

Yeah, Florida rain can be quite the phenomenon. No morning coffee! :scared1:

I just found the edit button... Whoop!

I thought that article was kind of cool, b/c it was from the UK, talking about moving all of that to the USA

Hmmm.... I had no idea what that car was! I thought it was really cool that the front of the car opened up like that.

I'm glad that we didn't have to go in that door either! Since then it has rained quite a bit in Southern California, but it was still nothing like this! I'm getting a little more used to the wet stuff.

there is a cute commercial from the late 50s about how practical the car is:

Wow, I just copied in the link to youtube and when I posted it, it automatically embedded the video. Neat feature!

Thanks for the video. I had no idea about these cars, very cute, they are!

I'm still unsure as to whether or not I like the new format of the boards, but the embedded video is one of the plusses of the new site!

Our last 24 hours

It wasn’t all that late, but we had been at the museum a good 4-5 hours and we were hungry too. I had enjoyed that Italian place so much the other day, I convinced Fran to go back there for late lunch early dinner. The place? Giuliano's Italian Restaurant in the Harbor shops. If you’re in the area, I would highly recommend this place. I didn’t have the pizza, but the pasta, chicken and veal were excellent. Here is the menu.

The first time I ordered from here, they asked me if I wanted garlic rolls or plain rolls. I told the guy “that was a silly question”. And he even knew what these things tasted like. O – M – G!!!! These things are so heavenly and garlicky, I couldn’t believe how good they were!

See all that ooie gooie garlicky buttery goodness. I could so go for some of that right now.

One of us ordered the Minestrone soup (after all it was wet and cold outside) and the other ordered the salad. I think I finished the soup myself but we shared the salad.

I shouldn’t have filled up on the rolls and soup. I had no idea my serving of Tortellini would be so large or so filling!

I got broccoli as my vegetable and it was soooo tasty, how often do you hear that? This place knows how to cook some tasty broccoli!

Fran got the Veal Scallopini. She was very happy with this.

Here’s to show you, this place was just a hole in the wall, but never discount a hole in the wall that it can’t have some of the best food you’ve ever had in your life. Fran is just waiting for them to process the check.

We made it back to the hotel in time for Happy Hour and grabbed some free drinks from the bar before heading up to the room. Departure day was imminent.

I promise you, you will get used to it! There are lots of great features like taggin people @frandandaj or that the threads staz unread until you really look at them. Will be so much easier when one does not have the time to stay on top on all threads. I have used this software before and was getting so frustrated with the old DIS software for the last year or so. So, for me this feels like Christmas! At the moment it seems that some things still need adjusting, but the DIS webmasters are working hard on it. And in a few weeks all the little things should be worked out as well.
