Shaun and Ashley's Disney Wedding

Oh and the budget came back couple thousand under what dad thought it would be! :yay: Although he was really annoyed that soft drinks weren't included and they charge $4.00 for one soft drink! Then he was joking around saying that everyone may just have to drink water and tea! LOL

So our guests are really picky eaters! Our chef was great and he totally understood since his hometown is near our hometown and his families style of eating was close to our guests.

So here is whats on the menu!

  • Wild Mushroom Arancini Fritter with Marina Sauce
  • Bacon-crusted beef and blue cheese with balsamic sundried tomato pesto
  • house made crab cakes with mustard chive creme
  • chicken tenders (mainly for children)
  • Carved to order: strip loin of beef served with red wine demi glaze, horseradish cream, mustard, mayo and also served with assortment of bakery breads
  • martini station: guest selection of mac and cheese or red skinned potatoes with variety of toppings: cheddar cheese, bacon, and sour cream

We also tried a few other things that were delicious, but I know my guests wouldn't eat any of the items.

Wedding cake:
I make cakes and I am used of my cake mix, icing, and fillings, but over all the cake wasn't bad.
Also, I really do not care for chocolate but definitely can not stand the taste of dark chocolate, but the DF is a dark chocolate fanatic! (at least he doesn't have to worry about we stealing his chocolate :) {I'm a white chocolate fan}

So the top tier of our cake will be almond cake with strawberry mousse filling.
Bottom layer is almond cake with dark chocolate mousse. (They finally talked me into trying the dark chocolate mousse and to my surprise it tasted more like milk chocolate)

We got the bigger layer chocolate because most of our guests like chocolate.

But I will make sure that when we cut the cake he feeds me the strawberry! :):)

We are also having Minnie and Mickey at the reception in their formal attire! (This was supposed to be a surprise for our guests, but of course Mom spoiled the surprise)

We are also doing the Magic Kingdom Photo Shoot!! :yay:

I think that is it for now!

Still loving the plans!! And you surely lucked up with your jewelry!!!
Reading about your cake just made me really want some.......

Thanks Kristi! Mom paid a good bit for the jewelry when I bought it for prom, so she was happy I am getting to use it two times. lol

So here is the DF's wedding ring. I wasn't too fond of it, but he has to wear it forever. As long as he likes it I'm cool with it. He said he wanted diamonds on his ring since I had diamonds on mines.
My engagement ring and wedding band were custom made. So the wedding band fits perfectly with the engagement ring. It is off getting resized right now...post a pic when I get it back.

AND seriously picking out his ring was the most time consuming of all. He's so picky! It only took 5 minutes for me to pick my dress out! LOL

Kristi - think my DF's ring is very similar to your DF's ring! :)

That jewelry is beautiful! So glad you get to wear it again! :)

I love that groom ring!! What material is the band? Tungsten?

Love the ideas! A crafty bride after my own heart! Everything looks really good and your dress is really lovely, can't wait to hear more and congratz on your engagement :)

I love his ring!! It is very similar.

Mine has to be custom made as well. I don't think there's a band in the world that would just fit it. Of course, it wouldn't be that easy :rotfl:

AHH! Okay...so I am reviewing songs for the wedding and I start crying! lol
My dad and I are really close, so I know when he walks in to get me to walk down the aisle I will lose it! Just wondering if you have any tips on how to control the tears? I'm freaking out now that I will just cry the entire time.

Just needed to let this out...

Let it out! haha! It's such a good place to share ideas, vent, anything really!

I wish I could give you advice. Complete opposite though. I really never cry, and I'm going to come off as an emotionless crazy person on my wedding...haha!

Haha I will totally be the same way- I just will have to focus! A little tears will be ok- but I will have to stop myself from bawling :)

I will save the bawling for our father/daughter dance... lol :rotfl:

So the DF tells me I need to quit changing things but I won't. lol

So I have changed my bouquet 3 times already since the planning session and the fourth change is in the making.

I am both excited and nervous at the same time.

I want a mickey head in my bouquet.
White standard size gerber daisy for for head and 2 mini white gerber daisies for the ears surrounded by light pink roses.

The nervous parts comes in because the florist has never done this before!
She said it's a great and idea and I think she will enjoy putting it together.

So I swear this is the last time I am changing it! The DF said I will change my mind in a few weeks. LOL. I'll prove him wrong.

Anyone have any pictures to share of the mickey head bouquet, and what do y'all think?

I think it's a great idea!

And trust me, it wont be the first or the last of you changing your mind. I've done it more times than I can count. I refuse to write about it in my pj, because I'm afraid people will start to think I'm nuts :lmao:

I think a wedding makes everyone crazy especially the bride. I'm getting married June 4 and I wanted to change my reception venue a couple weeks ago! LOL. The DF talked me out of it! Thank goodness! It's just that when everything is written on paper it seems like everything will be rushed and we wont have time to just dance and talk with guests, but I'm sure we will.

I'm right there with ya about changing things! =] I'm so all over the place it's scarey. My mother & DF want to shoot me. haha.

I've even debated wanting to change my venue.. but shh that's between me & you girls. lol. DF would shoot me. So would my father if they heard me talking about it. I feel like I just settled to kinda get it over with? =X Woops! haha.

So my mother calls me today and is like do you think you need to really take pictures at MK. You aren't getting married in the park!

Did my mother really just ask me that? WOW

So of course I am like all up set and I like yes mother I do. It doesn't matter if I getting married in the park. I'm getting married once and this is something I have always wanted to do. It's not like I can go in the park with my wedding dress and take pics any day.

Then my dad calls me and is like don't worry everything is staying the way it is!:yay:

So ready for June!

My mom is controlling and she is kind of mad that we aren't having the wedding at home because she wanted to invite every body and their mom and cousin...and you know how that goes. So maybe this is why she has to give me hell about stuff. :headache:

Honestly, 29 people watching me get married is pushing it, so she should be happy that there are that many people coming.

Sorry to hear about that, so glad that your dad seems to have patched things up! I know how frustrating that can be. My parents are pretty cool with everything, but they did have some people they wanted to invite. Of course we let them because they are paying for about half of the wedding, but it is still a little annoying that there are people invited to my wedding that I've never even met...

And I am sure that your MK photos will be awesome! If I was getting married in WDW I think I would splurge for that, because it really is such a unique opportunity!

That night the DF and I are having our last meal before we are married! :lovestruc:

It will be at the Coral Reef around 5pm.

Ugh, I feel your pain, and agree, this is your EVENT to do with as you please, if that means pictures at MK, then that means pictures!!!

But perhaps a compromise?...'sure mom, we won't do the MK photo shoot...as long as you provide the castle etc here so we have pictures filled with magic!!'

Stick to your guns, you won't regret having memories of you in your gown feeling like a princess in the most magical place on earth ;)
