Secondly - Kevin and his teacher made it to the Washington Post. This is the computer I've been telling you all about - it's loaded with Boardmaker, and he uses an elbow switch. Sue M - it's incredibly tough!!! The real neat part is watching the autistic kids with it. It's so heartwarming!!

Oooh, I want to see them... the first link took me to the main sign-in page, though.. and the second had no pictures, just text and ads. ???

I couldn't get any pictures to come up either, but the story is really cool.
We're looking for a new device for Katrina to update her Dynavox, but we decided a differnt device called the Gemini would be a better choice for her. First, it is a Macintosh, which is important for us since that's what we have and what her school district mostly uses. Also, she really needs a bigger screen.
but I think it's really neat what Kevin's teacher has started with the Xybernaut.:)
Anything that gives kids a voice is a wonderful advancement.

Teri - fixed!

Sue - very glad you found something other than Dynavox!!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms, Grandmas, Great-Grandmas and Aunts on the disABILITIES board!!!!

I love your pictures!!! What room did you have at OKW? Was it handi-accessible?

We had 1313 - which is my favorite baseball player's number - twice.. .. funny, i had to ask my DH because I had forgotten it!

This was a regular room. As of right now, we like those rooms better than the handi rooms - as we don't need the roll-in shower (yet) and of course, OKW rooms themselves are so large the wheelchair is never an issue. Of course, we do need the first floor. That is a sad limitation, as we get a lot of noise usually from above.

As you can see, there are 6 of us, so we always get a 2 br... oh the points..... We always used to ask for 3415 and 14 or 16, can't remember. This is on Old Turtle Pond next to the tennis courts- that is handi-accessible and is very nice. Then we decided to go with the luck of the draw and we were very pleased this time.

Being that close to the Hosp House was a huge benefit in all ways. We will continue to ask for that area - there was no bus noise as there is otherwise - and no traffic noise. Taking Kevin to WDW is like the hi-lite of our year - there is no where we are happier and he just loves it so much!!!

thanks for taking the time to look at our pics, it was an excellent trip.

Sue

Thanks for that room info, I just put it into my OKW room request favorites!

I almost forgot to say, we were in villa 3411 during our December trip, we just loved that view!

We've been on the second floor (and even the third floor) of the buildings with elevators, buildings 62, 63 and 64. I don't know if there are any fully wheelchair accessible rooms on 2nd or 3rd floor. We also get a regular room. My DD is fairly short and the one time we got a wheelchair room, that raised toilet just didn't work out for us. We will have to spring for the roll in shower some time before too long though.
