SHADES OF GREEN at Walt Disney World Resort Thread

Hi,

I asked this question on another thread but just found this thread so I will post on here as well. I'm hoping that someone can help me.

I have a friend that will be visiting SOG in April. She has a family of 3 but will be visiting with extended family. What is their best option for transportation from MCO? I know that the options may be different based on the arrival times of the extended family. (I believe there will be some family members arriving from different cities.)

TIA for any help!

I keep forgetting to ask... Does SoG have free in room/resort wifi? I sure hope so...

It does, but I find it can sometimes be a bit slow depending on where you are on the property. If I really have a lot to do, I go to the lobby where the service is more reliable.

"Best" is subjective. I think the best transportation option is a private town car or SUV that I arrange ahead of time. "Best" for some might be cheapest, which would be some sort of shared shuttle.

When can you make fast pass reservations when staying at SOG? Is it at the 60 day or 30 day mark?

Thanks!

I also believe that "best" is subjective. We just returned today from an amazing 9 days at SoG, we hired a towncar service... It worked out really well for us... They pick you up at baggage claim and help you with your bags. When your trip is over, they drop you right at curbside check in. Slick.

If you'd prefer to rent a car, some do, it's $10/day to park it at SoG... But some like that convenience. I always factor that cost into the budget + the rental car coat in the first place. Many times, the cost of the rental vs. The towncar service is almost the same.

We found using SoG buses was a breeze, and much preferred using them over Disney transportation whenever possible. :)

Hehehee... Well, since i just did this update in my TR - I'll share here too... I requested 2nd floor, pool view... The first room they had given me wasn't quite what I'd had in mind, so I asked if they had anything else available, the person checking me in gave me a few options, and we chose this one. Room #206 with a Magnolia Pool view.

Day view...

And we were able to see Wishes from our balcony... but I want to wait to post that picture until I post it in my TR...

Has the parking price recently increased? We used the garage in April 2015, and it was $5.00 per day to park.

It's possible that I misunderstood? I could have swore that he said $10/day when I checked in, but I could be wrong.

No worries.
I just checked the SOG website and it looks as though it is still $5.00 to park, and I hope it stays that way. We are heading down in July, and staying for 11 nights. If the parking fee had increased to $10.00 per day I was bracing myself for the $110.00 parking bill.:scared1:

It's a temporary move. They're remodeling Evergreen's.

OK... So does anyone know what this "remodel" intales? Could this possibly mean they are returning Evergreens to it's former glory? With a full kitchen and menu? No one would be more thrilled than I. :)

Also... A question... Did the booking categories recently change? I could have sworn when we stayed there last week, I booked our stay as a category 2 (same with our 2008 trip)... But I swear I looked and reread it a million times... E6 is now category 1... Or are my eyes playing tricks on me? Fwiw... Dh is a 20+ year retired war veteran E6 and I would be staying without him.

You read it right, E6 is now category 1. I believe the new rate became effective June of 2015.

I haven't seen anything. There's only the fact it's being remodeled on the website and I didn't really search the Facebook page but there might be something there since visitors can post.

We'll be going back in Nov 2017, but I can't help beyond that. I'm sure someone will eventually post on here.

We loved the original Evergreen's. We first took our boys when they were 12 and 14 in 1998 and we ate at Evergreen's after we got in from our flight and had snacks there a few times. DH and I have since been back and enjoyed a drink and snack out there a few evenings on every trip. I didn't like the remodel as much. Our first few times there they had waitresses and decent food. After the change, it wasn't quite as good. Everyone has been asking for a return to the original.
