~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
I know, I wasn't happy about it. I'm not as peeved about the time I spent shopping as I am about the $$ I spent - none if it can be returned because I'd worn it. Oh well.
So bummed for you about the rain... I hope you were able to get out there and go walking. :confused3 I worked out to my Walk Away the Pounds DVD this morning, and then I went for an hour walk after work - my feet are killing me, but it felt so good.
D~
Glad you did my walk for me. Hope you did my sewing as well. I was actually doing a little sewing when school called for me to come pick up ds who wasn't feeling well -- felt nauseous. Seemed perfectly fine to me and the first thing he did when he got home was run around chasing the dogs :headache: What a waste of my afternoon. DS had be better be on death's bed the next time they want me to come get him! So little sewing, no walk and the commissary was out of slimfast as well -- I'm switching to one a day with a normal linch and dinner so I had to substitute Carnation.
:headache: How awful that they cancelled without letting you know. I hope DH still writes that letter.
Love Rosetta.:cloud9: It came out so beautiful.
And I feel the same way about my hours. Since my MIL is not babysitting I only worked today and will do the rest from home for this week since no one else is available. Luckily I have some vacation hours that I can use and then next week my hours are going to be all screwed up again.:sad2:
Love Rosetta!!
You guessed it right! This is the pattern I plan to use - I am just not sure which size yet... I am thinking the large one for me (as long as it's deep enough to hold my water bottle upright - I haven't measured yet) and the small ones for the girls - since they won't be carrying much, except for sweatshirts if they decide to take them off. And, of course, I am probably going to modify it a bit... I'd like a zipper pocket on it somewhere, and a strap to attach my wallet to... and other little obscure things. :thumbsup2
Can't wait to see your messenger bags! I'm afraid of zippers. I need to make something simple like a pencil case so I can get over my fear.
So sorry for your canceled event...how frustrating...sounds like you made the best of it.
Yes, I did your walk for you Andrea... Do you feel your rear shrinking as I type? :thumbsup2
Sorry about your ds... my little dd used to do that all the time. When Josh was in Iraq and we still lived back home - the school secretary/nurse used to spoil her rotten... she never quite got over all that attention and spends some time in the nurse's office every week. My hard and fast rule - no temp - no staying home. :confused3
Sorry about the slimfast... I've never drank that stuff in my life... but I hope they restock for you soon. :wizard:
Thank you. And, yes, dh did write that letter... he sent it on Sunday morning and hasn't received a reply yet. :confused3 At this point, he probably won't. :surfweb:
I hope you are able to get your hours figured out.
Love Rosetta!!
So sorry for your canceled event...how frustrating...sounds like you made the best of it.
Thank you. :thumbsup2 I purchased the "zippered pouches" pattern by Studio Cherie from YCMT, and it's taught me everything I need to know about zippers. Honestly. A few of her directions are a bit vague, which was really hard when I had never put in a zipper in my life - but I am confident if I can figure it out, anyone can. After doing a couple of her pouches - I had the concept down, and I was able to do that tutorial about adding a zipper to the Rosetta bag. I really am anxious to get to work on the messenger bags for the girls for Christmas - but I need to finish all these outfits first. :rolleyes1 I just wish I could sew them faster...
D~
Does anyone ever have to carry their refillable mugs into the parks? If so, what do you do with them?
D~
When we went last month I did carry my refillable mug with me. I bought several of those spring clips, I think they have formal name... but they're what people use when they go rock climbing. I would hook it to my purse and clip the cup on it. I also put a bigger sized one on our stroller to hook things on it as well. It worked really great.
Love Rosetta!!
I've done a couple of cosmetic bags with zippers, it's not as hard as it seems... Don't be afraid. If I can do a zipper anyone can. :)
I'm joining the pity party. So sorry to hear about the cancellation of the party without notice and the non-fitting clothes. I would just rather buy things and take them back then face those unforgiving fitting room mirrors. For some reason at home in the mirror I'm still the same size I was before I gave birth to two kids. :)
I am SO! far behind here, Disboutiquers, and MAW Trip Reports. After we got home from Disney and for my Birthday I came down with shingles. Who gets shingles at 32? They have really done me in. The nerve pain is ridiculous. I thought all my back pain was from my fall at the lake but turns out it is from the shingles. I was super careful about being around my kids!! because my husband felt pretty strongly about not getting my 2 y/o vaccinated for chicken pox (which I supported because I would want him to support me on something like that if I felt that strongly) and now I think he has the pox! ughhh, so off to the doctor we go this afternoon. I just need ONE! non-stressful week.
I also wanted to show a different angle, because my usual front photo doesn't show some of the fun design details in the skirt... The skirt curves down the back, so when you are looking from the front, you can see the lining of the skirt. Them hem also shows a bit of the lining. Honestly, I really love the colors and the end result of this outfit - it is probably my favorite of all the Fairies in this series.
Only one more Fairy to go... Who's it going to be??? :surfweb:
D~
D~ sorry I didn't see your question.
I bought a few cool things while out. A sketch book to make an autograph book out of. and some fat quarters for appliques and a 3 yard bolt of some really cute black fabric to make a hem to the jelly roll DD picked out.
Now I need to find some time to sew.
Thanks for the tip... I was wondering if something like that would work. I think they're called carabiner clips - that's what we call them anyways. :thumbsup2
I totally agree.
OK - so this is totally me... I dont' know what it is about them mirror at home, but yes - I am still that hot momma I was years ago. :rotfl2:
Oh - no. I am so sorry about the shingles. I have heard of this happening to people who are in their 30's... The person I am thinking of specifically is also a seamstress, and she couldn't touch fabric for a few years because of the way it burned her skin. It took many many trips to the Dr. Please see your Dr. about this, I would hate for it to be that bad for you. :hug: Please keep us updated.
I hope your ds doesn't have chicken pox... I got it when I was 13 - it wasn't any fun at all. I am just saying prayers for you and your family all around. :grouphug:
SOunds like you got some awesome items Chiara! :thumbsup2 I hope you'll show us the autograph book and I can't wait to see your dd's jellyroll skirt. :lovestruc I always love the skirts you make.
D~ <---- must make a quick run to the local fabric store, I forgot one item for my last Fairy. :lovestruc
I LOVE Silvermist.
Okay I hope the last one is my DD's favorite fairy in the entire worl Fawn.
Thanks D~ I am debating a trip report for December.
I will definately show you the autograph book and Skirt once I finally get to it. :)
I have a couple of the Walk Away the Pounds DVDs! I need to get back in the habit of actually DOING them!:rotfl2: might help, right?
I had the worst flights home from RI yesterday... Our first flight was late getting to RI so we were late boarding... Only to get on board and SIT at the gate for two hours because there was a "worn" spot on the wing that they weren't sure was "safe for flight" and we had to wait until maintenance checked it out, sent pictures to the engineers, to Boeing, etc. The wait stunk, but the two guys across the aisle from us were FREAKING out... :rolleyes1
We were finally cleared for takeoff... When we should have been LANDING in Atlanta... Which meant our 3 hr layover got cut to 20 minutes... On top of thatnthe flight was really rough... Thought I was going to throw up:confused: bynthe time we got on the next flight I felt like I was going to pass out...
Long story short, trip home yesterday NOT FUN! Thank goodness the boys behaved!:lovestruc
Silver mist looks great! :love: can't wait to see the last one!
Oh Chiara - I would definately do a TR for your Dec trip! :thumbsup2 I would totally follow it. Are you going to do a PTR too??? :wizard:
I always feel like such a dork that I do these videos... but they are very low impact for my bad knees - and I still get a decent work out. Plus, I love that they use weights, so I can tone my upper body at the same time. A few years ago, Target clearanced out all of Leslie Sansone's WATP videos (for new covers), so I got her entire library of every video she made, plus the bands for $14. I think there was a total of 12 workouts. But honestly - the first two I ever purchased are my favorites, and I rarely do anything else. :confused3
I am so sorry about your flight Marianne. That is horrible, I probably would have been freaking out like those guys were. :rolleyes1 At least you had a short layover, I hope you didn't have to switch planes though - or that would have been cuttingit way too close. Glad to have you home safe and sound. How was the wedding?
Silver mist looks great! :love: can't wait to see the last one!
Thank you. :thumbsup2
I had to go to town yesterday afternoon to pick Alli up from play practice. I went a little early and did an extra walk. So that felt good. Today is weigh in day for me - I hope I have a nice loss. :wizard:
I plan to finish up my last fairy this morning, then my neighbor and I are going for a walk. The weather has been gorgeous here these last few days, and it's supposed to be really nice all week, then turn cold this weekend. Not looking forward to the cold, since I've really been enjoying my walks these last few weeks.
D~
I know the WATP videos work - prior to now, I gained a bunch of weight when I moved back to RI for a few months in 2003... I think I thought I was hibernating :rotfl2: anyway, the WATP videos are how I lost it all and got back in shape... Again, I need to start actually DOING said videos instead of just talking about them!
Not only did we have to change planes on our super short layover, if anyone is familiar with the ATL airport, we had to change TERMINALS via the tram too :eek: yeah, with two kids, one of which that is very short, and our carry-on bags (3 backpacks and a purse)... Who all happen to be escalator-challenged ... Well, it wasn't fun.
The wedding was beautiful.... And perfect for the bride & groom ... But I am REALLY tired of going to weddings without my DH... I don't want to skip the wedding, but I hate feeling like either the single mom or the single "lone female" :rolleyes1 it SUCKS! And it's not like I can flirt with the single guys, because I am married :sad2: DHs job really sucks sometimes....
I was wondering about that short layover here in Atlanta....that airport only works for short layovers if you don't have to change planes...and then it wouldn't be a lay over would it?
I hate flying alone.....of course, I hate flying at all! When DH was transferred to Germany we planned on all of us going at once. That way I could get plastered (and I don't drink!) and he would watch the kids...instead the Army saw fit to mess up my passport and paperwork so that we had to wait a month to follow hubby over...then I ended up flying back on a med evac plane with middle son and he came back a month later with the rest... so we never have flown together anywhere!
Absolutely lovely!
Turns out ds actually had diarrhea so school policy is he had to stay home yesterday too. And today I have to go meet dh to get my new military ID which expired yesterday. And I need to forms of unexpired ID. Hope my library or dental insurance card qualify otherwise I'm out of luck. Is it my fault they had no appts available yesterday? My sewing once again is suffering. I'm sure I'll be spending Friday morning finishing outfits for Friday night. And I wanted to applique something for dh too and make myself a scarf -- don't see either of those happening now.
Agreed -- I talk about walking again and doing my dvds and have yet to do either. I also now have trochanter bursitis so really need to shape up!
Sorry about your flights home -- know the Atlanta airport well.
Also well know what it's like going to events without a dh present. Mine is gone for months at a time and when he is here he doesn't even go to parties with me b/c he is so introverted. And us married gals can't go with just anyone -- that would look bad.
Thank God I wasn't on that flight. I too would have been freaking out:scared1: I do not like flying:confused:
:hug: I hate going somewhere without DH too but I give you credit for flying without him. Not sure if I could do that.
Did I mention I hate flying:rotfl:
I swear by the WATP DVDs when I actually follow thru. I am on Day 3 of WATP 1 mile Express and Love that one 15 minutes and done. I also have a couple of her walks on ExerciseTV On Demand Channel to mix it up.
I am definately thinking a PTR D~ if I can think of a good name.
Wow, you have such a talent! I love these.
Question...do you do any AG designs for the historical dolls or do you just do Disney Designs?
My niece has Kirsten and Kit and doesn't want any modern clothes for them. How much do you charge for your pieces regardless? They are amazing.
I have Samantha, my mom got for me last year for my 38th bday, lol. She remembered how much I wanted her when she first came out years ago and since she was being retired decided to finally get her for me. Too funny. Anyway, I might be interested in something for her.
You can pm if you prefer.
ACK!!! Get in that sewing room! :wizard:
I hope you're able to get your military ID reissued. I need to get mine done too... I just used it today as my "ID" at Kohls... People around here don't pay attention - mine has been expired for 2 years. :rolleyes1
Agreed -- I talk about walking again and doing my dvds and have yet to do either. I also now have trochanter bursitis so really need to shape up!
I'll clink my glass to that.
This will be my first flight with out DH... But since I've flown to Europe now, I feel like I am a "seasoned traveler" and I can handle it. :rolleyes1
Yay - another WATP advocate... I did the 2 mile this morning. I like to alternate between the 1 mile and 2 mile. I figured that since I am not working much this week - I better to the 2 mile on all my days off. :rolleyes1 So far, I have been doing that. :woohoo:
OK Chiara - lets come up with a name.... I am really bad at names. See above. LOL Is this your Christmas trip you're planning on doing a TR for??? I need to come up with a name for my TR when I get that far too.
Welcome!!! :lovestruc Thank you so much!
Well, no sewing yet today... I had to go pick oldest dd up from school. She was receiving some pretty awful texts last night from "friends" at school - yelling some really awful profanities at her. So, of course, I sent an email to the school Principal and Counselor, and told dd to go to the office immediately (on the bus, she found out that these girls managed to tell the whole volleyball team, so they want to beat her up). Well, she gets to the office and neither of these people are in today. Grrr... so she asked me to come to school and help her find someone to talk to.
Of course, the mama bear in me came out, and I was not a happy individual. By the time I got there, her Counselor was in, so he offered to mediate while I ran errands, then dd could come home with me. So, the counselor went to find those girls, and they are on a field trip today. So, I took dd home with me, and he is going to mediate tomorrow.
I am very happy that the girls' school has a pretty staright foraward stance on bullying, because they don't tolerate it at all. I just get so frustrated, because both of my girls are very strong individuals, who are much more mature than their age, and so see these other kids try to rip at them for handling things in a respectful manner - makes me so mad. I always tell the girls that I hate middle school, and I will be so happy when they go on to HS, because everything is much less petty.
OK, rant over. Back to your regularily scheduled programming.
D~ <---- Forgot to tell you all that I lost 2 lbs this week, for a grand total of -7.4 :)
D~ I hate bullies. So glad your daughters school takes it so seriously. Bullying scares me.
I am going to come up with a neame tonite and work on doing a pre-trip started for my December trip.
