Good morning, Jamborinis & Kidanites! :sunny:

Let me check and see if I can post this: Nope darn it, it will not let me. I will keep trying. Anyone else have a activities schedule?

Hi Angel16! If you can get it in an image via scanner or photo and email it to me, I will upload it to this thread so that everyone can see it. Thanks! It's jnestor @ hotmail . com (remove the spaces)

She is very afraid of falling because prior to the replacements, she fell quite a few times. It wasn't so much getting hurt, but the embarassment. She is afraid that people will think she falls because she is fat and not because her joints give out on her.

Alison this just broke my heart. I've been overweight most of my life, and it is all too easy, for me anyway, to think that people look at me differently because of it. I understand how Fran feels.

I agree with Corinna, it's probably best to wait until she's feeling as good as possible to be able to get the most out of the experience.

Hi!
This is my first time on this thread and we're planning our first trip to akl. We're going June 10-16th. Can I be added to the list, even though I don't really know what the list is for? :)

I have some questions I can't really find the answers to so I figured you guys would be the perfect people to help!

We have a standard room and have requested the giraffe trail and wondered if anyone else has stayed in that and what was the view like and how was the proximity to the mara, pool and bus stops?

What is the culinary tour...I've heard it mentioned a lot, but what is it?

Is AKL really as dark as everyone says and how is the bus service? Those are really the only two negatives I've heard about it and I just wanted to hear about them from the people that love akl!

Also, we have a adr at boma for breakfast...does everyone like the breakfast buffet there?

Sorry it's a lot of questions but I really appreciate the helpfulness of all of you!!!:flower3:

I'm really excited to stay here, I think it looks like the most beautiful place!

Congratulations on your trip! I haven't stayed on the Giraffe Trail, but I just looked at the map and it is right between the bus stops and pool so I wouldn't think there would be a long walk to anything. The Mara is right next to the pool also.

From what I've heard about the Culinary Tour it is a free sampling and tour of Boma and Jiko. I think it is only offered on certain days. I've read more about it but can't remember at the moment.

Those were the only negatives I read about also so was ready to be disappointed but they were no problem for us. Still actually confused at so many complaints of how 'dark' it is. Buses run on a regular schedule like all the resorts. Never encountered a long wait or long ride.

Have only been to Boma for dinner but it was so scrumptuous. I have only heard good things about breakfast. Make sure you try the Jungle Juice. It is one of the most delicious things I've tasted in my life. High praise yes, but worth it in my opinion.

It really is a magnificent resort, I hope you fall in love with it like many of us have :)

:wave2: Good morning, 6 days until AKL, our first visit. I've made ADR at Boma for dinner, Flying Fish, and debating Sanaa and Jiko. I think we might try to sneak in "date night" at Jiko towards the end of the trip if grandma and grandpa will watch the little girls.

Jiko has quickly become one of our favorites. Price wise Sanaa will cost less if that's in the equation. Unless you just do appetizers and desserts at Jiko. We'll be trying Sanaa for the first time in a few weeks but I've only heard good things.

Hooray for 6 days!!!

Sanaa is now one of my favorites!! DD says it's a must do every trip now! :thumbsup2

Excellent, what did you get that was good? Any pictures?

We had the bread platter and the slow cooked entree. You got to pick two and we choose one chicken and one beef. If you try the wine pairing for this my cousin is the winemaker... Truchard Winery. Sorry no pictures. Both times we have been the food has been wonderful and the service great.

I have to say that David and I loved Saana and that it is now one of our favorites...

Good Morning Everyone! I have been batching it here at home. DH is out fishing since yesterday morning with his DB. So just me and the puppies have been hanging out. I did have dinner out last night with a friend at an amazing place that does Kenya Fusion cooking. :yay::thumbsup2:faint:

I had Nairobi Pork Chops served on the best rice, with a fried plantain, topped off with fresh grilled asparagus, carrots and beans. I enjoyed a nice Napa Valley Cab with it. The whole experience reminded me of Saana or Jiko, so so good! And no I did not take any photos. (Not weird at WDW or DL, a lot weird here) :rotfl:

Wendy is fine. Still doing pt and just returned from meeting the new grandson, Jeffrey. 8lbs and 21 inches.

That's great to hear! Thanks for posting, Brandi! Hope Wendy will check in here soon and let us know all about her visit! :goodvibes

Kimmar! Please check in soon - we're all wondering how your son is doing.

I just rented DVC points for our first stay at AKV. We could only book a standard studio as there was not any availability for a savannah studio. What type of view should we expect? And should I put in a request for a certain area?
