Evidently the infection is down to her tendon. I know this set in because she got her infusion of arthritis drugs last month. Basically that drug is like a nuclear bomb to your immune system. Every little bit of fighting power she had was wiped out with the Actemera, and the MRSA was waiting to swoop in.

They took a culture of her tendon to find out if something besides the germs are at work in there. For the next week me, Alison, is in charge of her wound care. I never could have dine this three months ago! :faint:

I bet you are excellent at wound care now :)

How is Fran handling all this?

.

It is amazing what we can do when necessary, isn't it? I hope you two get through this quickly and with relatively little more hoopla!!!!

Good afternoon, Js & Ks! :sunny:

make it a great day!!!

She is handling it fine, I'm dreading my first attempt at it, but we sort of had no choice.

Oh, I thought you had done it a bit before, I'm sorry I must have misunderstood. Will they be teaching you the basics first? I hope so.

...okay - sooooo, I finally went to the doctor's office today; funny thing - turns out I have an upper respiratory infection with the beginning of a left ear infection....go figure....:confused3

I'm glad you finally went. Did they give you antibiotics?

...plus, my filling broke, so I have to go to the dentist tomorrow....

They gave me training yesterday and with prior training from Home Health, I think I was clean. They told us in the beginning wound care is never sterile, so they aim for clean.

I'm pretty amazed!

Kim - Take care of yourself!!!!

Alison - I hope things went well for you and Fran yesterday.

Thanks for asking, we're hanging in there. She has to get an infusion of antibiotics every day at the hospital, so it makes days like today when she has to see the wound Doctor as well, very long at the hospital. We'll see after her Doctor visit today how things are doing, she had a small set back last week. Another hole opened up, and that was what the last surgery was for, was to get everything out of there, so they are perplexed as to what happened.

Thanks Kim, see above.

Prayers help, right now that's all we can do. Thanks! BTW, I got mail from you today. Well technically it was David. :rotfl:

Sorry to hear that the infection is still there. Prayers for both of you!
