I'm not trying to antagonize here; I am 100% interested and curious about the answers to these questions. 1 - Is Splash Mountain really a big thrill ride? I just don't see it that way and am curious to know if I am in the minority here. I like Splash mountain but find just about any coaster I've ever been on to be more thrilling than SM. I'm not looking to be insulted because I think this way. The ride is a thrill compared to most things in the MK, but overall, it doesn't get my blood pumping. 2 - Are you a Disney hater, former Disney lover who is upset with the direction it is headed, an objective observer who just likes comment....what is your basis? I only ask because many of your posts seem to have a negative undertone. Again, I am just trying to gain an understanding of the posts I am reading and what is behind them. Based on some posts I have seen, it appears that you simply are anti-Disney (which is fine); I'm just want to make sure I don't have you all wrong and do not discount your opinion as one that hold bias against anything Disney Does. 3 - Isn't Magic Kingdom intended to be a kid's park? Especially Fantasy Land? I'm just a bit confused as to why people would critique the addition of a family roller coaster to a park geared towards family and kids.
Splash is a thrill ride for sure. I've seen plenty of people agree it's the wildest coaster style drop at WDW that doesn't require a bathing suit. To kids, and scaredy cats, it's a huge drop. Add in the laughing place drop, and other small drops, and how can it not be a thrill ride? It's not a huge thrill ride for sure, but nothing at WDW is.
I've been visiting WDW regularly for damn near 40 years. I love it. I'm hitting DL Parsi soon, hopefully, and have been to Tokyo DL. I am incredibly unhappy with what WDW has been doing for the last 2 years with FP, and their complete lack of new E tickets is getting ridiculous. Splash, that big thrill ride, is almost 20 years old, and the last BIG ride built at MK, and in that time, attendance has probably almost doubled. Disney has been squeezing the coal for a long time. I guess, for the diamonds in the Dwarf mine.
The Magic Kingdom is a park for all ages. If you have kids, it's about them, if you have teens, it's not about little kids. If you are a young couple, it's not about kids. If you are empty nesters, it's not about kids. Especially at almost $100 a day. However, I do think they have thrown in the towel, let Uni take the reigns on a lot of slices of the population, and they ARE focusing on just kids. As someone without a young child now, that means I see a park that isn't catering to me at all, and is rationing my enjoyment to make kids and late sleepers happy instead of me. What's not to love?
