If you are why?

I sincerely live in Idiotville U.S.A. My entire town is run and inhabited by idiots, people killing each other, shooting through houses, arsonists, gangmembers, idiots! I hate it here!!

We are moving in a little over a year when my mother (who DH and I would never leave her alone or we would have been gone!) retires and I'm just curious as to how many people are actually happy with where they live. If you are what state do you live in??

We are seriously considering Orlando (of course) but we have also looking into Virginia or New York State. We have even considered Oregon.

Funny thing is, while I like living next door to all of the theme parks, I've never liked Florida. The first chance I get to move to Las Vegas, I'm going! :)

At any rate, Orlando is safe and friendly enough. It's MUCH BETTER than Daytona Beach in my opinion.

San Jose is the safest big city in America. That part I like. :) Problem is, it's just so dang expensive to live here.

Mostly we like the area....it's the house we arein't so fond of any more:D

IMO...Michigan is sooo boring. Even when it's summer, there's not much to do around here. I am moving to Orlando this July.

It's ok... I live in a suburb of Baltimore, MD. Since we are near a major city and close to DC, it's very expensive to live here. You don't get much (house wise) for your money.

I do like the fact that I'm just a few hours from the beach in one direction and the mountains in the other direction.

However, the older I get the more I long to live in a warmer climate year round. I think SC might be nice.

I live in Colorado; we've been here for 19 years. We're very happy here.

What I like - fresh air, the mountains, excellent recreational and entertainment opportunities, low humidity, good schools and high value on education, low crime rates, decent job market, and a wide variety of people living here that originate from all over the world that makes meeting people interesting.

What I don't like - SNOW and WIND. Someday I will live somewhere where I never have to shovel ever again!!!

Good luck in your search!

Our town is small and for the most part safe but I get tired of Michigan weather.

what i've discovered is that there are pros and cons everywhere.

i was bored where i grew up and couldn't wait to get to a bigger city. now that i've been in one for several years, i'm sick of how expensive everything is, the traffic, and the fact that we cannot afford a house. on the flip side, there are A LOT more jobs in this area than where i grew up, and there is more to do here (more movie theatres, more shopping, more cultural experiences, etc.).

*Fantasia* proves my point. I love Michigan and would jump at a chance to move there. :p

I do really like the area where I live. Marietta is a suburb of Atlanta. I like having a big city close by (it makes for great shopping, dining, entertainment, etc. opportunities), but it's nice to live outside the city itself. The county I live in has excellent schools, so there are lots of families. Also, Marietta has a relatively low crime rate and is a friendly Southern town. Plus, I like living in the South. I don't think I could stand how cold it gets up North in the winter.

I love this area, all in all, and wouldn't trade it for the world. I SAY I want to move, but if push came to shove, unless it was to Manhattan, I know I am not going anywhere.

Alot of people love it here, Seattle. I do not. I am sick of the constant gray (its the gray that gets you here...not the rain so much) Its a great place for the outdoorsy type though, of which I am not.

I would love to live someplace sunny. However, stupid me, married someone who is not liking the sunny place idea so much.
:(

My mom has retired now, however, and watches our kids alot for us so it would break her heart if we moved away and we would lose our overnight babysitter. I would definitely miss that last part if we did move.

So I guess I am doomed to look at the gray forever. :(

Aside from the expense the Bay Area is a great place to live. I think being here all my life it is easier to live here than someone moving here because it is just so expensive to rent or own a home. But the East Bay is great. Can't beat the CA weather and we are 3 hours from snow and mountains, 1 hour from the beach, and there is just so much to do here you can live here for years and never tire of it.

I *LOVE* Cranbury, NJ. I am a suburban girl at heart, perhaps a bit uncommon for a 23-year-old, but I have friends here and the area is just absolutely lovely.

Of course, my roommate and I are now moving to Manhattan as the commute from Cranbury is just too much. I am half-dreading, half-anticipating this move. Snoopy, want to trade? :)

Dana, been there, done that, when I was your age or thereabouts. Nowdays I would only consider a move to Manhattan if my kids were out of school, and I'm looking at more than a few years........ (not to mention a huge increase in salary would be required to live where I'd want to live in Manhattan).

Good luck to you on your move! I hope it turns out to be much beter than you anticipate.

Yes I am happy with were we live. I like being in a fairly large city, good neighborhood, but close to great camping and outdoor activities....

I like being in the center (North but center) of the country in a large HUB as my work requires travel and I get get pretty much anywhere in the U.S. in under a 4 hour flight.

I enjoy the change of seasons, tolerable heat in the summer, snow in the winter.

If I was to move from MN, I love Colorado.

I live in NW Washington State and love it! We have clean air, mountains, water, and Canada is just a few miles North. The people here are friendly, I feel safe, and we get just enough snow to enjoy it a couple times a year without having to freeze. The only downfall is the nonstop rain, but you kinda get used to it after a few years! :D It's worth it for the green.

Not really. I live in the same town, same house I grew up in. Oooo, I've gone far huh? It's a very nice town in Massachusetts, but it's a little too snobbish for me. Everybody here thinks their poop doesn't stink. Massachusetts is too cold and snowy for me. Not to mention, it's BORING! We all would rather be living in Florida. My husband is considering relocating there sometime in the future. I need warm weather and sunshine to be my happy, little self:tongue:
