Seriously - Are you happy where you live?

It is ok, I just hate winter and cold and snow and I would love to live in Florida!:sunny: :teeth:

My answer....YES! Sure, we have crime like any other place...and....our local politicians are...."weird"...our Mayor is in the soup....etcetera etcetera...

BUT!! I / we always find something to do..the lake and beautiful Presque Isle Bay... and picnics....fishing...ice fishing...ice skating...the Brig Niagara..the new Library and Maritime museum...hunting....fairs & festivals....
and more...

I get Grandkids every Saturday and we have NEVER had a problem finding something to do...always fun....many times educational....but never ever boring.....

Example: A couple years ago...there was the "GO-FISH" project....somewhat ike the current Mickeys....local artists were sponsored by various businesses or individuals to decorate and r paint 1 of 2 types of fish.....a pan fish or a sport fish....then, over the summer, the fish were put on display all over the city....it took almost all summer before all 95 fish were put on display...

So....when we heard when a new fish was being unveiled...i would call the Grandkids and say..."wanna go fishing?"

we spent many a weekend or evening driving around to view or review the fis......we all had our favorites...what fun we had!

For 2004, we are having "Leap frog"....which follows the same guidelines as the fish...2 types of frogs...local artists...and the disply will officially start April 1....one frog..Leprechaun frog was unveiled yesterday...

I expect i will be making calls asking..."wanna go frog gigging?"

Just a few of the reasons I am truly happy about where I live....

Yes, we love it here and can't imagine any other place. The Bay Area has the best year around weather and as others have said just a few hours in either direction is snow, beach, or Disneyland!

House Prices are the worst, traffic is the same every day, and we have a great mix of people here! Would not be willing to trade for anything!

I do like the *area* that I live in.............BUT I hate the cold/snow and would move south in a heartbeat!! I come from a very close-knit family, and I just can't convince all of them to move with me.........so I am stuck here. :(

Thank you all so much for your opinions. It just goes to show that its possible to be happy out there in your town and state of choice.

You know in all honestly I can say nothing positive about Mississippi. If someone wanted to move here I would honestly think they had lost their mind and thats sad!!

I am ready to be somewhere where there is always something to do, there is NOTHING here. Its sad because you can't even go to the movie theatre without fear of being shot. Its a sad, sad state.

Thank you all so much for your opinions. I am so excited about finally getting out of here (although its a year away it will pass quickly!) and especially introducing my son to more culture and giving him more opportunities then he will ever be exposed to here.

I love Texas, but hate the city that we're at right now... but its only temporary, and then we'll be off again =) We have no idea where we'll end up next, but as long as its a big city, I'll be happy. Now that is where DH and I disagree... he'd love the country =)

That is a bit of a loaded question. I would start with yes..... I love my house, I like my very small town, schools are terrific, crime is almost non-existent (and if there is a crime, it is usually being committed by a town police officer, police chief, or a relative of such.... NO LIE!), no income/sales taxes (gotta love NH for that!), one hour to mountains (actually 20 minutes to a local ski mtn), one hour to beach, 1 1/2 hrs to Boston. We have an airport 30 minutes from home, as well as lots of shopping, restaurants, theaters. Unfortunately, the closest grocery store and Walmarts are also 30 minutes away.

BUT....... I hate the winters. I am usually so tired of snow by the first of January I could scream. I don't ski (tried it years ago and didn't like it) and I can't skate any longer (hurts my feet and ankles too much). And I hate the mayflies in the spring and the mosquitos in the summer. MAYFLIES are BRUTAL!

My DH accepted a job transfer to the Atlanta, GA area about two years ago. It was a difficult decision to make, as his mom, 5 of 6 siblings all live in MA/NH area. And my folks and extended family are all in MA. I shed a lot of tears over the move, but I was getting excited about the better weather and just an 8 hr drive to WDW!! Unfortunately, as the economy just isn't improving his company decided not to spend the money on a move and reassigned him to a new job here in NH. So while I am happy not to be leaving the home/house I love, I am somewhat disappointed not to be leaving the winters behind!!

ANYHOW..... yes, I like where I live, but I don't LOVE it.........P

Pjlla that makes a lot of sense of a lot of levels for me as well but the opposite.

We have never had much snow and I would love to experience a White Christmas and shovelling and all the snow sports. Maybe we would hate it but we could love it to. Its so hot down here, HOT HOT HOT and the humidity is pathetic. Today for example its stormy out there and my hair is FLAT from the humidity. I've always loved cold weather, the colder the better so part of me thinks a move north woud be wonderful for us. Then theres the part of me that wants to live with Mickey...LOL!

I love living here in Tampa. I also loved living in Virginia, they have actually seasons and it's beautiful up there. The schools are better, but it is more expensive to live.

Both my boyfriend and I both HATE Michigan. Not so much the place, but the weather. Thank goodness we are building in Orlando right now!:sunny: :sunny:

While I live in a smaller town outside of Philadelphia, where the main pass time is talking about other people's lives, I truly love where I live and really can't imagine living anywhere else.

yeah I like PA but its a big but
I think I would be happy in a warmer climate like let's just say
FLORIDA
DH agrees but we're both too chicken to move
at least for now anyways

Not really. We stay because of family. My main reason for not liking it is the weather. I just can't handle the snow and cold. Our summers are really beautiful and it is so depressing for me when it comes to an end. I crave summer all year, so someday, I will live where it's that way.

We like Massachusetts but are not too crazy about the town we live in. They like to tear down the small houses (that young people starting out ccan afford) and build these huge monstrosities that sell for $700,000. Plus the town keeps upping the tax rate. Soon we won't be able to afford to live here. We have been talking about moving out to the western part of the state once the kids are done with school. It is beautiful out there!

I like where I live now--great neighbors and easy access to major roads. However, a second home would be nice in FL --I have trouble in the cold weather (triggers bronchial problems).

I love where i live. A little seaside town north of boston. Its full of tourists in the summer, cold and empty in the winter. No traffic lights in town no fast food chains (only dunkin doughnuts) small schools. With 2 teenagers i like the fact that everyone knows everything that goes on.I also like the fact that theater, concerts and fine dining are only a 45 minute train ride away.

I live just North of Chicago and we are happy here. Lived here all my life so it is comfortable for me. We talk about moving to Florida some day but honestly I doubt we ever will.

Family is here. I love the fact that we have 4 seasons. Not too thrilled abou the traffic. There is good and bad everywhere so I just try and focus on the good.

Actually, yes, I am pretty happy here! The only thing I would change is that I'd like my extended family to live here too!

Other than that, I have everything I need (well...except WDW ofcourse) right here in Virginia. Beautiful mountains, beaches, themeparks, vinyards, great seafood and people are generally nice. We are lucky to have built our house when we did, because the prices around here have skyrocketed!

Sounds like the town I lived in Delaware County, PA!

It's OK, 45 mins from Cleveland, big enough to have national chains, but small enough to have a 10 minute rush hour.

However, if I had the money, I'd move to Florida in a heartbeat. I'm asian and grew up in Asia, so the 100 F weather doesn't bother me. That and I don't want to have to drive 16 hrs to see Mickey and Donald.
