I'm going to follow along. We have a trip to WDW in the last half, I don't have a lot of hope, but I am going to record buy or no buy before the trip. And I'm only going to include the 'extras' for those day. I'll hope for 8 for those days that I'm home.

1: $0
2: spend
3: $0
4: spend
5: $0
6: $0
7: $0 (gotta love holidays when the stores are closed)
8: spend As this is the first day of school, I consider this to be my first day of retirement, so we are heading to a play and some food.

5/8

Want to have 20 no buy days, so far, 4 no buy days and 4 buy days. Had to buy food and back to school items. So, 16 more days of no buy, and hoping to be at that. Thanks for seeing others and helping me remind to not buy.

I am joining in on this too, although I might have to do things a little differently. Seeing what everyone else is doing gives me encouragement to work harder to save. I have been using a credit card for all my spending for a very long time now. I am always able to pay it in full at the end of the month, but I also see where I easily spend way more on wants than needs. This month I have gone back to using my check book. I only have so much money in my account so it makes me be very aware of how much I spend. I've only had two no spend days so far in Sept. but the days I have spent, I made my purchases very carefully knowing I don't want to run out of money. Also, we are working very hard to not eat out and plan outings carefully. So far we are doing awesome with that. Our 44th anniversary is the 25th of this month, and on that day we have planned an all day trip and eating out! Yes!!!! Other than that we will be staying home. I appreciate this thread!!!!

Just back from Disney yesterday, so I will join in from today onwards.

Hmmm....let's see. I'm going to include gasoline, groceries and all other variable expenditures. I have a budget of $60 a week for gasoline and $135 a week for groceries. We are not doing family fun money this month since we just got back from vacation, but I have to get the kids some new shoes this week and pick up a few odds and ends at the dollar store over the course of the month, otherwise we are trying to keep the purse strings drawn tight.

I'll aim for 18 days.

September

Completely bombed last month. Wasn't thinking about my daugther's birthday party or family being in town for 10 days...oops :rolleyes1

I'm going HUGE this month, 20 days :scared1: My self-imposed "rules" are bill payments don't count; groceries, shopping and gas don't count unless we go over the already set budget limit for the month. Out to eat counts (i.e. cannot fall within the "food" budget) no matter what, because it's a horrible habit we need to break. Here we go...

9/1: Birthday gifts and birthday meal for daughter SPEND
9/2: Target run, added in non planned items SPEND
9/3: Outlet mall with family SPEND
9/4: NO SPEND #1 :thumbsup2
9/5: Target run, added in non planned items SPEND
9/6: NO SPEND #2 :thumbsup2
9/7: Family farewell meal SPEND

I'm going to aim for 17 No Buy Days to help build off my previous month's success.

Hey all! I had amazing luck earlier this year saving LOTS of money by staying out of stores and sticking close to the "No Buy" thread.... but I've been away from the Dis for most of the summer. But I'm back and I'm jumping in (albeit a bit late) for September!! Give me a minute to come up with my "plan" and I'll post it and be ready to SAVE! ......................P

Okay..... since I'm starting late I've got 20 days left... so I'll aim for just 15 NO BUY days for the rest of the month! I consider any unnecessary spending such as coffee, meals/snacks away from home, thrift store purchases, online purchases, etc to count as a "BUY"... but gas, groceries, bills get the "okay". I spent a LOT of money at the grocery store this past weekend.... between that and the garden I should be able to get through the end of the month just buying perishables (milk, apples, greens, yogurt). I am trying hard to use up all of the bits and bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste etc that we seem to build up here (mostly thanks to my college-aged DD who doesn't always finish things up), so I won't need to buy any of that stuff either.

I am heading to BERMUDA in October to visit DD on her semester abroad and it is costing me faaaarrr more than I anticipated (I thought Bermuda would be relatively inexpensive during hurricane season!), so I need to save EVERY PENNY I can!!

CURRENT PROGRESS: 15/15 NO BUY days (and today will be 16/15 if all goes as planned!)

Sept 10: Ended up working extra hours so a NO BUY day PLUS I made extra $...WOOHOO! 1/15
Sept 11: Home for the day, no extra errands, NO BUY....2/15
Sept 12: Spent $10 out of the Christmas fund on an early gift.... still calling it a NO BUY since it was pre-planned and the $ was waiting in the Christmas envelope.....3/15
Sept 13: Rainy day at home. DH stopped at the market on his way home from the gym, but stuck to the list, so NO BUY day.... 4//15
Sept 14: Home for the day.... NO BUY 5/15
Sept 15: Worked both jobs ... but thought I'd be going home between jobs to have a snack and I didn't.... so I spent $2 on a coffee and healthy snack to eat in between. It wasn't really optional.... I was VERY hungry... but still a SPEND day.
Sept 16: Working today and then straight home. No Buy! 6/15
Sept 17: Work, dentist.... and some groceries.... but also new sunglasses for Bermuda ($5) and I splurged on a new face cream to try.... so NOT a no buy.
Sept 18: No buy! 7/15
Sept 19: Groceries but nothing else and nothing extra... but bribed DS with a sandwich from Subway to come along and keep me company.... so NOT a no buy.
Sept 20: NO BUY! Plus I had a WW training meeting, so also was an earning day! 8/15
Sept 21: Work and home.... NO BUY! 9/15
Sept 22:Home and WW meeting in the evening.... NO BUY! 10/15
Sept 23: Work and work and then home to watch Survivor.....NO BUY! 11/15
Sept 24: Work and work and home.... NO BUY! 12/15
Sept 25: Work and work and home..... NO BUY! 13/15
Sept 26: Groceries and spent $2 on facial mask (guaranteed to make me look 20 years younger! ;) ).... not a no buy. :(
Sept 27: Home today doing yard work and laundry it WILL be a NO BUY! 14/15
Sept 28: Worked and did NOT go to the fabric store.... so NO BUY day! Made it....15/15 !!
Sept 29: Work and WW meeting.... will probably be a NO BUY!
