my dates of september 12 have not shifted yet, but will be checking again in a weeks time

What's WEIRD is that just a few days ago, the 13th through the 25th got a GREAT price. OK it was a bit higher than my longer reservation in December, but it was still much better than I'd gotten in months. (higher also than the rate I found in the spring or earlier, but I decided to not book then, ugh)

Then a day later it all sprang back up again! Thankfully I'd already rebooked and canceled. Nowhere near what you just found for 8-18, though!

I'm jealous. Currently, I'm locked in for $345, for 12 days. Ouch! I was happy it went down from $359.

I'll keep eyeballing it, but right now - Ugh!

the base rate has now changed to 129 and 18 a day for extra days for more than 7 days UP TO september 10

it was 113 and 16 last night....keep checking

the base rate for 7 day exact rental is still at 354

Just booked a full size car with Priceline for the last week of September. Alamo - 9 days - $191.46 includes taxes and fees :woohoo:

I hate to be a jerk but that is not a good deal at all. I will guess if you waited you could get that car for no more than $140. I know people like to feel warm and fuzzy with a locked in price they can handle but Priceline really isn't that effective at MCO.

Found the corporate code ti1 for alamo. No idea what it is or where its from. Have never used it for a rental, but it works on the site and gives some interesting results.

Seems to include insurance and some misc fees that alamo has.
Otherwise, seems to give the same, or higher, price for most vehicles - except for midsize SUV which in my checking seems to be cutting the price by about 1/2.

Anyone know anything about this code?

check you national rates again....

just did your dates and came out with 162.91 for emerald aisle ( for me full size is the same price due to our tier level )

but have not seen the base rate this good in a long time

it is 113~ and 16~ a day extra

it seems these rates are for when you book more than 7 days ( even going over by just two hours acquires this rate )

if you do the regular full 7 days the rate is 324

this is either a glitch in the system or they are rewarding people who book more than 7 days.....even 2 hours over

further experimenting shows this to be true for anything booked UP TO september 10 forward....for more than 7 days

once you hit september 11 it goes to 324 weekly base rate

Thanks for the info! Just now I got the 113 and 16!! I'm so glad I came on the DIS today! I wasn't going to because I'm recovering from surgery (and have complications :sad1:, just taking longer to get back on my feet) Anyway, couldn't stay away and yet again, my fellow DISers came through with a great deal! :worship:

Thanks for the heads up.

Thus far, it has NOT changed, however - for grins and giggles, I bumped my dates back by 2 weeks to see the price. They dropped by $150.

I gotta keep an eyeball on this! :magnify:

That is really odd...does anyone know what TI1 might be?? It doesn't accept coupon codes when you use it!!

I'm not seeing this at all. I'm running my Insiders Contract ID with this coupon code and my estimated total is coming out to $359.13.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? My dates are Sept. 20 to Oct. 1.

you are not doing anything wrong...

it is probably similar to national ....the good rates are for early september UP TO the 10th for now....with them

just keep checking here and on alamo's own website

if the rates shift someone will probably post it here

Hmmm, that's strange. I posted about an hour earlier than you and I got $113wk/ $16 extra days. Are your dates later than the 10th? My dates are 8-18. Just wondering if you had the same dates and National changed the rates in that hour. :confused3

base rate is now 129.41 and extra days 18.49 for you time span....so the rate has been bouncing around, it was like this yesterday afternoon and then in the evening it was the 113 and 16

they seem to be adjusting the rates daily both up and down....but not beyond september 10th yet

Ok, got it. So weird how company's change there rates from day to day/hour to hour! Airlines kill me too! :lmao: As long as I get a good rate, I'm happy. But, I hate stalking the web to score the lowest price! Oh well, I guess good things come to those who wait (and stalk?) :rotfl2:

we all do the same thing in an attempt to get a good rate, that is what is nice about the boards...

it is also good that you posted what you used, so others can try them for your time frame, although it did not work out for us at this time, i was able to confirm that there was some movement in national's base rate which has not budged for MONTHS...

thanks again for your original post with regards to national

Your welcome. I'm glad to have the boards for this reason also. I just actually went on National today and saved another $25. I was SO surprised, I called my DH and he thought I won the lottery or something! :rotfl: OH, and I used Continental code 5007160 with same coupon ND8434DJC. Home this helps you or someone!

I just used the free upgrade (up to standard) and my Insider code for $151. Very happy but I'm going to keep trying for a cheaper rate. Omit this...I'm such a dork...I booked August dates!

Just saw a dramatic drop in the rates for early September on Avis. Wound up booking a car for 8/31 to 9/5 for ~$160 all in.
