*September Car Rental Rates* 2011

I've booked a mini-van for 9/6 to 9/19.
Best rate at National... $873.36 (total)
Best rate at Alamo... $809.22 (total)

I have not used priceline, but if the rates don't drop soon, I'm going to give it a whirl.

I currently have an intermediate SUV booked through my credit card company for a total of $188.00 including tax, etc. I am waiting to see if I can find anything cheaper for the end of September. I tried Priceline today and the cheapest they showed was $40.00 per day...ummmm, yeah, no!! I think towards the end of this month, beginning of next month the prices for the end of Sept should start falling!! Fingers crossed!!

(ETA: wow that person's post was deleted quickly)

Meanwhile, I still haven't seen my rental go below the low rate it hit last week or so. I'm basically fine with what it is right now, I won't cry to pay it, but I would *like* it to be lower. After all, it's still higher than what I paid for longer in December. :)

(helpful hint...be sure you're putting the right dates in when checking obsessively, LOL...just gave myself a useless adrenaline rush by not switching the return to the correct date and thinking that the price had dropped by another $100!)

Yes, same with me - when I forget to change the car selection to mini-van. :headache:

I did the same too! I was so excited then reread the dates I realized what I did! You're not alone! :goodvibes

Now you tell me:lmao:

Another hint to find a lower rate (and I hope this doesn't alert Alamo to a glitch in their system)....I work nights and of course complusively check our rate for 9/25 to 10/1 whenever I get home at night. It has consistently been cheaper in the evening and then goes right back up the next morning. And sometimes, though not every time it will accept my AMEX discount with the Insider coupon....takes another $14 off.

same thing seems to be happening with National also

it seems to be going from base rate 113 to 129 ( midsize )and back again if your dates to go are before september 11th

Saw the Sunpromo code on the homepage of Alamo.com today ("Soak up the Sun and Save 15%") and it saved me another $8 on my Sept. trip.

Alamo - Compact to/from MCO - Sept 3 @ 11 am thru Sept 12 @ 2 pm = $136.98 total w. tax! Used Sunpromo code and coupon AD4027JDO. I am STOKED!!

I originally booked our Mid-Size car for Sept 10 - 17 back in February for around $250. Just checked rates and they have dropped yet again just since Saturday! Using the SUNPROMO and the Insiders code for $40 off, our rate is now $106.76 including taxes and fees!

I'll continue to watch for even cheaper rates as the date gets closer - see if we can maybe match the $76 we paid for a week long rental a couple of years ago. If not, I am happy with this rate! :thumbsup2

Thank you for the information, I went from $206 to $194.

I've been renting cars for a long time and that tip about renting on the hour rather than the half hour is fascinating! I have been playing around with it this morning and the savings are significant! Just another reason to love the DIS!:thumbsup2

Thank you! :thumbsup2 I was able to get our rental down by another $10. I know it's not alot but it's still good snack money at WDW.

This is for a mini-van for two weeks. Total cost is now $659.65. That's close to what I expected. Can't beat $150 savings!!!!

Thanks! Using these it is now cheaper to get Alamo car for two weeks and paying for parking for the 4 night cruise than doing Budget MCO to port and port to MCO.

There's a new 20% off code for Alamo Insiders that's giving me a better rate than the Sunpromo code. It's 7014667 (found on the Insiders page on Alamo's site). Using this code with the $40 off code gives me $320.30 for a full size for THREE weeks.

Also of note, the full size and standard cars are coming up less expensive than the midsize right now for me.

That code's giving me an even better rate... where did you find it??? (I looked on the insider's page on Alamo's website and can't find it)

ETA - I found it!!!! Alamo insider deals, 20% off florida!

My new rate is $579.58!!! That's a savings of $229.64!!! CRAZY!!! (orginal ressie was over $800, almost $900 with National). THANK YOU!!!

Thanks for the new code! Yay, saving!!

As always, play with the pick up and return times. The standard size drops by $60 if I change the return time by one hour either earlier or later. ;)

What a great code I went from $194 to $171.:banana:
