*September Car Rental Rates* 2011

There's a new 20% off code for Alamo Insiders that's giving me a better rate than the Sunpromo code. It's 7014667 (found on the Insiders page on Alamo's site). Using this code with the $40 off code gives me $320.30 for a full size for THREE weeks.

Also of note, the full size and standard cars are coming up less expensive than the midsize right now for me.

:worship::worship: Thank you!! Saved me another $50 bucks!

How are the priceline folks who locked in feeling now? I swear I won't say I told you so.

Can someone let me know how the whole Emerald Club thing works? From what I gather if you're emerald club you simply book a midsize vehicle and pick up any vehicle that is sitting in the emerald aisle?

Am I missing something here? Last time I was there you could have gotten SUV's, mini vans, etc. Sounds too good to be true...

If the SUVs and mini vans are in the Emerald Aisle, they would have been fine to take for any Emerald Club member who booked midsize. :thumbsup2

Normally I'm the travel-planner-deal-finder-wizard. My rental car search has gotten the best of me. Y'all are finding some great rates, so I'm begging for help and claiming defeat.

We're arriving on Sept 25 at 1:30pm and departing Oct 1 at 5. I've played around with different times to no avail. I know not having a Saturday stay will limit our available codes, but there has to be something out there for us. We need a car to fit a carseat, and agency that will let DH and I both drive without additonal cost.

I'll be eternally grateful for any help. Thanks!

Be sure to enter your time of pick up as 2:00 and 5:00. Alway book on the hour and not the half hour.

Great find! And I thought I'd done good with the Sunpromo code. Your find saved me another $8 for Disney! Thanks! :hippie:

Are you an Alamo Insider and National Car Rental Emerald member? If not, join both. Mousesavers has a link for a free National rental. Both will let spouses drive free (if you're members). I have ressies with both companies and will rebook as codes/coupons come out (just "modify" your reservation). I'll cancel the higher priced one right before we leave.

Also - we are JUST getting good Alamo rates. Hopefully, National will follow suit, BUT, rates for your dates might not drop for a while (if at all). After joining the programs, try some of the codes and coupons in this link (and on mousesavers).

Maybe someone with some time can run some numbers for you.

How are the priceline folks who locked in feeling now? I swear I won't say I told you so.

Actually feeling great, have had 7 day rental, mid-size, locked in for $111 after taxes and fees for about 6 months now. No obsessing or having to check back every day to enter a new coupon or code, if everyone can get that rate or even a little lower now with the new codes.....GREAT!!!!!! I for one like to know its knocked out and done with and not have to worry about checking a website every day. Sounds like both camps are winners to me

Hmmm... :-( I am getting the same price with SUNPROMO and 7014667. :confused3

WHAT?!?!?! For a month now we have had a Priceline reservation for a fullsize car with Hertz for nine days for 9/12-9/21 for $99 taxes and fees included. So I'll have to say we are doing just fine thank you!

I went down by $7. Better than nothing, right?

I'm still waiting on big money, no whammies - code!

Not sure of your dates, but Alamo's website says this code is for rentals through September 26th. I think the SUNPROMO code is 10% off and this one is 20% off, so it should give an extra 10% off. But, I don't know what happens if your dates are after the 26th. :confused3
Make sure you're logged in as an insider, too (and it's listed when you do your search).

Thanks! I just booked a midsize from 9/6 - 9/14 (9 days) for $91.69 (including all taxes and fees)! :cool1:

And the midsize was slightly cheaper than the compact. So keep checking back, you might get a bigger car cheaper. :thumbsup2

Caution: If you elect to add in a frquent traveler reward option, it will cost you more. To get the rock bottom price, do not add it.

Check your Alamo rentals!!!!
I don't know why, but mine just dropped AGAIN (another $45). I'm at $533.80 for two weeks of a minivan. Using the 20% off code, 7014667 and the $40 coupon, AD4027JDO.

If you have 2 drivers, you might consider 2 rental cars? It could be much cheaper?

I already considered this especially since we really only need the mini-van the second week of our trip (and an intermediate the first week). BUT, no one in my sister's "crew" is willing to drive (and I'm not going leave my family to chauffuer her's around) so it's one vehicle for us! Fortunately, my DM doesn't want us to have to switch vehicles half way through our vacation to accomodate them and is covering the extra cost (maybe even the whole cost!!! :goodvibes). But, it doesn't matter who pays, I still want to get the best price possible.

I've read where people suggest the Continental Airlines code for National Rental Car, but I got better rates with the following codes...
Mastercard... 5028604
US Airways... 5028180
HiltonHonors...5028153
Visa...5027112
(all of the above codes gave me better rate than Continental, but still higher than Alamo right now)
I'm not sure if these codes work out better for everyone, but thought I'd mention it.

And Mousesavers has several coupons, but ND8578ADT ($35 off) worked best for our rental. NF5817ZDT (free weekend day) worked best when we had a small car for a short rental. The coupons were also on National's website.

4 day rental, 9/28 to 10/3 Disney CCC $120.46 using 5125601(Amex) and NF5817ZDT

Glad these codes are working for y'all, cause they're doing squat for me. When they announced the 20% code yesterday, I thought "yippee, finally!" Unfortunately, the per week rate is so much higher now that the overall cost is still much more than what I booked several weeks ago. I need an economy or compact for September 25-October 9. I have a reservation now for $325, but with the new codes it's coming out to $388! I got a compact for 10 days in May for $98, so these rates I'm getting now are really hurting the pocketbook.
