September 3, 2005 --- Who is going?

We head to DIA in 5 hours and are (maybe) finally packed. Painful process and this is the first year EVER that my husband has more clothing than me--- you can tell that I'm the one who reads these boards!!
OMAP... you know who you are... I grew up in Nodak and have many fond memories of high school basketball tournaments, debate meets, etc. in Bismarck and hope that you find the people there warm and welcoming. They are salt-of-the-earth, decent, hard-working folks who appreciate their prairie surroundings. It's not the most picturesque place but the pioneer spirit still abounds!!
Off to WDW tomorrow and to greet you all on Saturday! Can you believe we're almost on total vacation time??? :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :cloud9:
See you then!

ginny i just pm'd my picks for the next two races to tori, we'll see how that works out.

as far as door sign, we don't do anything if we don't do it up big, i guess we're real texans. took it up to the church and laminated it after pasting everything on, including magnet strips, the kids love it and really enjoyed making a smaller version for dgd and dgm. rachel wanted to include lyrics from jimmy's migration that say: people who retire in florida are wrinkled and they walk with a cane, but thought better of it, not sure dw would want people thinking her dd was decreptit. :rotfl:

gonna go do a little gas station research, the old fashioned way with a phone, i'll check back before bed and see if i can up the total a little more.

pOGO -

- That's a pretty good idea to check gas prices by phone. I never considered that as I usually just drive by wondering if the next station has a better price - of course you're preping for a huge drive so it matters more in that case. :)

Aside from that here are our answers to the 5 questions - mine first:

1. Who is your favorite movie actor? Actress?
I would say Tom Hanks or Patrick Stewart; and for females: Jeri Ryan or Mini Mouse,
2. What is your favorite dessert?
Creme Brule, Flan, Root Beer Floats, warm cookies, and sweet strawberry pie with whipped cream!
3. What is your dream car?
(realistic) Dodge Viper... (unrealisticly...) I would like a 1998 Ferrari F50 GT (original base price was $1.8M
4. What is your favorite thing to do on a rainy day?
Sit by an open window and play computer games with the rain cleansed air waftig in. Even better at nite if lightening is flashing then I'd just watch the storm slide by
5. What is your favorite thing to do on a sunny day?
Take the kids swimming and spend some time at the park with the kids and our dog Sugar. AND my spouse has to be with us to complete the picture!

So - I'll try to get my spouse to provide answers to this some time soon.

Adios, :paw:

Oh...

As for the internet thing I was just going to quietly ask around at the DIS meet who wanted in - and then I'd divide folks into clusters of more or less equal number. If we had 6 families - then it ould be 2 sets of 3 unless a couple families say they are heavy users... then we would settle into a party of 4 and 2. Pretty simple I figure. Plus - my private message history has most of the folks flagged who had interest -so I'l be carryig a printed roster of the whole group with most of the interested parties highlighted.

Things are getting sort of hecktic since we're fixin' to leave home tomorrow afternoon or evening. You know - we almost NEVER leave the house as planned - but I'm going to try really hard not to make a big deal of leaving as planned! I want the whole trip to be issue free and pure happiness for everyone! :goodvibes

Well guys, and gals, Ginny & I are about to hit the road and hopefully will be in Orlando around 2pm for some R & R by the pool .... Pogo, we're bringing our laptops with us so we can get our picks in for this weekends race and will probably post Richmond picks from onboard the ship ..... see ya'll on the Magic!!

:wave2: Safe trips to those that leave today! :cool1: Have agreat day! I'm off to work for the last time before we cruise! Yea!!!!! I have a drs appointment today too. Oh well! Today will go quickly. :wave2:

Have a safe trip everyone! Can't wait to see you in the Promenade Lounge on Saturday. Dave and I will be at the Detroit airport 48 hours from now. Count me in Crash on the internet sharing. By the way, Andy and Pogo, Dave is a huge Nascar fan, too. I'm sure he'll be heading to Diversions on Sunday for a race. I'm clueless abut Nascar.

Jan

P.S. I'll bring the list I created, too, of all us DISers.

My spouse just found our daughters' pirate eye patch from last year! <where does she keep these things? Let alone FIND them?? She's amazing!>.

SO - safe travels to all... so many of us on the move.

We're trying to decide what to rebook now and we have NOT even gotten to the ship for this year! We're thinking something in October or December. One daughter is starting kindnetgarten and we don't want to miss the opening week.

Here are our 4 year old daughter's answers' to the most recent series of questions posed: :flower:

1. Who is your favorite movie actor? Actress?
Peter Pan, Lido & Stitch, Kim Possible, and COdy Banks and that's all
2. What is your favorite dessert?
Chocolate
3. What is your dream car?
Blue (any car in blue)
4. What is your favorite thing to do on a rainy day?
Play with an umbrella
5. What is your favorite thing to do on a sunny day?
ah, Play!

Where to begin...

How will you know who I am? I'll be the guy with 100+ nametags and Suzanne (Mom2Boyz2000) will be the one with 20+ purple tie-dyed t-shirts! I was just going to put the nametags out on a table. Find yourself and mingle! I had a great response from all but like 3 or 4 families, so just about everyone has their very own souvenir DIS name tag!

My DW makes fun of me… some people remember things by a song, I remember by food! The chocolate soufflé from Palo’s is great! I’ve been thinking about it for months! Can’t wait to order it! I’ve found copies of all of the menus on the net and have picked most of my meals for the week!

The folks here at work gave me a nice VISA gift card for my birthday. I used it to buy a great pirate costume at Party City. So like I said before… with a little help from the captain (Captain Morgan) I’ll be dressed for pirate night. My wife is sure going to have her hands full that night with her 3 kids! Can’t wait to put an eye patch, earring and tattoo on my 11 month old nephew! pirate:

I still have to print the tags, door signs and help DW finish the t-shirts. Hope to get that stuff done today so I can pack tomorrow night and Friday and hit the road early Saturday morning!

Travel safely!

See you guys soon!

Frank

You women are scaring me! My DW reads a lot of Nora Roberts and James Patterson! We have way too much in common!

Frank

Good morning everyone!

It looks like you guys have been busy posting so I thought I would try to help too.

I have got to get reservations for Palo. My mouth is already watering.

We don't leave until Friday morning so I am jealous of you guys that are already leaving. My boys are both in school today so I am going to try to finally start packing. The suitcases are out and staring at me so I think it might be time to start washing clothes and get busy. Nothing like waiting until the last minute.

Robyn

Well we are about 24 hrs from take-off to Orlando. It has been raining for the last day and I am hopeful that the grass will dry out by late today so that I can run the lawn mower one more time (otherwise we will come home to a jungle rather than our lawn).

We are just about packed except incendentals and cd/dvd players.

See ya'all on the ship or we hope to see some of you at Margaritaville on Friday night!

Safe travel to all!

Well, I have actually started packing. Boy, there sure is a lot to do. I think I should have started earlier.

Just curious for those who have been before. Have any of you used the washer/dryer to save on packing just about everything you own? Can't decide what to do about that. Normally, when we go to Disney World we stay at BWV so we have the washer/dryer and we really use them for things such as short/pants.

Well I don't know about you guys but I am ready to be relaxing on deck with a nice book.

Robyn

Here goes 979....

So... we're about 80% packed... problem though is that the last 20% takes quite a while since we're always trying to top things off and triple check not to forget something. I usualy say we can always buy someting if we've forgotten to pack it - but my spouse is really good bout gathering a compete list of things wanted on the trip.

So I gotta get going now (rats! I've been alternating between my spouse's new notebook and mine - her keyboard is significantly smaller with certain hot keys placed differently than mine so I keep hitting the wrong keys! PLUS it does not help that MY computer is new too - being about 1 month old and smaller than MY previous notebook.)

My daughter pickd these avatars:

:love2: :love2: :love2: :love2: :love2: :love2: :love2:

Trying to do my part again - we are soooo close to 1000!!

Can you get this delicious chocolate soufflé during brunch at Palos or is it a dinner only thing?
