September 29, 2012 - Ropin' Some Magic in the Western Caribbean

Found this nifty thread that shows reviews of the actual staterooms on each of the ships. You just type in your room # and you can see reviews that others have left. :surfweb:

http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-cruise-line/disney-magic-room-reports.cfm

There were several reviews for our cabin. Some said it was quiet and one said it was noisey from the cleaning carts. On Oct 11, 2011, the last review stated:

"Loved the roominess feel of the sideways cabin. Unfortunately the room smelled of mildew especially on the left side of the bed. I noted this on the comment card. Sailed the Dream prior to this cruise and I wish the Dream had taken the sideways cabin idea and ran with it."

Hopefully, the mildew smell has been cleaned up. :(

Since we had our daughter we've had a sound machine. It's much more convenient than having to bring a fan. Infact, we sleep with it every night to this day! The awesome thing is that for those of you who can get aps on your phones, you can try the various sound machine apps. Some are free. I use one called "Sleep Machine Lite by SleepSoft LLC" and its free.... Its great and customizable!

Good to know that we're not the only ones on the first floor. I have to admit I was a bit disappointed but know next time not to choose a category that's on that floor. This is our first cruise so it will be a learning experience. lol!
We're in room 1036 with Gavin 4 and Grant 2.

I read the room reviews for that floor and alot of people state they loved the area...It was very quiet not alot of traffic down there....Plus we will be right by the medical bay .:crazy2::crazy2:just in case I need it for sea sickness...:rotfl:

When in my house, cleaning, picking up, or cooking, just being ...every time I turn around I see this!!!! { Black Dog is Radar, Reddish Dog is Jason}

Cute friends you've got there. Here are our two friends who live with us:

The cat, Little Miss Bea, will be staying with a friend. Our dog, Annabelle, is not happy when we leave :(, even when visiting a friend. Annabelle will be vacationing at the doggie hotel with the playtime option. None of us want to break the news to her until the last minute. :guilty:

I have confirmation on time and place for the Champagne Girl's Beauties and the Beasts.... We will meet in Sessions at 3pm on Sept 30. (first sea day). Here is the IMPORTANT part......
Disney informed me that each person must pay for their ticket in advance. She needs each of you that are on the list to call her by Thur. if possible to pay for your tickets. You need to contact Alma Dabu @ 407-566-3683 or you can email her with your name, reservation #, cabin # and credit card # at Alma.a.dabu@disneycruise.com
She also said if her line is busy and you feel comfortable about it that you can leave the info in a message or tell her in the message when it would be a good time to call you back.

Did we end up with the open bar or the champagne and beer tasting?

Great idea! Thank you for the suggestion of an app. I'm definitely going to send this to our DS and DIL. :thumbsup2

That's right, I need to think of what I can do. Thanks for the reminder. I have a 10 inch fan that is battery operated. I think I will suggest our kids do the same for their cabins. I was more worried about them than DH and DS in our cabin. The DS, DIL, and DGS on either side of us are more likely to be disturbed by a repetitive sound. I want them to have a good time and not have some annoyance disturb their joy at being on a Disney cruise.

That is a good idea. We'll probably listen to music with the fan, but it was the concern of hearing that noise when you want to sit quietly outside with nothing but the wind and water sounds that had me worried. :hourglass Not anymore, I'm kissing those worries goodbye and getting ready for my happy place. :beach:

Just remember this cruise is not totally booked so if you have any real issues with the noise you can request them to move you. Doubt they would have any rooms together.

YAY only 11 more days!!! Finishing my pirate costume today and going to go buy a pirate costume for my hubby this weekend!! Even though I am basically done with my FE gifts, I still feel like I have so much to do and not enough time! lol

Be sure to tell Jerry that you want the RIGHT side of the bed!!:rotfl2:

Just kidding. That was from 2011 so I would think they've resolved it by now. Some little things like smell I think might also come from the people who were in that room right before you. They turn those ships around fast so smell might be the hardest thing to clean out of there. I always bring a little can of air freshener.

Our room had some inconclusive reports of noise. Apparantly, we are below the kitchens. I hope it's not too bad. I was on deck 2 on the last cruise and didn't hear any noise from above. Heard a little bit of motor noise but it wasn't bad. I think last time we were on the opposite end of the ship though under one of the lounges. Our room this time has great access to the elevators that lead up the the drink station. :drinking1

Thank you, I think. I thought I had checked out the cabins we booked, but several of the reviews for two of my cabins reference a noise every one to five minutes from a hydrolic pump of some sort. :scared: The review said it kept them up a couple of nights even though they were happy with the location. :confused3
........

Ah, I know that sound well....:cool1: Actually, I'm a really light sleeper so I use those squishy little earplugs...I slept like a baby!! DH can sleep through anything, but.... DS had trouble going to sleep a few times with the sound. So I agree, either bring something to drown out the sounds or do what I do with the ear plugs, because other than that, we loved the location!!!!!

Did we end up with the open bar or the champagne and beer tasting?

Open bar!! More people voted for that one. Thanks for asking, we need to keep bumping this up so no one misses it & doesn't get their ticket. :thumbsup2

Yes, this is the open bay... $13.25 for all you can drink in that hour.
