September 28, 2016, DVC Member Cruise on the Magic!

SO happy to hear from Member Services on Friday that my waitlist came thru, and i will be on the cruise.pixiedust:I had really given up hope. So just got up on all the posts, and am so excited to meet you all. I see some familiar names from last year's DVC cruise to Alaska. Is there a group meet set up? or perhaps some Mixology sessions? Counting down the days, so much to plan so little time....party:

Hi everyone. The Local Candy/Snack exchange uses Fish Extenders to pass out local treats. We've gotten cheese straws from Mississippi and flavored popcorn and other non candy things in the past. I keep the groups under 12, for instance last Lear we had 32 participants, 4 groups of 8. Examples of candy has been salt water taffy from NJ and Utah, potato shaped candies from Idaho, chocolate covered berry candies from the Glacier NP area and Hershey chocolates. It is always fun to come back to your room and find a sweet treat!

If you are interested in the Candy/Snack Exchange please let me know! If you have not sent me your info please do so here, or in a conversation with me. Tell how many people are in your cabin, number of adults, children, if there are any allergies.

I was able to book my Palo reservations, massages and Halifax excursion today!!! We decided on the private tour, I am traveling with my sister and neither of us has ever been to Halifax...I'll need to do some research. I spoke with shoreside concierge, and she the "dress up" night would be Thursday and Pirate's night would on the Halifax day. She said she had no other information other than that.....
I am soon excited to be on this cruise:simba::jumping1:

I actually booked one of each, as I couldn't decide. It is my sister's first time cruising, so I thought she might enjoy both. Although I feel a little bad that I have 2 and some have none. I know I will keep the brunch one though it is my favorite!

:welcome::welcome::welcome: To all our new cruisers!! Really happy to have you guys join us. Just jump right in and feel free to ask/share anything. Would love to know your precruise plans or if anyone has cruised Halifax before.

nrexxma44 - yes I remember you from Alaska and it's great your waitlist came thru. Looks like you're sailing concierge again this trip. Very nice!
We haven't planned any meetups so far but a NY minimeet was tossed around at one point. Hopefully as we get closer to finalizing plans we'll be able to coordinate something either precruise or on the ship.

two quick Peggy's Cove updates:

1) They had another tragic death in May. Venturing out on the rocks is dangerous. There is an effort to promote visitor awareness thru better signage and public announcements. So sad. My heart breaks.

2) on a much better note: It appears Dee Dee's is where JQ and I will be headed for a morning snack at the Cove. Lobster rolls and Ice Cream! what a combo! https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurants-g780595-Peggy_s_Cove_Halifax_Region_Nova_Scotia.html

We don't have any pre cruise activities planned, we live in Boston, so will probably fly in late the night before, and probably will be flying into Newark. It will be great to see you again :love:Let me know if anyone is planning a meet onboard, or any mixology classes:jumping1:

Have we discussed a meet?
How about a breakfast meet on the first morning in the sit down restaurant off the atrium? If we meet at 8:25, we could be seated by 8:30, be served breakfast and get to chat a bit while going over the activities we have chosen for the day.
Any other ideas?

Just a reminder if anyone has not sent me Candy/snack exchange information, please do so. I'll be sending info to all around the middle of August, for sure by August 15. Still time to join!
